Charlie5, thank you for bringing reason to the conversation. And above all, thank you for today's life lesson. I wish everyone in the country could hear it. There is value in the truth. Truth is important. Truth matters. The truth can make or break a person. You did a masterful job of making your point, and I deeply appreciate it. Keep doing what you do. War Damn Eagle!
I actually like the fact we’re getting 2 defensive minds for this role especially if they will be position coaches I feel like we can only go forward and perform better week to week I think Hugh knows how big year 2 is from an on the field stand point It’s time to win and how we look doing it matters 🦅
Good stuff. I think the concern with Durkin, at least from what I recall, was the toxic team culture reported by then current and former players. If those reports were true, Durkin would certainly have been part of the problem. That being said, everyone deserves chances for redemption, and it sounds like Durkin has made the most of his second chances in the SEC. If Nix and Thornton speak highly of him, that should carry a lot of weight.
"Toxic" seems to be the new term when someone just doesn't like someone or someone is tough on others. The guy keeps getting vetted and keeps getting hired and so far Maryland is the only place we've heard this new term "toxic" attached to his name. I'll take advice from Maryland on crab cake recipes...not so much about tough defensive coaches. WAR EAGLE! - C5
I'd be glad to have Durkin and the biggest thing is probably how well he meshes with Kelly I'm not sure Kiffin's ego would allow him to be a Co-DC that has to recruit and I don't think money is an issue
actually I should have left that out but I think it would be more of well I've got it made here doing what I do or even a DC job in the pros you don't have to recruit and can punch the clock at 5 or 7 unlike these coaches have to really hit the recruiting 24/7@@AuburnDaily_
I love your show Charlie very much! If you reference a prior video you’ve done please site it so I can do back and listen if I’ve missed it. I’m speaking specifically of the segment you did on a am Coleman.
Thank you sir! It was the very first show I ever did. You can look through our channel or find it on Apple/Spotify. Just the last segment of the very first episode - C5
After that 4th and 31 against Alabama, I'm glad that Ron Roberts is gone. He should have been fired after that Iron Bowl. His 4th and 31 made us lose that game.
I think it’s more people suggesting Durkin knew about the toxic environment, so far as the strength and conditioning coach cursing players, slapping things out of players hands and other players talking bad about other players wen they can’t complete a practice drill. I don’t think he should be blamed for the players death though. But if he came to Auburn you know Auburn (we) will hold him accountable so I don’t think he’d screw that up. He deserves a chance to coach.
"Toxic environment" is one of those terms thrown out there today that usually just means "I don't like to be pushed too hard"...He's been vetted by multiple schools since the incident. I don't buy it - C5
I’m to the point where I don’t think we are getting one. We need to start having a plan. Alabama got a head coach in 48 hours because they had a backup plan.
Just because things don't come together on your timeline doesn't mean there isn't a plan...And yes Alabama put together a complete staff in 3-4 days...And it looks like a staff that was put together in 3-4 days LOL - C5
I appreciate you being objective. I work in the medical field and people don't know how there is a thin line between life and death. All it takes is for your electrolytes to get acutely out of whack, and your heart stops. There have been many marathon runners who've keeled over after a race because they drank so much water they diluted their electrolytes. And kids can have heart defects that don't cause too much issue until they are stressed. Evander Holyfield is a famous example. These days though, any of us who've been jabbed could keel over. In that regard, I've seen more blood clots and neurological issues than I can shake a stick at since the jabs in my patients, my own family, and fellow cyclists. Sorry don't mean to ramble.
Ty for calling out au social media. They more concerned about trolling & getting trolled than becoming the standard. They also are gonna jinx auburn & bama wont skip a beat if they don’t stop the bans trending down bs. Yeah it was funny first few days of Saban retiring & new coach announced but now it’s gotten out of control. I took a step away & started muting ppl & life is much happier. They’re all toxic & act like preteens.
About the nay sayers: if you can’t support the coach in his selection and will not renew your season tickets or your alumni fund…fine walk away and shut up. Someone else is waiting to take your place. Your impact on a program as great as Auburn is negligible. Using the bucket of water analogy; if your hand is in the water it displaces the water but when you remove your hand it goes right back to its original level. Quit being ignorant and lean into the wind that offends you. Auburn will love your support but if you can’t we understand. Just don’t poison the well on your way out. Thanks. WDE!
My concern with durkin is to me hes doesnt seem that good of a coordinator. He doesnt stay places but a year or 2. Wee need someone who will stay longer
If you look at his career trajectory...he typically always leaves for a promotion or when a staff is let go Like I said the only stat I care about from a defensive standpoint is how many points you allow and he is always near the tops of the conference wherever he has been. He'd probably be at AU for a while if he's the guy. I would have zero fears that he would bounce because when you dive into his career and the moves he's made it tells a much clearer picture than him being a job bouncer - C5
Charlie love your show but this DC search is a cluster F.why have a Co DC what coach who is worth his salt is going to come in that situation. If I’m coming I want the whole responsibility and don’t want to be questioned except from HC.Why not name Kelly the DC if he’s good enough to be Co DC.
What's the deal with thr RW recommit? Almost makes ya want to say good luck and move on to 2025. If he decommiting anyway why just recommit unless they came up with some NIL money.
@@AuburnDaily_ why do you think he was fired? He killed a kid. He ran him to death and would not allow treatment and he was berating him and had previously had problems with the same staff almost killing kids. If you’re just using semantics and saying the heat killed him so be it but we all know D J was responsible.
@@AuburnDaily_ you disgust me defending a murderer over being good at football. And not even that good. I could understand will muschamp or someone killing a kid but dj is a bum compared to the greats. He killed a kid. It’s a fact. Why was he fired if it wasn’t for killing a kid? I understand the heat actually killed the kid but he was screaming at him even calling him a pussy, refused to give him water, and had already been warned his staff was about to kill a kid. It is his fault. I don’t give a goddamn fuck about the kid. I could not care less. I know who the fuck killed him.
