The best thing about a tractor if you take care of it, it will last a life time. And if you abuse one it will still last a life time just have to add parts
I can see why the other feller wanted her. He can watch her pull and watch she doesn't smoke under heavy load and she has a new clutch that doesn't feel like your Steiger did upon purchase. Watching her pull in the mud I see Bearcat is appropriate.
Nice to see the Green Bastard back to work. Impressive on that clutch replacement being a one man operation and in the conditions and tools you have available. Happy New Year!
JT. its hard just to roll up your sleeves and dive in to something you don;t know about and face and figure out the obsticales..appreciate your grit and determination
Happy Next Year. I particularly enjoy watching the GB videos , as they bring back memories of the 80s. I was a parts manager for a dealership that sold factory reconditioned Wildcat,Bearcat and Cougars as well as new models . Listening to the sound of the engine takes me way back and also reminds me of a trip to Fargo to see the huge factory when it was in its glory days. P.S. I enjoy all of your videos All the best From Canada
Great job you did on the old girl glad that everything seems to be working Ok. too bad you have so much mud. where I live is like you have been raining off and on for several days.
Drought??? What drought?! At least that digger bites the soil. Ground frozen solid here, digger skids along on the top. Looks like the clutch job turned out well! A good feeling I'm sure! Happy New Year and best wishes to you JT and your family!
👍. Hopefully we will see some positive changes in 2024. We went through a drought from August - October but in the last month we’ve got well over a foot of rain. I miss Spring and Summer already.
You need what we call a Sub Soiler, 1,2,3,5 big heavy duty tines, that sink in below the depth of plough/ plow to break the hard pan up, that way, sirface water drains away.
That field needs a subsoiler. I just acquired it this fall and it had been neglected. I was hoping the chisel plow would do more for it but just couldn’t get the result I wanted. I have a subsoiler that might need to come out of the fence row.
JT, I just can’t figure out why someone would let that thing sit and rot in a field for over a decade? That thing is AWESOME! Would love to see it on duals! Way to go on the clutch. I feel like you are going to have a real reliable rig there. Your willingness to dig into that work has motivated me to take on some projects of my own that needed doing. Love your channel have a great new year!!
Can't let a little mud bring a holt to day to day operations...I'll have less to watch over the weekend 😢. Glad to hear that the clutch is working smoothly 👍 good job.
Excellent video JT :) yes super muddy my area of Ontario Canada to it been rain for 8 days straight and over 3. 5 inches so far and horrible! But one fill up water table in ground plus wells to lots also ! Yes Spring better come soon and lots sunshine to dry up to! Happy New Year 2024 Ahead JT :) also looking forward more videos too you put up soon!
Looks like the old girl is running strong! Too bad the tires are a little bit worn. Putting on new tires requires a second mortgage on the farm! Have a Happy New Year JT!😊😊😊😊😊
Hey Joe,,,good to see clutch repair is a solid hit. Everything is mud,,even here in Wisconsin. Thanks for the tillage video. Rare this time of year. Happy new year. Cheers!!
merry Christmas's and new year great to see the old green goddess taking everything in its stride she looks like a a calendrer model i think miss July great vid as always
Certainly give that clutch a good test, looks like it'll be able to earn it's keep now.👍been from the UK I'd be swamped with seagulls working a field like that can't believe there's not one in sight. 😂
Untill recently, here in Southern Illinois, it didn't rain for almost 3 months. Really from spring to late fall. We got a few sprinkles here and there, but that was about it.
Making a nice job. But tell me, do you guys ever plough? Being from Scottish farming background and now living in Australia, we used to plough up the land at the back end of the year and let the frosty weather create a nice fine tilth in spring for sowing. Would love to see that big brute ploughing. Love your videos mate. Cheers
Great job on the GB. So nice when something you work hard on works out! Im hoping that you somehow come up with a 4800 series. All my life I've wanted a 4900. And dreamed of the ever-elusive 5200. Happy New Year everyone
Happy New Year, first of all, to you and your family. Glad the clutch repair worked out. Is there a 4840 or 4880 coming to the farm? The farmer that farmed our 80 acres, before we bought it had an 1805 and a 4840 Massey. The 1805 sounded good running around the field, but the 903 powered 4840 sounded awesome and you could tell from a quarter mile away how hard it was being worked. Thanks for the videos, maybe you could raise rice or ducks in the wet field.
TILING IS THE BEST INVESTMENT EVER THAT A FARMER CAN DO FOR THEIR LAND. LET IT GET A LITTLE COLDER AND MOLD BOARD PLOW IT. WILL DRY OUT QUICKER AND DIG UP EASIER IN SPRING.
How do j.t. hope you had a good Xmas. Your not the only one can't get in the fields it's bin raining nearly all month over here. Is the drawbar sir post to swing that much on the old green machine. Hope you have good new year. From Andy in uk
In my travels as a trucker I have seen a few older Steigers a road construction crew in Minnesota has 2 old Cougar 1's and a Cougar 2 pulling scrapper pans and all 3 were running strong
@@spike3082were they green or yellow? A very, very small amount of industrial series 1s and 2s were made but they’re super rare. I cannot emphasize how rare they are accurately enough.
How do you find all these tractors? I buy junk and fix it,but seems like you find some good ones!!!! I’m in Pennsylvania maybe that has something to do with it. Love the channel
You need to buy a hovercraft it is unbelievable I live about 35 minutes outside of Buffalo New York and it is just so swampy I go in the field to spread manure and it's just like you cut in four or five inches I am about so sick of rain I wish it would freeze this week is looking better for 30°temperatures
You must live in the middle of the state, i live on the west side by lake Michigan. I cant believe how much you look like my nephew, i get a kick out that.
@@jtsbarnngrill6873to the wife: new projects to fix and sell. To me: new toys to play with! Started out with Tonka toys and they grew to 22,000 pounds! 😅
That’s why I called it quits. Sometimes when the ground gets a little frost on it we can do some chiseling and get away with it, done it in the past successfully. This year that isn’t going to happen
@@jtsbarnngrill6873 definitely wouldn't want to get that front disk section loaded up solid with mud! Been there, done that! What a job getting it cleaned out! 🤬
The Green Bastard steering sounds like you need to check it. Listen to your video every turn it just does not sound smooth. Great work on the clutch you have a healthy transmission again.
You are correct. It doesn’t steer that great, I believe the orbital motor is shot. Just haven’t dug into that yet. It turns left fairly well but not so much on right turns
Looks like it ll work good for another 20 years,,just keep your farming expensive low and stay away from the smiling banksters and your ll do just find ,,farming is a struggle as I was farming with my dad for from the age of 5 to 20 years old ,,1250 arcers
