I have a comment about your ghostbuster Hearst it really more incoming with another hearst from the state of Texas . Your hearst looked like the Hearst the took JFK from the hospital in Dallas to the airport he was shot in 1963 but the funeral home that sold the casket for transport just bought a brand new 1964 Hearst that was almost identical to yours before you chopped it up to the ghostbuster. The real hearst was sold at Barret Jackson auction. There is a You Tube channel called (Ask a mortician) that shows several pictures of that car a tells a pretty wild story of what happened that day. One of the crazy things that day the secret service basically stold the Hearst and took JFK to the airport. So I think your Hearst is a ghost busters plus

Glad to see you got the old girl running!! I have a 47 CJ2A that I just finished rebuilding the entire drive train on. I believe those CJ3bs still used the t90 transmission and spicer 18 transfer case. There isn’t much to those transmissions, just a simple 3 speed and parts are readily available. Biggest thing to watch out for is the 2-3 shifting collar. They wear out over time, in turn causing the jeep to pop out of second on deaccleration. It’s a fun time packing the 88 little needle bearings into the cluster gear/counter shaft! If it were me I’d fix the transmission, brakes and just use it as an off-road rig! The f head engine design always intrigues me, mine has the l head go devil l134.
@DARANGULAFILM
@DARANGULAFILM 2 года назад
The British Rover 90 6 cylinder engine had the same side-valve/overhead valve system. A four cylinder version was used on the first Landrovers, then a conventional overhead valve four cylinder then the side valve/overhead valve six cylinder engine. The ignition timing on the six cylinder engine was in retard at idle speeds. They would produce power right down to stalled which made power control superbly manageable offroad. However performance was not all that great compared to the emerging Toyota Landcuisers and Nissan Patrols of two-thirds to nearly twice the cubic displacement.

So appreciate your videos. Wish they came out more often though when you have to deal with these stuck engines and wait a week or more to them just to allow them marinade it's understandable. So thankful as well not to hear any cussing and ribald comments as are in a lot of these types of sites. Times I can't stand it and just pull out and delete. As said before I am here in Eastern Europe and so a treat for me to have something to enjoy. More so as now with the war going on and we doing all we can with refugees and orphans. Could use some prayers... as hey... on where can I ask for prayer anywhere else? Thanks...

I’ve personally had good luck using motorkote hyper lube to free up a stuck engine. It actually soaks into the metal allowing the rings to brake free. Usually let it soak for 24 house. Hopefully this method will work for you also.

I must be missing something. I’ve watched about a dozen of your videos at this point and not to throw shade or troll you, but you don’t actually “restore” the vehicles you find. You get them running yes…but is that restoring them ? IMO no, it’s not. Here’s what I would be interested in seeing you do actually restoring a project vehicle from start to factory finish and that includes REPLACING all the parts that are rusted, and manufacturing ones that you can’t buy. THAT would be a full restoration.

I have a 46 Cj2a.... The only problem is that I live in the northern US, so everything is rusted out - except for what the previous owner (before my grandfather) replaced with aluminum (because it rusted out) Last tags were from 84 and I started working on it 2021. Hood was down, clutch and brake pedals were frozen. Got a good battery and it fired right up. Cleaned points and checked spark plugs to get it running, but it really wanted to come alive.

Willy's CJ3B Jeeps were being produced under licence in India by Mahindra virtually unchanged till 1966, complete with the left hand steering wheel. Then in '67 the licence probably expired and manufacturing switched to the right hand drive, which is more suited for Indian traffic. In the hill areas these jeeps were much loved as their 4x4 took them to impossible places. The powerful rumble of the Hurricane F head engine and typical whine from the transmission is one of my fond memories of childhood, as we bumped about sitting in the back on the rear mudguards which served as the rear seats. The rear seat provided by the manufacturer was immediately removed after purchase because the space was needed for luggage or other goods.

To start with, irch that POS engine which is woefully under powered and replace it with a Pinto 2300 or small V/6. What they need is about 100 horsepower to make a good driveable Jeep with the power you need to get out of tough plac. The next thing is to install a Saginaw GM style steering box and one piece steering rod, this wi,l eliminate the wiggle wobbles.

Have a 53 Willys pickup with the 134F head that was stuck as well. I also had to remove the head and gently beat a block of wood to unstick it. It had water in the 4th or rear cylinder. I ended up rebuilding a different F head motor and am in the process of having the transmission and transfer case redone. I figured might as well address what I would no doubt have to deal with eventually anyway. When I drained the transmission/transfer case there was minimal fluid and it didn't look good. Hopefully have it under it's own power this summer. You rapping on the block of wood brought a smile to my face. unfortunately the 4th cylinder wall was too pitted.

Only one way to unseize a motor fast is with brake fluid. Let sit overnight, then use a 1/2 " drive breaker bar. Only try to go about an inch, then come back that inch. Whatever distance you move it forward, you have to keep coming back the same amount. You don't want to crack the rings. Don't force it. For the real bad ones, you may have to remove the top cover of the trans, & fill it with brake fluid too.

Sounds like an old wood-burning train trying to build steam. Did you try mouse milk or break free to loosen the engine? Heat the block with a hair drier or heat gun, maybe get the metal to expand so penetrating oil can seep in. Just a suggestion. Not telling you how. I've learned more from watching ya'll than I could ever think of teaching you.

The shows that the owners won't sell, ( even after they've been sitting for 50+ years) are sad. I would get emotionally attached to a vehicle I was resurecting from the grave. Dig it up, fix it, then give it back to the " owner", is crazy.

I know this may not have anything to do with this video but I was wondering if you guys saw my comment about the little 4-cylinder car putting the starter on 24 volts and a stronger combustible down the throat of the carburetor stronger than gas or starting fluid???

Great video. I used to have a 1953 CJ 3 A with Aluminum top. Ran great!

Second time watching this, still impressed. I have a '58 model running and driving here in Oz and possibly buying a second one that's a basket case - at least I'll have some spare parts.

I think you should restore this Jeep to Army Specs and donate to Veterans Museum. Good job on unlocking the engine - AGAIN!!!!!!!

Awesome! I love it! Fix it up lets see some build videos! I have a 77 Jeep CJ7 that I found in a barn and slowly restored, and now I daily drive it. I love driving around in a vintage Jeep with no top or doors.

Josh a Good 24 - 48 hr. Soak Solution although not the cheapest, It works better than most, is 3 parts ATF to 1 part Acetone. It eats rust very well.
