Love the content! I am a one truck owner with own authority and this channel has helped me a-lot with my business and can’t wait for more good information!
I absolutely LOVE the videos with Brian in them. Why? He's a no BS kind of guy and it adds authenticity to the claims Ronen makes. It's also refreshing to hear someone speak his truth and not care if he hurts some Karen's feelings. I would have loved to have videos of time in the truck during loading/unloading and how the inside is during downtime/sleeping. A no BS view of those things would be refreshing and informative for a potential new driver on those creature comforts and how to best protect your health/body.
2001 FLD condo full skirts! signature 600@2050 18sp 355 gear. 18,000lb@ 288 gal fuel . 18 gauges and a cummins road relay 4 computer ... Best truck I ever owned!
I drove for only 6 years. I prefer the Cascadia Freightliners over the Volves and Internationals. Those were the only ones I had the opportunity to drive. The only problem I noticed was they rattle more over time. Thanks for your videos, you do a great job.
Excellent wrap up review, Brian!! The maintenance issues you didn't have are the big thing with me (based on the poor experiences I've had with Paccar drivetrains), so I'll likely be looking for a Freightliner next spring.
Very, very… interesting. I have a 2019 VNL with an X15 and auto shift plus 3. I had put in a Carrier APU that virtually eliminated my idling and maintained a very nice comfort level. 90 day average 8.03 mpg. Like you ripped out the stock seat for a Legacy Silver. Computer read outs don’t mean anything, the manual calculations are the only true data. With the current resell market I have been thinking next year of selling it and buying a new Western Star 5700xe. Cascadia frame and drive-train with a much better O/O interior and comfort level. BUT, that one box DPF system scares the hell out of me. On average 400,000 to 800,000 mi life cycle with a $15,000 replacement cost. Maybe the best course of action is to hold the Volvo run it another 7 or 8 years and retire. Even if I had to do an in-frame it would be worth it. I am very interested to see what your decision will be. As for me I would chase my wife around the kitchen table too, like you said. But if after being retired for a few months I think she will be the one chasing me with a butcher knife in one hand and a cellphone talking to her lawyer in another. :-)
Can't believe it's 90 days already. Awesome video. I got really bad news and then really good news this week. Pennsylvania adopted California carb rules as of Jan 1st 2022. What that means for me is since new truck built is pushed off to first quarter of next year 4200 bucks plus 5000 in price increases for 2022 so 9200 bucks added to price. Good news a few people canceled orders and my build date is now December 2021 and don't have to have the new emissions nor the new price increase. So saving 9200 and getting it before Christmas 🎄 😅.
I know one of your first complaints was about the stereo, and I definitely agree. However I'm currently driving some new 2022 Cascadias out to BC , for the company I had been with the past 5.5 years ( getting an Ontario job after this) , and the stereo isn't as bad as older models. I think just changing the front speakers , and the sound might be quite good. If I buy one for myself I expect I would change the rears as well though.
Retire brother 👍👍. I've been in Freightliners since the late 80s- 00. Then other brands, then Cascadias since 2014 up to a 2018. Most common problem I saw in the Detroit powered was DEF issues.... but they are all machines and they all end up in the shop.... Go safe.
I really appreciate the "no bull" analysis of the Cascadia. I have a 2012 Columbia Glider, purchased from Schneider. 955,169 miles on her. Paid for, and I'm hoping to get 4 more years out of it. Being semi retired I don't want 2500$+ a month payments. I appreciate all the guidance I have received from you and ET. Thanks.
Hi, I'm a company driver from Germany, currently driving fresh food (meat, dairy and fish products to be precise). A Month ago my company got a 2022 Mercedes Actros with Mirror cameras and active drive assistant (means, the truck autonomously keeps the lane by camera input, as long as there are lane markings on the road). With an average road speed of 33.5 mph and motorway speed of 53 mph I managed a fuel/mileage ratio of 22.5 Litres/100 km, which equates to around 10.5 miles per gallon. Thank you for your great content. My last company, which is specialized in building site delivery, started such kind of channel too, however, the population of English speakers tends to bay WAY higher then those who understand RU-vid vids in German.
You could always go with western star. New one or older one. Whichever way you want to go. Older one you could get the 12.7 Detroit in it and those things are huge inside. Or a newer one with the dd15 and you can still have the long nose classic look as well.
I have driven Paccar DAF XF 2019 for the last 6 months in Europe. It was full loaded always near 52000-53000 lbs, because I drove a tank. I have no one issue with truck for this period. Total mileage is near 250000 km now.
Did you have any long border crossings? That gets counted as idle by silly systems. I run regional crossing a border every day. A 30minute crossing 6x a week gets me to 3hrs idle alone/week. Add in cooking/coffee making, warm up, etc and you get to over 5% without even trying.
My 2019 is not governed and has gotten over 8 mpg on paper for 3 years. The older body style did a lot worse, but the new body style is great on fuel mileage.
I bought a 2020 Cascadia Freightliner I hate the clutter of wires charging ports otherwise it is not a bad idea truck just anywhere near you can truck Services on Freightliner repair services. Freightliner should offer remote control startup and security lock doors for the bunker control panel near the bed incase you need to lock up when you're resting. Should offer more lights bunkers especially when the top bunk is folded down whether you have two options driver
The upgrade seats in the Cascadia made my ass hurt after only a couple hours daily. I had another with the base cloth seats? Comfortable as hell. Definitely better than the upscale FL seat or for that matter the buckboards in the 21 VNL760 I'm driving now.
