In 2015, Will Ferrel and Kristen Wiig starred in a Lifetime movie titled “A Deadly Adoption.” It’s not a parody. It’s not a comedy. Two famous actor-comedians made a classic Lifetime movie.
Depending on your perspective, this may be the BEST Lifetime movie ever. Or the WORST Lifetime movie ever.
If you get the joke, this movie is AMAZING. Unfortunately, many people - especially movie reviewers who are not familiar with the formulaic TV movie genre - did not get the joke.

i’ve never seen this movie nor probably ever will, but i absolutely love it. the vibes are very much like when you’re talking to a group of strangers, and you say something intentionally, wildly sarcastic or ridiculous , but nobody knows your actual personality and they assume that that’s what you actually think? and only you know how funny the thing you said is.

Another great video. Hmmm. Watching some of those clips give me SNL fake commercials vibes. Also, I laughed when you told us that the sheriff actor asked if this was supported to be a comedy. Lastly, where do I stream Christmas Cookies? And is your fiancé Will Ferrell? Maybe the twist is that he’s Buddy but he now hates Christmas.

Will Ferrel would be PERFECTLY cast as the big city fiancé. Or Buddy took over his dad’s publishing company, but now has become jaded and forgotten the magic of Christmas entirely. I can see it!

I am unsure if the director was in on the joke. Was this just the two actors doing it for an inside joke? Like no one else knew but them? That's dedication, I'm sure these are churned out quick but it still would have been at least a few weeks of filming.

I feel like the director would HAVE to be in on it, but it would be funnier if she wasn't. Out of curiosity, I googled the director and found this tidbit: "Rachel Lee Goldenberg is an American film director and screenwriter. She has directed a number of feature films and television episodes. She had her breakthrough after she was discovered by Will Ferrell, who gave her the opportunity to direct the Lifetime television film A Deadly Adoption, in which he starred." This was her breakthrough!

The fact TV Movies are ineligible for Oscars may be the greatest awards related scandal of our time. Where was Bryan Safi's award for his amazingly convincing portrayal of Charlie. It's pure discrimination and I will not stand for it!

I honestly didn't understand why this movie was supposed to be funny or even what it was meant to be. It really is confusing to someone who doesn't know what they're doing. Thanks for the explanation. I still don't get most of the references and such but this video really helped me understand what they were doing and why. I now at least get it in concept so it's not so mysterious to me anymore

Weird to hear some didnt get the joke right away. I pay good money to see him in a Sci fi original movie. For a similar set up watch Casa De Mi Parde where Ferrell goes into the world of Mexican telenovelas.

@Pug Mugsly Will Ferrell went all in on that one speaking Spanish the whole movie. If there wasn't a language barrier, you'd probably love novelas. They're like hallmark movies cranked up to 11.

@@baldchinchilla I only watched a legit telenovela once on vacation, but it was amazing. There was this incredibly overdramatic sequence with a woman falling down the stairs. And it was so clear that the actress was just slowly rolling from step to step to not get hurt. And then she reached a landing and had to awkwardly roll to keep "falling" down the next set of steps. Other characters were screaming and crying but not making any moves to intervene. It went on for three minutes. Hallmark/Lifetime could only DREAM of reaching those heights.
