Logan went hard with that "I love you but you're not serious people" line but he's a failure of a father and why they're like that. He abuses his kids and each time they're in a position to succeed and potentially surpass him he smashes that up for them. So it's a bit rich for him to berate them like that and call them unserious. Lol ugh, I hate narcissistic abusive parents.

They are responsible for their own lives, at least as much as their father is. There are people who had no father, who had physically abusing fathers, who had fathers die in wars or come back with PTSD etc...... the kids are responsible for their own lives. Each of them is rich enough to start a new life far away from Logan, but none of them even tried that once.
@@johnjungkook2721 I think the original comment was specifically referring to that line about them not being serious people and how its hypocritical/ironic for him to say that because he is the one who raised them. I don't think anyone who watches the show would ever unironically suggest that the roy kids are not responsible for their actions, but to ignore logan's part to play in the way that they are now ould be ignoring a huge theme of the show
@@johnjungkook2721 What you're talking about is not what it is *instead.* And Logan is potentially worse (on an emotional/psyche/behavioral level, of course not as a pure provider...) than having no father. So it is rich for him to insult them that way. Plus it's not zero sum. The fact that there are all flavors/kinds of familial strife is not a line to "and therefore it's irrelevant that Logan is terrible to them." It's weird and dramatic but also heartbreaking and so fitting for Connor. I really felt for him this episode. He's having such a rough night, and his family are just too engaged in other matters to truly show him any real support or even sing a little karaoke. 😢 Succession is such a fascinating show. It really engages you into the fragile mindsets of all it's characters. I can't help but sympathise with the siblings despite the multitude of despicable actions they commit throughout the series. I know I felt torn watching throughout, and it's been really fun to experience that again through your reactions! 🤩👏
Connor has the most exact line in the series, in my opinion. All the Roys want is Logan’s love and attention. He built his kids to need his approval to everything. Now, they cant make decisions on their own. It’s so sad.
Strange thought, but the way Logan manipulates his kids reminds me how a 3- or 4-year-old gets their way with parents. A, "Do you want to make me sad by not buying ice cream?" kinda thing. Except a kid is not being malicious; it just sees what works and repeats it. Logan, however, is being malicious. But he's so broken as a human being that he doesn't even see how terrible his actions are. They show this in little scenes throughout the show. Logan will rant about lazy homeless people or others not being good enough, as if he's absolving himself of being the main agent of other people's misfortunes.
There was a lot of truth bombs this episode from Logan calling them not serious people to Connor’s speech at how the rest of the siblings just want validation and love from them a brilliant episode
real great episode for the conheads! connor has largely existed in the background, especially compared to the three, but those few lines added so much color and context to his character. man i really love the writing in the show but especially this season

You have all said it at one point in the series, they’re children trying hard to be players, they’re not serious business people. They’re just trying to gain some affections and approval from their father.
I think back to what Marcia said to Shiv: "He made you a playground, and you think it's a whole world." The three sibs are jokes. None of them have done anything to indicate that they know what they are doing. When Logan says he trusts his gut and they think their assessments are equally valid... totally laughable.
Each time they make a move he beats it out of them figuratively and literally in Roman's case so a lot of that is on him. I take his comments at face value because whenever Logan is upset he is known to say hurtful things just because his ego is bruised. He didn't like his kids ganging up on him and potentially besting him so he tried to tear them down.
It's not that Logan doesn't want Tom and Shiv to divorce (he felt Tom was beneath her), he advised Tom re. the divorce lawyers solely to screw Shiv over.
