1486 with the tough DT436. About 150hp tractor. Most likely low on hydraulic fluid. Thats what it uses for the brakes and the steering. Dipstick is right next to the top link for the 3 point on the back. Tough old tractors. I've learned to throttle way back and "double clutch" them to make em shift alot nicer. Adjusting the clutch and trans brake usually fixes those issues.

i used to drive a tractor just like that back in the 90's working on the farm. we used it to run a round baler and feed cows. was a very good and comfortable tractor. the floorboard comes off in the cab with a few bolts and the starter is under it easy to change and ive changed a few

I think that is a D414 or DT 414 engine or a D 436 maybe DT 436. Yes with that fuel system the throttle cable shuts down the engine. I am sorry that was not awsome that was just another day of being Wiley.

I raked a lot of hay with one of those international tractors my grandfather put me on it and told me to keep it between the bushes and you'll be fine I like the old ones they'll run for ever

Thank you Steve, I am always amazed or maybe surprised when a machine that has been sitting so long bust off like that. 2-3-4 years is a long time . I bet the hydrologic fluid is low it runs all the steering and brakes. I would like to see the price they are good tractors yes the starter is underneath the platform in the cab. I'm Cody from Oklahoma.

The throttle all the way down on all international is the kill. High gear is down and low is up and you should have four speeds beside it, the steering pump in those go bad after thirty years, I had a 806, after running it a few minutes the steering would start working.

The 1486 runs nice, it’s done some real pulling in it’s day. The drawbar is pretty well shot. 600 or800 ford, just guessing those axle extensions are probably rare. I’d use a forklift bottle setup on the LP case. Thank you for another great video.

I grew up farming with a 886 986 and 1086 with my dad, the 1486 1586 where probably around 145 hp - 160 hp

We had a 986 and a 1086 - the 986 was set up for row-crop (tire spacing) on the front and rear axels, and our 1086 was set with the real duals closer together for working summer fallow. I kept yelling at the screen for him to pull the torque converter lever back into the down position :)

The parking gear (which is also reverse) is smoked In that tractor. If you listen close when he is going in reverse you can hear it clicking. Someone at some.point put it into park while it was moving.

Love those IH 86 series tractors! The grinding noise is normal. There's a trans brake that can be adjusted to make it grind less, but it's just nature of the beast on those unfortunately. One of the few down sides of them. Stock that should be 145 hp or so. We have two and they're bitb turned up to around 170. One has over 25000 hours and the it her has over 20000. Still use them a lot. Good heat and cold A/C. Awesome tractors.

The yellow cap under the propane tank on the left should come off and a fill hose hook up there. As another comment mentioned, be careful with the old hoses.

a neat trick if you dont have starting fluid use wd40 it will fire and it lubricates the cylinders

I'm watching you video the lp tractor is an 800 case case-o-matic it like these tractor run forever it is easy to fill if you have a nurse tank and lines,I know these tractors grow up with running every day on the farm it's to bad you are so far away I'm in north dakota.but if you have questions I can answer most of them we had our own shop we fixed our own tractors and some neighbors

I’m betting it needs hydraulic oil, thats what controls your brakes and steering. We got 150 horsepower out of our 1486 when it was put on the pto dyno. That was after a new motor.

Slow your engine speed down before you try to put it in gear so it won’t grind , I have a 986 it barley turns over before it starts, love those old IH tractors.
