@@mitchumrobert8732 Sadly no they weren't. They just grabbed a bunch of my records at random to sell. I actually tracked down the store where they were sold but that single was already gone. At least the person who bought it was a fan.
Totally agree Will Oldham has "something"...talent doesn't even begin to describe it. Love EVERYTHING he has put out. Palace. Palace Music. Palace Brothers..etc.
Thanks for the Will Oldham, I have more music by him than by any other artist, I keep discovering more as time goes by too. Seen him live 5-6 times at least. We need fb page for his music and others of his ilk. Molina I have tried and didn't get on with. Hurley is new to me, so will check him out. Send me a friend request if music is something to banter about more with me. Regards Peter
Peter Bond wow, I'm so jealous that you got to see will live! must be incredible. since I don't live in the US, I don't often have the opportunity to see these wonderful american folk artists. sharon van etten is coming to brazil this year though, I'll see if I can catch that.
Absolute genius. There's no recorded version of this I know of but I have seen the Palace Brothers cover I will always love you by Dolly Parton. Talk about a heart punch.
Palace Brothers I will always love you cover? I can only find a cover by two brothers named Brother Brothers... I think youre mistaken! Although I wish you werent!
There is a recorded version of this on vinyl. I bought my copy at Wuxtry Records in Atlanta (Decatur) about fifteen years ago. Stupidly traded it for a pristine Vivadixiesubmarinetransmissionplot, which is one of my favorite albums I own on vinyl, but I’d rather have this back.
"Put some hair around it, I'll find it." Dang, if I had a dollar for every time someone at the phosphate mines told me that. I sure do miss those guys.
I love this! Ok well who knows if it is "best song ever" but I think it is pretty great. I guess Oldham detractors may have a point when they say his voice is warbly and some of his albums too monochromatic (glacially paced, depressing etc.) and his lyrics pretentious, but I just put a bunch of his cd's (both Palace Bros. and Bonnie Prince Billy on random and was struck once again with his creative, musical and lyrical brilliance! This song I'd not heard- it's fantastic!
i just received 7" of this. found it years ago on napster but could not find any other hard copies. such a beautiful song - almost hard to believe it is from david allan coe...
DAC performed some of the most beautiful country songs since Hank Williams, you should check out the list of Top 50 songs his son drew up a few years ago.
I don't ever want to hear the best song ever, because then nothing after it would ever compare. I just want my songs to keep getting better and better. :)
@jamsoftheweek Wow, wish I had a hard copy of this song....really great! I dont think I have ever even heard of this track till just finding it here on YT recently. (actually I take that back...I do kind of remember hearing that Oldham was going to record a Coe song or two a while back, but never heard much more about it)
Perhaps you should look at the context around those words. Doing so you will find that there is an actual discussion going on. Just read the comments below INCLUDING those words not ISOLATING them.
