Welcome to the world of Rammstein. The lead singer Till Lindemann is a licensed pyrotechnic and he designs basically all of the fireworks during their shows. That red stuff on the bandmembers kinda looks like blood but is really a special oil to help them protect from the heat of all the fire. Their first commercial hit was Feuer Frei for the movie xXx with Vin Diesel. (and they only got bigger since)
For other Rammstein songs I would recommend subtitles because they have often very poetic and deep lyrics. Live shows are crazy with fireworks - Du Hast is beginners stuff 😉 For crazier fireworks try Wollt Ihr das Bett in Flammen sehen, Ich tu Dir weh, Rammstein (in older live versions Till sets himself on fire and sings whole song engulfed in flames which is on topic because it is about a terrible airplanecrash)...
As in many of their songs, they're playing with words here as "Du hast" (You have) sounds like "Du hasst" (You hate), only the full sentence "Du hast mich gefragt..." (You have asked me...) reveals the actual meaning. Based on your history with metal and it's subgenres, I'd like to suggest for you to check out another German band (majority of their songs is in English): Electric Callboy. Founded in 2010 (as Eskimo Callboy) Attack Attack! were their declared role model, they've evolved into something quite unique since. We Got The Moves is one of their most popular songs. There are some great official live videos for this on their channel, preferably the 'LIVE 2022' or the 'LIVE in Denver, CO'. They are wearing the costumes from the original video on stage for this song.

The song is about . A girl/woman asking her spouse to marry her but the spouse refused ( implied at the very last moment in front of the altar at the wedding ceremony) Lyrics literally translated You (= "Du") You have (= "Du hast") You have me = ("Du hast mich") (those 3 lines got repeated) You have me asked ( repeated 3 times = German word order for "You have asked me" = "Du hast mich gefragt") And I have said nothing (= "Und ich hab nichts gesagt" - context meaning "I didn´t reply") Chorus: Do you want to be loyal to her for all days till death do you both apart? - NO! Do you want to love her for all days till death do you both apart? - NO! The chorus is the traditional wedding vow at a church wedding asked by the priest before he declares the couple to be married... unless one of the couple says "No" then the wedding is busted. So it appears the girl asked her spouse to marry her but he didn´t reply to that question..so she dragged him in front of the altar anyway and there he busted the wedding. But there is a "trickery/phonetical wordplay" in place of the vers "You have me"= "Du hast mich" = it sounds phonetically equal as like as saying "You hate me" = "Du hasst mich" so the vers got - phonetically - a double meaning in direct context to the chorus. Because until that broken down into single words sentence is complete the meaning of "You have asked me" isn´t revealed and anyone thinks it´s about "hating/she hates him" which is also plausible in the aftermath when a girl got abanded in front of the altar during a wedding in front of all the guests. That "phonetic trickery" is kinda like as I would say in English My My deer My deer has My deer has big (until now you very likely would think I said "My dear" instead of "My deer", right? And you would expect to finish the sentence with - I don´t know - "big boobs" or "big teeth" or something along those lines, right? ;-D) My deer has big antlers ..(Now finally with the last word the meaning of the sentence and of "deer" is revealed and the same is happening with adding to "Du hast mich" and the last word "gefragt/asked")

