It's kind of infuriating that they set that whole thing up to catch someone and then she got away with it anyway. It doesn't matter that there was nothing in it; it's the principle of the matter and the fact that she's going to do it to someone else. At least New York got to see her face

An elderly friend of mine had her purse stolen while grocery shopping. It's a real hardship for somebody that lives on a pension. It's disgusting, I hope they get a taste of their own medicine.

They should've put in the wallet a card that says "search the latest update on inside edition, you may or may not be there"

Thieves put so much effort into stealing but they can't put the same effort into finding a job and working.

Found a clutch wallet on the side of the road last month. I drove back, parked, walked over and picked it up. It had cash, cards, license l, receipts, etc. I found and contacted the woman using FB messenger. She had just left town but asked me to drive it to her friends 15 min away. She said she left it on the wheel well of her horse trailer when she was pumping gas. I got to the friends house and the lady pulled $200 from the wallet and gave it to me. I would’ve done it for nothing. 0:00 The whole time I was praying they weren’t going to accuse me of stealing something. “hey there was more money in here”. It’s like a personal crusade of mine to show people there’s still good people in the world.

I was in a crowd watching an easter parade when I reached into my purse for something only to find someone had sliced it open with a knife and stolen my wallet. I was quite shaken up, stealing is one thing but carrying around a knife sharp enough to do that without me feeling it is a whole other level of scary.

Its also crazy how many times I have seen people just leave their laptop and bags at tables at coffee shop and they go up and order there coffee. It takes only seconds before someone comes and steal their stuff.

Always be aware of your surroundings. A guy reached over me on the bus pretending to call to his friend on the street and in that time took my phone from my bag. I only caught him because he tried hiding it between his legs but my phone had a colorful case so it stood out.

This happened to me while leaving a very crowded Fourth of July firework celebration. I was carrying my young daughter and had my phone in my back pocket and someone took it. I felt so violated and stupid for not paying attention. Cops did nothing. I hope they prosecute her to the full extent.

Her face is now forever on the internet.

By not punishing these “petty” crimes is the key factor to an ever-growing crime rate. It’s sending out an open invitation to more criminals. It’s almost a big “welcome” sign.

My grandad had his wallet pickpocketed in New York a few years ago and lost $500 in cash and his credit cards. Sadly they weren’t caught but my grandad is much more cautious about carrying a lot of cash in public.

She obviously opened the wallet, saw there was no money inside and only a tracker and immediately ditched it.

I’d rather this than prostitution stings. There’s actually victims with this crime. Criminals have no shame.

They should sew a hidden compartment for the air tag and seal it inside of the wallet so that it can't be seen or removed. Just dropping it inside makes it too easy for the thieves to stick their hand inside and see it there.

If y’all catch her with the wallet, I think having your face plastered all over the news is the worst punishment anyone could get

I'm about to go ahead and get a fake phone form the dollar store for them to pickpocket and as for a wallet I would get a fake money ad that disappoints everyone and then write "You though you did something didn't ya" lol ( Edit. everything is from the dollar store apart from the ad)

When I travel, I carry a "fake" wallet, with about $500 in Monopoly "money", a few "cardboard credit cards", along with a "Get Out of Jail Free" card! 🤣 Help yourself! 🤗

It's a shame some folks still result to stealing from innocent people like that. When it comes to needing money just ask if you interact with me. If the money's going towards something I can agree with of course. I work hard for my money which ain't alot at the moment, but that doesn't stop me from making generous donations, and those mostly go to those who I know who have made me happy.

Every big city has pickpockets. If you're a tourist in NYC, don't keep all of your money in the same spot, wear a moneybelt, keep your valuables under your clothes or in your front pockets, and be aware of your surroundings. Big cities aren't for the weak. Also, that Inside Edition producer was BEGGING to be robbed 🤣

This is WHY I keep everything in my front pockets, wallet, cell phone, keys, etc. Sometimes I would carry a "fake wallet" in my back pocket when I go to high risk areas... i.e., shopping, gas stations, dates, etc. The wallet has fake credit cards and fake counterfeit money. I'd have it in my back pocket just for the pickpocketers, and in case I get robbed.

Not just an air tag, but an exploding air bag with dye, like banks have for robbers. They would've found her a lot faster.

You'd be surprised at how many people walk around with phones in back pockets, purses wide open, etc. Be careful out there!

I found a wallet at a store that had $5000 cash in it, we were going to give it in to the info desk, then a woman came up to us and asked if we found a wallet that was the exact details to the one we found, she was so grateful

That’s sound advice at 1:56, keep your wallet in your front pocket instead of your back. I’ve been doing that for YEARS and people rib me for it. I just don’t get why more people do not do this.

That is why I always have a purse with a long strap. I put the strap over my head so that the strap is across my chest and that helps me keep my purse in front of me at all times.

This happened to me on a vacation in NYC. Some guy bumped into me "accidentally" and said "my bad" and put his arm around me to stop his fall and took my wallet. Luckily this happened to ANOTHER friend of mine so just in case, I checked my pocket and it was gone. I was with my brother and we both caught him.

I would like to see someone try to pickpocket me. I would feel all my belongings in my pockets and I hardly let my guard down. So If I feel their hands, I'm breaking their arms and turning them in for rewards.

I rather the thief take my wallet with my ID only inside. Its less a hassle to deal with later than my credit cards. An i always keep my wallet or phone in my front pockets i could never stand it being in my back pockets or sitting down on my wallet its uncomfortable lol

Ugh...brings back nasty memories from last year when I had my own purse stolen... All of my IDs were in there, too. The worse part? THE COPS DID ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.

What’s the point of the AirTag? Anyone who steals a wallet will open the wallet to take the cash first thing. Since there was nothing there, she probably threw the AirTag or even the wallet away asap. Why didn’t inside edition have police follow her instead? Makes more sense than an AirTag lol😅

my sister lost her iphone a week ago. that day, like probably any other work day, she climbed out of her car that her husband was driving on the other side of the street opposite to the side where her workplace is located. then she walked across the street to her company. she arrived in the office and immediately found out her phone was gone. she was just using it in the car. she went and searched for her phone in this short distance, but unfortunately it was already lost. she suspected she dropped it when she tried to put her phone back to her pocket on the way. but i suspect some pickpocket stole it. i am suffering from psychologically pain vicariously through her lmao

Imagine the news crew decided to make a police report and the cop said it's just a trivial matter, or even blaming the victim that it's their fault for not being "aware". You know what, that's a good content for news idea. Being undercover as a victim to make a police report and see how the law enforcer action and reacting to it.
