I added a turbo blanket to my 2018 Fiat 124 Lusso with a 1.4 litre turbo engine to reduce temperatures under the hood to prevent damage to a lot of the hoses and plastic/rubber components nearby the turbo. On the Spider the turbo blanket does not go anywhere near around the complete turbo more like 2/3 or slightly less around so this works better than the stock metal heat shield but is essentially a heat shield itself. It really does accomplish heat reduction under the hood. I haven’t observed any deterioration of anything on the turbo itself or anywhere else. I wasn’t expecting any vehicle performance change and there wasn’t any change. The turbo blanket does prevent heat buildup and hence extends the useable life of under hood components. My experience with this vehicle anyway.

10th gen civic owners! $30 turbo blanket and $24 air inlet blanket on Amazon . Been running good for 2 years now not one problem with the engine or blankets,I was very skeptical about it but I can’t deny the results I’m getting money well spent in my opinion a measly $54 best buck bangers around

LoL How thick do you think that ceramic coating has to be in order to block heat transfer? I got it done on a header for my Prelude, and if theres a 10c difference I think I'd be lucky. A wrap or blanket is your best bet if you're really trying to manage under hood heat.

Lots of speculation and no testing. Why not just test it?

Because, feelings.

How do you guys feel about things like integrated "inconel" heat shielding on turbo manifolds and down-pipes, by comparison, to turbo blankets?

A few of our products utilize an OE style heatshielding that works very well at keeping the heat contained in the downpipe. I.E.: store.034motorsport.com/cast-stainless-steel-racing-catalyst-b9-audi-s4-s5.html

Why don't you guys just test this Theory ? Its seems like you really don't know.

We have been upgrading and modifying turbo cars for the past 20 years, and while we have not tested on B9, turbo blankets and turbo technology are nothing new. We feel that turbo blankets are generally unnecessary.

I’d love it if there were reasonable hood options with vents to help get the heat out/bring cool air in. I think the design of the B9 engine, while great, having that turbo up above an engine already getting hot really increases the overall temperature under the stock hood.

Adding hood vents to a car that was aerodynamically designed without them is tough. There are certain pressure zones that you shouldn't mess with when adding vents to a hood. Improperly placed vents can decrease aerodynamic efficiency and cause an engine bay to not vent properly.

This is nonsense. If you use inferior metals yes absolutely. But decent stainless won't rust I had mines wrapped drove it in rain you name it after 2 years pipes looked fine. Just don't wrap to thick
