Durant brilliant as always, though in this instance he should have steered away from armchair psychoanalysis of Leonardo's sexuality and the attributes and motivations of "all homosexuals." Though he probably considered himself enlightened when judged by the attitudes of the times.

I despair when I read these comments. How badly we have sunk. Few if any made what could even come close to an intelligent comment. I have most of Will Durant's writings and have read most of them; he is by far the best story teller I've ever come across. Sadly his early encounter with a Catholic Jesuit Education turned him in another direction where he shows a constant dislike towards supposed Christian topics or events. Failing to recognize the difference between this Catholic Cult from Biblical Christianity shows a bias throughout his work.

Will Durant was born in 1885 and died in 1981, I think (as I have only experienced his work from this channel and so cannot properly confirm) this came from The Greatest Minds and Ideas of All Time, which was published posthumously.

Yes, but he was an artist and inspired by the man physical form for his art sake the same could be said for the woman form for the two are not different except in child nurturing and bearing. The former in relation to Christ and a patriarch God. No proof of alternative personal life.

This was written before his death in 1981. You can't say they were lies or poor research. He used what information was known at the time. Since WD's death more information has come to light.

Who is this misogynist Will Durant? Claiming Leonardo's mother didn't bother to marry his father. Of course she didn't, she couldn't. She was just used and discarded by the father, as a lot of peasant girls were then. (and still are, probably) and to add to her misery she was not allowed to keep her own child.
