Wasn't this whole thing about did Urban Meyer follow proper protocol with reporting a (POSSIBLE) domestic violence incident? The investigation concluded he did follow proper protocol. Domestic Violence isn't related to the compliance dept. Its a police matter. All these other things were not part of the original question. Urban didn't know about the DUI (Later knocked down to reckless operation) and he didn't know about the strip club, or Zach Smith personal mail, or him taking XXX pics of himself. He was only suspended because the media is out on a witch hunt and OSU caved under pressure.

Otherwise, they would have been suspended. Urban Meyer was winning enough games to not lose his job. It's all about wins and loses. You can get away with anything as long as you are winning. It always help when there is more information as I am not a fan of how Will Cain or ESPN has come off about this situation but I agree in large part with Will here. No doubt Zach Smith should have been fired long ago and that was Meyer's biggest mistake along with lying about what he knew. The suspension is right and should be longer after hearing this perspective.

Sorry folks, but I wouldn't expect too much from the NCAA. Remember how they dealt with North Carolina's basketball program last year and how they reduced the penalties when reinstating Penn State. There'll never be another 'death penalty' like what was imposed on SMU years ago because the NCAA has come to be only about the money. Just look at the excess number of bowl games they've 'sanctioned' in recent years.

It’s “incidents” not “incidences” - and it wasn’t a decade that he worked for Urban. Zach Smith was hired by Temple and Marshall for a season. Point taken that it was a long period of time, though. Urban definitely deserved the punishment - but half of Cain’s complaints (which are still valid) were legitimately unknown to Meyer. And some he did take action in - ie. the strip club by reprimanding Smith and instituting a new policy. I think a three game suspension is fair given what was known if the domestic violence allegations were “he said / she said.” He should have fired Zach Smith earlier...likely when Gene Smith suggested it in 2016. I all of that said, I am glad ESPN pundits are moving away from shaming Urban Meyer as being a domestic violence enabler and instead finding his issue as being loyal to a fault. This is much more responsible journalism.

Will is 1000% right Zach smith should have been fired a long time ago and Urban Mever should have been fired for lying. To me Urban Meyer being fired has absolutely nothin to do with the domestic violence allegations and much more to do with the fact that he lied what knew about those incidents and that he failed to properly report the incidents to Ohio State compliance department.but will is right Ohio state wins again with him and this will all be forgotten

What I find amazing is that Will and the rest of “the boys” NEVER talk about the obscene salaries that these coaches make. But OMG taking recruits to a strip club, DUIs (serious), and domestic abuse (beating the stuffing out of a spouse) is worth bringing up. I don't know if anybody realizes that both undisputed and first take have been talking about anything but sports. They are all referring to Stephen A Smith by using sports conflicts to discuss the recent incompetent performances put together by one of the all time great sports debaters. Stephen A is ironically known for the phrase: 'stay off the weed' but if you've ever been around a cannabis abuser then you can immediately tell he's constantly have trouble functioning on live TV due to foggy memory and dulled senses. He is not as sharp as he once was, I've no clue what is happening in this mans life but a lot of people are going about it the wrong way if their intention is to help him. It's a shame watching SAS's very own coworkers for quite some time now, simply turn their backs on the individual who helped carry them this far. Stephen A Smith needs to get his act together, but more importantly, ESPN needs to learn better management and be more sensitive to issues such as this. It was not delightful to see SAS form tears on live tv because Max and Molly are just constantly sneak roasting him. I have admired SAS for a very long time and I can honestly say I've learned a lot from him just by watching first take. SAS deserves the time, space, and peace to slowly mend his soul or whatever issues he is facing in life because I know that we all miss the Stephen A of old that was simply a force to be reckoned with.
