To understand the situation it helps to understand the treaties that have been signed between countries that ablige them to take certain actions in certain circumstances. There are certain red lines that automatically trigger military responses that no one wants. If Russia is pushed into a corner at some point it has to defend its sovereignty. Their defence responce could trigger a NATO response which would automatically trigger nuclear missile attacks on the NATO countries that have identified Russia as an enemy. The NATO missiles are only 7 minutes from Moscow. There is no time for human intervention the automated defence system kicks in. This is what Putin is trying to get the west to understand. After a certain threshold it's all over. Putin and Lavrov have been spelling this out to western diplomats, military leaders and journalists, but it seems they might as well be giving their public statements to ducks in the park. No one seems to be listening, they are so wrapped up in delivering their own narrative and absorbed in their egos. Try listening to Putin and Lavrov on RU-vid to hear it straight from the horses mouth. The US is quite happy to set two countries, Ukraine and Russia that were political and economic partners, against each other so the US can kill two birds with one stone. While the architects of this skullduggery sit back and smirk on the other side of tha Atlantic.
