In this episode of Door Bumper Clear, the crew wonders if Kyle Larson will be granted a waiver by NASCAR and the effects of such a decision. They then break down the NASCAR Cup Series race at Gateway and Austin Cindric's stellar performance. Plus, they get into the nitty-gritty of spotting at the St. Louis race, the current state of the Truck Series, and what it's like to fly in a small plane.
They discuss the hurdles drivers and teams face ahead and how these shake up the playoff standings. They also dive deep into team ownership dynamics and what happens to folks when teams shut down.
And there’s more! They cover race strategy, the always-entertaining reaction theatre, SMT data sharing, and their picks for Sonoma.

If Larson does not get a wavier, Larson and Hendrick should go trophy hunting and win as many races as possible(hopefully like 7 or 8 wins). Then let Nascar explain how their "playoff championship" system is a good system to award a champion that awards winning. This also could backfire on Nascar with the charter agreement because you already have 23XI and Michael Jordan not happy. Hendrick could be pissed at Nascar. Penske could be pissed for discouraging racers doing the double. And you just had a previous championship level 4 car team fold because they lost interest in the series. Nascar could end up with more unhappy owners than they anticipated.
@MaKoMaZe
@MaKoMaZe 29 дней назад
Anyone who thinks Larson shouldn't get a waiver believes their driver could not win the championship with Larson in the playoffs. This is arguably the biggest race in all of motorsports and he was attempting a double bringing massive attention to both events. In my opinion, I don't see how anyone who wins the championship this year doesn't have an asterisk by it if Larson is not in the playoffs. The only reason I could see Hendrick not being as upset about this is the fact the Number 5 car is still in the lead for Owners points (I believe).

As I recall, the waiver system came out to keep your one hit wonders from racing once or twice, winning a race and not showing up again til the playoffs. If I recall correctly, Larson has made his best physical efforts to fulfill all commitments so should be given a waiver. If I'm wrong, nascar has a precedent set of giving everyone waivers so he should also get a waiver ESPECIALLY because it's on nascar they didn't finish the race
@joshandkorinna
@joshandkorinna 28 дней назад
The rule is you have to be there for the start of the race. Look, I think he probably should get a waiver, but no, he didn't make his best physical effort to start the Coke 600. They had been saying for weeks that their priority was was the Coke 600. That if something like weather happened, they would skip the Indy 500 and make the start of the Coke 600 instead because their priority was NASCAR because that is the championship they're contending for. It wasn't until race day that Larson, Hendrick, and Gordon started changing their tune. Clearly their priority was the Indy 500, not the Coke 600. His "best physical effort to fulfill commitments" would have been to skip the Indy 500 once it got delayed. They probably should still give it to him though because overall the whole thing was a net positive for the sport and there is specifically a clause that says, "unless otherwise authorized by NASCAR." So there's a built in loophole for them to let him have the waiver. But I understand their side too. They don't want drivers doing this all the time. What if in a couple years 3 or 4 drivers do the double, and there's an Indy 500 weather delay and they all choose the Indy 500 over the Coke 600. If I was a NASCAR fan at the Coke 600 and 4 star drivers are missing the race. I'd be kinda ticked.

I agree with Casey on the “ rising tide floats all boats” cause for example when Pastrana raced the Daytona 500, I had many friends who here in Maryland watched NASCAR for the first time in years to watch, same for when Raikkonen, Button, Kobayashi and SVG raced from an international aspect. If you’re constantly trying to puff your chest on who’s the biggest fish in the pond, eventually you’ll start to to stop growing and alienate yourself. Everyone talks about NASCAR having a Star problem but you know what helps that Star problem? Putting your Star in front of a new audience in one of the biggest races of the year ( acting as an ambassador for the sport). It’s a “ you scratch my back and we scratch your back” situation. If we were willing to fill a spot at LeMan for a F1 champion, a LeMan winner and a 7 time NASCAR cup champion than we got to understand we need ambassadors of the sport to put the sport in front of new audiences. Have Ross Chastain run a one off Supercar race, Ryan Blaney to do a BTCC race in the UK or Bell race a Super formula race in Japan.

What most people are missing with the waiver debate is every waiver has been given to drivers who missed a race outside of their own choice for injuries, suspensions, etc. Larson missed a race by choice despite spending 2 weeks saying Nascar is the priority and there was no way he'd miss the 600 in the end Larson and Hendrick had every opportunity to make the 600 and chose to stay in Indy. I believe Nascar is making Larson sweat but will ultimately give in and award the waiver.

One thing I’m wondering about Blaney running out is if the line he was running caused him to burn more fuel. My issue with this whole waiver thing is it would have been on Rick Hendrick or Jeff Gordon. Any driver is going to say, yes I want to race the Indy 500. But it's up to the Rick and Jeff to make the decision and if NASCAR decided not to grant it then it would 100% be on Rick and Jeff. NASCAR granted the waiver so it's a moot point.

In opinion they would have an opportunity to put the raves that infected by weather crisis on the current date to change into the next day/night or wait until later in the season because most fans would like to see dry seasons than weather problems in the spring winter fall even summer because dry droughts are better having rain chances so the races at the tracks that are in to get the races done before weather channel crisis screw up another race. And tell NASCAR to stop the pit stop bullcrap and do half time stops so no fuel crisis that caused team 12 a victory and congratulations to team 2 on there first win in 2 years to have Penske win in Indycar and NASCAR this season.😮😮😮😮😮😮😊😊😊😊😊😊😊

To answer the question in the beginning of this episode. Yes let's hope so. Blow off one of our top three races one of our crown jewels you don't deserve a playoff waiver. Choose a rival series arrival race over ours you most certainly do not deserve a playoff wave. Him and Mr h could have easily got on their plane and made it to Charlotte for the start of the race. They had a backup driver for the Indy car the same as they did for the five car. They chose to basically say f*** you NASCAR we're racing over here. Kyle Larson most certainly does not deserve a playoff waivers here and I and I hope NASCAR does the right thing and doesn't give him one. And all the talk about Elliott got one and he was suspended for a race yeah he got suspended in a NASCAR race in a Nascar event. He didn't go to Indy car and cause an accident to get suspended in NASCAR because he was saying hey a NASCAR f you. Your race isn't big enough for me so I'm going to so I'm going to race over here tonight like Larson did. Elliot also already had his waiver granted to him. Remember he was injured and he got a waiver for the injury. After he came back from the injury he got pissy with Denny and spun him out and got suspended a race he already had a waiver. So the whole Elliot getting suspended getting waiver doesn't count because he had his waiver already for being injured.

Nascar is not Larson's boss. Rick Hendrick signs his checks. He has a contract with Hendrick Motorsports, not Nascar. Larson did what Rick and Jeff decided, they are his boss.

There old pilots and bold pilots but no old bold pilots. A Pilot is just a better driver in the clouds. any one can get into the air but the landing is a well controlled Crash.

Brett is wrong, Larson's boss is not NASCAR, Larson's boss is Rick Hendrick. Larson gets fired from Hendrick he doesn't get a pity car from NASCAR. So when Rick Hendrick says you are staying, you're staying.

As far as the waiver goes…NASCAR should follow their rule book, or get rid of it. But really this is all a publicity stunt.

Regarding the waiver, count on NASCAR to do whatever they think will bring them the most money. They are some greedy bastards.
