@@dreamadventure8220 REALLY? Can you read this loud: "Tibet is a part of the People's Republic of China. It is an autonomous region of the People's Republic of China. Tibetan culture and Buddhism are part of Chinese culture." -- Public statement from The 14th Dalai Lama, March 15, 2005
Great respect for people who come up with this unresolved issue about TIBET , Since 1959 Tibetans have never given up ,with a great leadership of his holiness our hope to freedom is still alive within all Tibetans

Thank you for the discussion on Tibet and Dalai Lama. The so called “17 point treaty” was illegal because the Chinese army had fought its way upto Chamdo, the capital of Kham. Then, they dictated to the Tibetan Government, either you send a delegation for talks or we are going to “liberate” the central part of Tibet by violence. Tibet sought UN help but nothing came out of it and India refused to help preferring to accept Chinese fabricated claims over Tibet. Nehru was determined to remain a friend of Communist China and sacrificed Tibet on the alter of Sino-India detente. In Beijing, the Tibetans resisted the passage of PLA troops to Tibet. The Chinese general then told the Tibetans, if you are refusing to accept our demands, then it takes only a call to the PLA and it will take over Lhasa by force. Fearful of such terrible bloodshed, they were forced to sign on the dotted line! However, Ngapo Ngawang Jigme, Head of the delegation, did not use the Dalai Lama’s seal which is a confirmation by the Tibetan state. He hid it and the CCP made a fake one to put on the document.
@@tibetanchineseofchina No! The very fact that the Dalai Lama’s seal was not put on the document was to point out that they SIGNED IT UNDER DURESS! Mr Sandhu Rinchen, one of the translator for the delegation writes in his memoir, A LIFE UNFORSEEN on page 144: “one day, during discussion on the Chinese demand to appoint a military and political committee, the Tibetans expressed the view that since TIBET WAS INDEPENDENT COUNTRY, such an administrative office was unnecessary. At this suggestion, the head of the Chinese delegation, LI WEIHAN, BECAME RED IN THE FACE WITH FURY, AND HE PRACTICALLY SCOLDED THE TIBETANS FOR CLAIMING TIBET TO BE A SOVEREIGN STATE! THEN HE THREATENED THEM BY SAYING THAT IF THEY WERE SO ARROGANT AS TO REFUSE TO RECOGNISE TIBET AS PART OF CHINA, THEN THEY COULD GO HOME ANY TIME THEY PLEASED. IN THAT CASE HE ASSURED THEM, ALL HE NEED TO DO WAS TO SEND, JUST ONE, SINGLE WIRELESS MESSAGE, AND CHINESE TROOPS WOULD ADVANCE IMMEDIATELY INTO LHASA”! This clearly shows how the so called “17 Point Treaty” was forced upon the Tibetans at gun point!!! Therefore it is ILLEGAL UNDER INTERNATIONAL LAW AND COVENANTS.
@@user-vy8mp5sv7b No? why are you lying? READ: A public announcement was made by the Dalai Lama to ratify the agreement, his acceptance also being sent to Beijing in the form of a telegram on 24 October 1951:[2] "This year, the plenipotentiary of the Tibetan Local Government, Ngapoi Ngawang Jigme and other five people, arrived in Beijing at the end of April 1951 to conduct peace talks with the plenipotentiary designated by the Central People’s Government. On the basis of friendship, representatives of the both sides signed the agreement on measures for the peaceful liberation of Tibet on 23 May 1951. The Tibet Local Government, as well as ecclesiastic and secular folk, unanimously support this agreement, and under the leadership of Chairman Mao and the Central People's Government, will actively support the People's Liberation Army in Tibet in consolidating national defense, drive out imperialist influences from Tibet, and safeguard the unification of the territory and the sovereignty of the Motherland."[14] Mao Zedong replied on 24 October 1951: Your telegraph on October 24, 1951 has already been received. I thank you for your efforts to implement the agreement on the peaceful liberation of Tibet, and I would like to extend my heartfelt congratulations.[15]
@@tibetanchineseofchina These are Chinese communist propaganda! The Dalai Lama never agreed to the so called “17 point Treaty”. In his memoir known as MY LAND MY PEOPLE, THE DALAI LAMA CLEARY STATES THAT HEARING OF THE SIGNING OF THE DOCUMENT WAS LIKE AN ARROW STRIKING TO HIS HEART!!! He goes on to say that the Tibetan delegation was threatened with personal violence unless they signed on the dotted line! The Dalai Lama never sent such telegrams. THERE WAS NO TELEGRAM CONNECTION BETWEEN TIBET AND CHINA AT THAT TIME! That is why the Tibetan delegation could not sent any message to the Tibetan Government in Lhasa!
No, During Qing dynasty it was directly under control. after fall of qing dynasty, in 1913 tibet declared itself a independence nation. during Sun Yat-Sen administration, tibet act as buffer state between East India Company(British colony) and Republic of China. in 1950 ROC unified tibet to China. Tibet was never a Independent Nation. It was a De Facto Nation since 1912 to 1949. No one recognized Tibet as Independent Country. But recently, US is trying to play a Tibet card against China.
Dalai Lama and Panchen Lama went to China to accept 17 point agreement. They have celebrated with Mao and later they even went as Chinese citizens to vote. Don’t u know?
@@dreamadventure8220 India should not pay lip service to support the Independence of Tibet. If India support the independence of Tibet, that means India reject the One China Policy which means that India must break off diplomatic relations with China. Don't chicken out. ACTION SPEAKS LOUDER THAN WORDS. India should not give false hopes to the Tibetan Separatists. Don't behave like a 2=headed snake.
McMohan border line between British India and Independent Tibet was accepted by both countries; now if distant neighbour China illegally occupied Tibet does not mean India need to again sign border aggreement with China
Let's always loudly speak to truth about Tibet which consists of ÜTsang, Kham and Amdo or Tibet and Tibet's Qinghai, Gansu, Sichuan and Yunnan regions and more. It was illegally annexed in 1959, is not part of China nor is it an off limits China internal affairs matter.
I am utterly grateful for the facts spoken by the panel, and the gracious host. Tibet matter is ultimately a test against humanity, and struggle between good and evil. If India and United States continue to fall short of declaring Tibet’s independence with their efforts, nothing will change. No one country is powerful enough to force China to change, but by declaring Tibet’s independence, it will have unleashed a tremendous power for truth and immense hope for the Tibetan people. Otherwise, any steps taken will be a temporary and bounce off the veils of lies as “China’s internal matter”. Time is on China’s side and it is now or never situation, but not if Tibet is recognized as a free nation and represented in United Nations. India and US, please do not repeat the loss opportunities!!!
It was happily accepted. That’s why Dalai Lama is seeking middle way which is same thing. don’t u know few days after the treaty Dalai Lama and Panchen Lama went to China for celebrations and to vote as Chinese citizens?
Yes, Tibet Resolve Act of US law is the beginning of the end of communist China’s illegal occupation. I’m sure that more countries will follow the suit and speak out the truth “Tibet was an independent nation.” and will fight against China’s Propaganda & misinformation, twist of history. His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s reincarnation is a religious matter and communist China who is an atheist, who not only believes in religion but suppresses any form of religion has absolutely no business in reincarnation maters. His Holiness is still healthy and probably out live the dictator Xi as speaker Nancy Pelosi mentioned. Long live His Holiness the Dalai Lama! Free Tibet!❤❤
The US so called concern for the Tibetan people’s humane rights is such a contrast to its concern for the human rights of the Palestinian civilian’s being slaughtered with US weapons in Gaza.
Dalai Lama cannot be appointed by any nation if they do then it would be a big disaster for every tibetan. We are watching this situation with eyes wide open.

