Hey Dylan, I know it's nothing like this, and maybe you never get to read this, but I just want to tell you my story anyway. Eversince I was a teenager I was in love with cars. Especially the 50s, 60s, 70s American machines, but also the Japanese beauties of the 80s and 90s. I live in hungary, so I always watched your videos about these awesome cars with a sad feeling, that I'll never be able to do something like this, in one hand because these cars here, are as rare as Ferraris, and also like any other teenager, I had little to no money( in hungary there's no such thing like a "highschool car", people that get a car before 20 are really rare). Me and my friend always looked in gardens from the street that had a car sitting in the bushes, and we always dreamed about some day we find someone who will give the car to us, because he doesn't use it anymore. I thought this all will be a dream forever, however everything changed a few months ago. My father met with his friend at the church ( he and his family live a couple streets from us, but they usually see each other after church), and somehow my father mentioned my love towards cars. His friend responded with he's got an old Toyota that he want to sell. At first I got really excited but as I tought about it, I couldn't afford to buy the car, AND also fix up all it's issues, because it was parked for about a year at that time. The next time my father and his friend met, his friend heard about my financial situation and sad he would be happy to give it to me FOR FREE. I could not process it :D. Oh and guess what: it's a Japanese, 93 Corolla, and also a liftback model which is by far my favourite of all body types, and also because my grandfather also had a liftback Toyota, and basically I spent my entire childhood in that car. So now I have my very own car in the garden, and now I can do what you do every time: put it back on the road, fix it and enjoy it. I can't express how happy I am to finally get the chance to be a part of this community. I know it's nothing like the cars over in america, it's a four cylinder, 1.3, fwd, 88 hp little car, but I love it as hell, and it will be my treasure forever. Thank you to whoever read this enormous comment, have a nice day. :)

I have a 71 Cutlass that I found in an old carriaige house type garage that had sat since 1985, I got it on a Friday night and drove it to a cruise in on Saturday night! I ran all new steel lines from the prop valve to the new wheel cylinders I put in and of course I replaced the master cylinder and worn out brake shoes! Everyone was trying to tell me to put it up for sale but it hasn't happened yet! This car holds the record for me buying parts cars to put it together with! I bought eight of them! But one was solid enough to make into a runner! It was a 70 that someone put a 71 rear bumper on it so I put it on my car to because mine had rust holes and peeling chrome in it! Really made my car look better! The other car I bought had a kind of raggedy set of Cragars that I put on the 70 that surrendered it's 71 rear bumper because it had a set of SS II Rallys with bias ply tires that I sand blasted and painted white to match my car ! Also the other parts car surrendered it's rocker panel mouldings to replace the set on mine that had screw holes in them from the painter drilling holes in them! What a mess! Then I found a 71 Cutlass on Ebay that the owner couldn't seem to give away for his Buy it now price of $800.00 So I got in touch with the guy and told him that I had $800.00 waiting for him when he got to my shop with it no questions asked or negotiations on the price I wanted the car! When he got to my shop with it I had $800.00 in my shirt pocket waiting for him and handed it to him as soon as he walked through the office door! He didn't know what to think! Anyway we rolled it off of the trailer and were pushing it in to a parking place and I told the guy steering to steer it towards the frame rack so I could get something I wanted off of the car easier with it up on the rack! I just happened to have the 70 that I had gotten the nice 71 rear bumper off of on one rack and when we got the car that the guy had just brought up on the other rack I said that I couldn't believe my good luck so far on the Cutlass! I pointed to the rear bumper on the 71 he just brought me and said that is great luck! The 70 parts car had an almost perfect 71 bumper on it so I switched it to my car Now I just bought a 71 Cutlass and it has an almost perfect 70 rear bumper on it for my 70! It blew everyone's mind that I had that good of luck! The tentative deal I had with the guy was $750 and an NOS right front wheel opening moulding for a 70/72 Buick GS, I had already given him the 800 so I got him the moulding out of the car on the other rack and handed it to him and said we're even! He didn't know what to think! I told him that the bumper was a hell of a bonus and I also noticed the front tires were the perfect size for the car too! So the parts car was a good deal for me! And I wanted it to be a good deal for him! Then a week later I found a couple of 71/72 Cutlasses at my favorite junkyard and the owner said he messed up and paid too much for them when scrap was real high and then it dropped right after he bought them and he was going to lose money so I made a deal with him to give him 6 junkers I had and $800 for them to help him and me both out! So he hauled two Cutlasses to my shop and picked his junkers up! That is 5 of the parts cars I picked up to do this car! Only three more! Sorry to ramble on but that's what happens when you get to talking about old cars!

Love this build. At heart, I am a Moparian. But I like my Chevys too. I am 63yo. Back in late 70s I had a 1971 Malibu 350. Northern car moved to Florida, no A/C. Build sheet. Car was 350, 4 barrel, buckets, console, 4 speed, 12 bolt 373. Ordered with single exhaust for some odd reason. Miss that car. So this build hits home for me. thank you for bringing her back to life.

Just an FYI, the spindles are left rough cast and only machined where the race and bearing sit. I have seen that many times on old Chevy's.

"and I'm about to put it back on the road...." engine stalls and silence. LOL I've really enjoyed seeing you bring this old Chevelle back around. This is the kind of car I'd just keep making it mechanically sound 100%, then maybe clean up and fix a few interior bits and just drive it. I'd have to find the parts to fix the AC though, I'm not a fan of hot weather.

Boy, do I love the round tail lights. Just classic. The fun you're having driving that car around is the same fun and joy I have driving my 68 C10. Every time. I've never had a bad time driving my truck. Even when it's broken down on the road. Still a joy. Edit: While you're not...wrong...I've never seen an HEI clocked like that.

Awesome I love that you helped get it going and then he will be more motivated and wouldn't have the headaches involved with getting it running again,I've actually done the same thing a few times for friends of mine.. difference is I didn't have a RU-vid channel and wasn't concerned about getting recognition for it and one of them was a best friend the other one that comes to mind is like a brother to me I've known him since the 4th grade.. anyways I just helped him get something he could reliably drive to help him finish hauling parts for fixing a car he owed money on..to be able to get it so it could be driven too.. and in the case of my best friend I would have paid for way more of the parts than I did and not charged him for fixing it.just because he was my best friend.. anyways great job Dylan sir.

I remember back in 1981 I had a 1975 Chevy truck and was coming home around 11pm and my alternator belt broke so I pulled over when I noticed my headlights were getting too dim to see and was about 8 miles from the house. I called my dad from a pay phone and told him where I was and what my situation was. about 10 minuets later he showed up half asleep with my moms panty hose and made me a temporary alternator belt out of pair of pantyhose. That was the day I found out my dad was MacGyver. It got me home when all auto part stores were closed. I would of never thought of doing that or believe it would work but it did.
