This short video explores the functionality of an antique shotgun in which I attempt to fire a couple of black-powder blanks to see if the hammer and firing pins are still functional. Weapons of this age should never be tested with a modern cartridge. It was built to fire black powder ammo only. Current cordite shells, with a full load of shot are way more powerful and will in all likelihood cause the breach to fail, blowing up both the gun, and likely it’s owner too. Watch to see if the old saying is true - “They don’t make ‘em like they used to.”. And remember, even blanks can generate dangerous forces at the muzzle; so enjoy, but do not try this yourselves people. In a future video, I’ll make a nice oak wall mount for this gun as most weapons of this age should be enjoyed for their aesthetic, more than their questionable ability to be safely fired.