Tibet is already free from slavery. Do you know that more than 90% of the Tibetan were slaves before 1951 under the Tibetan feudal system. Do you know that the upper class Tibetan monks were slave owners?
Thank you for this discussion. I’m not an international lawyer. However, I’m wondering about the following points: 1) If I heard things correctly, the 17-point agreement was signed by a Tibetan official at that time under intimidation. So, the questions are: 1) Did this person have the authorization to sign such agreement? If yes, where in the Tibetan Constitution at that time indicates that official had the authorization to do so. If this evidence could not be found, then the agreement should be invalidated. 2) Did China fulfill its side of the agreement? Did it protect Tibetans and let Tibetans have the rights and freedoms specified in China’s Constitutions? If we do not allow abusing parents to have control over the children, why do we let abusing regime have control over abused people? Why do we let China have the freedom to occupy any land/island it wants to and annihilate people of the occupied countries? If we let China do these things now, then in the future, do not complain that your countries can not compete with China for low-cost labor and for having rare earth resources because we let China gets to that position. And what does China do to people who voiced their opinions?

This was an interesting talk indeed. I would like to mention to the viewer that China asserts that Tibet has been an integral part of its territory since ancient times. However, the ongoing border conflict between India and China remains unresolved. The historical record shows that there has never been any legal or formal agreement on border issues between India and China, primarily because Tibet was an independent nation, sharing border with India for centuries to the south and west. The current border or Line of Actual Control, was established by the Simla Convention signed between India and Tibet in 1914. This lack of formal, recognised border agreement between India and China undermines China's narrative, suggesting that its claim over Tibet is unfounded and historically baseless claim.
The simla convention was signed between the British and tibet in 1914, i fixed it for you. India didn't become an indian country until 1947. Also india is occupying tibetan territory but no one wants to have that conversation. Also how about a conversation about the two British invasion of tibet the first in 1888 and then in 1903. Y'all are delusional
The problem was that the British invited the Chinese because Tibet was part of China. If china wasn't relevant why invite China? British couldn't get China signature so the border wasn't finalized. Here's something for you to read. The Convention Between Great Britain and China Respecting Tibet -- was a treaty signed between the Qing dynasty and the British Empire in 1906, as a follow-on to the 1904 Convention of Lhasa between the British Empire and Tibet. It reaffirmed the Chinese possession of Tibet after the British expedition to Tibet in 1903-1904. The British agreed not to annex or interfere in Tibet in return for indemnity from the Chinese government, while China engaged "not to permit any other foreign state to interfere with the territory or internal administration of Tibet" reaffirmed = confirm again possession = ownership. This was in 1906. Only after the Qing fell in 1912 the British tried to be slick and use the Simla Convention in 1914 but for all the British Effort none of the successor chinese govt recognizes this. British only tried to take advantage of China's warlord civil war to sign the deal with Tibet only. Since China didn't sign it despite being the owner of Tibet then it's akin to a governor signing over his state's land and expecting the federal govt to just agree. Do they teach this in India? You can't just only use the Treaties that the British sign that favors the Indians only. How about this treaty above also signed by British that says Tibet is part of China?