Don't get me wrong I would prefer to drive a new truck, just for comfort. Now you have a paid truck with cheap maintenance . Would you seriously trade in that for a 1k payment and better fuel mileage?
I would and am 5.5 mpg vs 9+ t680 = 3000 miles a week with fuel at 3 bucks would be 3500 dollars a month in fuel savings. Plus comfort and reliability to me no brainer
I don't understand why you idle your truck at all if you have an APU? I have the same truck, except 2018, it won't idle any longer then 160 seconds, then it shuts off.
I spent a day in late September in a '22 Cascadia and it had opti idle. I just don't know if that is an option that may not have been in the truck Brian was checking out. Some are definitely opti idle
Totally disappointed... I was expecting to see Ronan do the happy dance in the truck like you mentioned.... Great content and very informative... luv this channel!
Hello. Your channel is amazing. I would like to ask you about axel ratio on yours trucks. Is it less 3,0? I drove Cascadia 2016 and I had 6.2 MPG. Is it really the big difference 2016 and 2021? I think if drive NS, NB, NY, PA MPG won't it be better 7. Thank you
Great series, really hope you can do another 90 days in the T 680. No offense but I just think freightshakers feel cheap. Whatever you end up doing Brian, I hope we get to see it here. Cheers!
Thanks for the review i drive this truck and have for almost two years and if I owned it first thing getting changed is the seat the rest I can be w but I have to have a million dollar seat if im in it for 11 hrs
I just completed my training and im still not sure what truck i want , im leaning towards a freightliner or kenworth , can someone with more experience tell me the pros and cons please ? I will be doing bi weekly but im more curious about comfort comparison and their difference in tight turns etc
Brian has 2 playlists doing full reviews on a 2021 Kenworth T680 and a 2020 Freightliner Cascadia. Check out his videos to get a better understanding for what you might be looking for!
Also wondering do you guys use any fuel and oil add. I'm going to run hotshot secret in the new t680 paccar engine from day one for one it worked in my current truck. Had a turbo problem and I put in the oil treatment in and after 60000 miles turbo is now perfect. So in my mind it works. But would love to have two trucks identical to see results
Which engiene/Truck do u consider best, for different howl? eg, for flat bed ? van ? oversize load ? howling light stuff ? I like yr videos, all users find ém help ful thanks
Well I was driving a 23 Freightliner and a weird thing happened I don't know exactly how but the truck didn't start The 4 ways didn't work and The truck would not start this was at a fuel stop. Had to do something with the Ignition I don't know That monster was outlined in it yeah we are experienced and then a 1/2 an hour later try it again then it started It would turn the key on before the wipers would start going the 4 ways didn't work And then it started working again a little later And the truck only had less than 40000. And it happened on the weekend just imagine how scared we were When that happened. It was something too experienced especially the 2nd time on a truck especially a 2023 system adaptive cruise control be aware of that How that truck will perform 2 years from now who knows but it was kind of interesting to have that happened in a new truck. So I wouldn't sign off on the modernnized version just yet. And of course the steering alignment wasn't that great And a Steer assist It is Something to do to get used to But the truck handled well we get 9 miles or 10 Carrying just about the same amount of weibut But we didn't get to the Miles on the truck added a real quick. So so these newer modern trucks with the headaches add it to them and sensors and all that other stuff might be an issue a little later on the 90 days but make the best of what you got I guess Because they're not going to try to make an old thing work better. They want to see it go away but but somebody's old trucks do run a lot better But maybe if he was Govern and his truck, probably that 5.2 or 6 would be 7 or 8 miles. But that dam clock doesn't wait for anybody.
My 94 379 Pete is down for a engine overhaul. I drove a 2021 cascadia for 7 days and I can’t wait until I get my truck back together. My right leg is beat up from the stupid drink holder and dash. The metal grab bars next to you and by the left knee are a pain in the ass. I’m 6’5” tall and my Pete has more leg room in it. The seat in this cascadia sucks, it’s like riding on a board. I never used the sleeper, I sleep in a holiday inn at night. I think it has a dd13 in it and it is slow and sluggish with the automatic transmission. To each their own. I would never own one of these trucks.
It's easy to say you would buy a new truck and run it for 3 more years. But let's say you were 25 years younger, would that be your first choice in trucks? Do you really think that truck is going to last 7, 8 or years?
I had a 2021 cascadia it was totally gutless as far as power, and yes the factory seats were totally garbage. Mattress was cheap, electric outlets were ridiculous.
Thank you for the quality review. However, I personally do NOT recommend a Freightliner for an O/O or L/P driver. You see so many on the road because they are cheap to build thus cheap to buy. They have been that way since the Century. If a owner op is shelling out over $150k for a truck there is a good chance they will be stuck with that piece of equipment for 5-10 years. Do you really want to listen to dash creak and fall apart after 500k? Because every Freightliner so far does it. I am also a die hard Detroit 60 series fan but all the DD15s I have driven have been very disappointing for performance. If you show me a 10 year old Freightliner with a recent inframe and decent maintenance history for less than 60k I would consider it but no way would i spend the money on a new one. That new T680 However, THAT is a sharp truck and Paccar actually cares about thier build quality. Im looking forward to its review!
No that’s not true sir! Im O/O and im driving 2013 cascadia since 2018 no big issues or getting stuck other than regular maintenance 870k miles so far so plz say I had bud luck with the DD15. The biggest repair I did was crankshaft and houseing replaced also recent clutch replaced it’s 10 speed manual. Come one bro I’m not with the new one but don’t say all dd15s are bad. 🤘🤘💪