Parts of the pyro in this video are CG, like the lightnings on the keyboarder. Rammstein (more like rum-shdoyn - the "a" is pronounced like the "o" in "come", the "s" like "sh" in "should" and "ei" like the "i" in "like") does a lot of wordplay, that of course only work in the language they are done in. Like here the meaning of the sentence changes as it get's completed: "du" -> "you" "du has(s)t" -> "you are a hater" ("you hate") "du has(s)t mich" -> "you are hating me" "du hast mich gefragt" -> "you have asked me" "und ich hab nichts gesagt" -> "and I did not answer" "gefragt" and "gesagt" rhyme very well. The song is about the "forever-question" on his wedding where he hesitates to answer. "bis der Tod euch scheidet" ("until death divorces you") and "bis zum Tod der Scheide" ("until the vagina is dead") sound very similar, and this is what seemed to go through his head. The answer he gave then was "nein" ("no"), but you can't tell if he really spoke it out.
The bands name is pronounced Ramm and stein as in like Einstein. I love seeing new people discover them. They are incredible and they never disappoint. This is pretty much a live Rammstein concert. I really hope I can go to one of their concerts before they call it a day. I didn't go to my first concert til I was 28 unfortunately but I've got 2 gigs sorted out thats bands that me n my mum both like. Oh, this isn't Rammstein's heaviest song. Not by a long shot. You also should check out Sonne and Feuer Frei. Watch the live for both, so you can see more fire. Also Uprising live in Warsaw by Sabaton. The treadmill is the best option for him, because he cannot stay still and HAS tripped his bandmates before. If you look up the lyrics of this song, they are play-on words. If you go to a Rammstein concert, the first four rows are listed as Hot Seats. You can definitely see why.

Yeah, Germand band and as I am german, I do know the band fore sure! Bought my first Rammstein-CD back in 1995 - so almost 30 years ago (which includes: I am getting old ^^+gg). Talking about german bands, "Steins" and metal, ... "Helloween" is a Power-Metal band, formed 1984 (!) in Hamburg - Germany. They are still arround and are one of the most successfull metal bands in Germany. They are performing in english-language, though. If you never heard of "Helloween", maybe you wanna check out "Dr. Stein" (< see, there is a "stein" again). It's more a fun song - i mean, no dark lyrics or messages! Just a story about "Dr. Stein", who grows funnny creatues! :)
Yea. I like Rammstein at last the top songs/performances I listened and liked :). I would characterize their music: great guitar riffs (combined with electronic music), great pyrotechnic shows (fun factor), and very deep voice of singer:). Ps. Another funny thing is that I discovered Aurora music (which I love what you could noticed) something between Rammstein, Florence and the Hu ;). It means very different music ;).

If you are into Hardcore and want an easier intro into metal. You should check out Electric Callboy. Especially their song "We got the moves". It is in my opinion their greatest Hit. They used to go by a different name and did more metalcore stuff. The new Style is much more interesting tho. Nice to see you getting into Metal, have a fun journey!

This is a German band in Paris, with the crowd singing in German. Considering what went on there during the 2nd world war, that is amazing in itself! I’m a 63yr old Aussie mum who got into this band when my son was a teenager and played them at home. I have them so loud in the car that it rattles the windows. They are brilliant!! What an amazing rabbit hole you can now go down!
Dude, you really, really need to listen to Nightwish. It's a symphonic metal band from Finland with a Dutch singer called Floor Jansen (read it as Yan-sen). Start with Ghost Love Score live in Wacken. It will blow your soul away. It's only the most reacted song in YT with more than 30 million reactions. Have fun.

Some of my favorites are: - Knorkator (mostly German lyrics, so maybe not that interesting for you, but they are just as awesome as they are funny); look for their recently published MA‘ BAKER cover (live) - We Butter The Bread With Butter (deathcore with lots of humor; very special but definitely worth checking out [even though it‘s also mostly German lyrics]); try „Dreh Auf!“ and „20 KM/H“ to get an idea - Electric Callboy (mostly English lyrics, Trancecore/Partycore and the hottest German metal act right now - I fell in love with them 11 years ago, and you might too); start with „Hypa Hypa“ for fun crazyness and don‘t leave out „Parasite“ (which is just perfect) for their more serious side. Basically, everything they put out is worth checking out (also the older stuff such as „Muffin Purper-Gurk“, „We Are The Mess“ & „Crystals“). Enjoy! 😊

To be fair this is "industrial metal" which don't get me wrong I love NIN but NIN this is not.... But I'd call this EDM or European Dance Metal before I'd ever call it industrial... It's pretty sweet song... The Prodigy is kinda the same realm just a little softer... Still European Dance Metal..... Still a great song... one of the first guitar riffs I ever learned...
there is no "one meaning", so look at the lyrics, they are artists, with room for interpretation and your own thoughts, so always look at the lyrics with Rammstein, there is more than just music
