Mr. Will Sampson is from the Creek Nation located in Okmulgee,OK.His body is at rest in a grave yard there. His grave has what is called a "Grave House"over the lenght and width of it. Mr.Sampson is one of the reasons for my belief in "The GREAT SPIRIT".Thank you for this video.
There are no words to ever say how much I was blessed to have known Sonny! His kindness, his humor, his passion, and his LOVE forever transformed my life in countless ways that are still evident to this day. I will always be profoundly grateful for everything he gave me, and so very delighted that his bright, beautiful spirit continues to strengthen, comfort, and guide me. He is still lighting up my way! I will love him, miss him, and celebrate him for the rest of my days!!! "Until heaven, sweet Sonny" 🦋💞💕💓💔
Will Samson was a great actor in life, and talented man, but he will be always remembered to Us native people for holding the Screen Actors Guild, Hollywood to use native people in movies for parts depicting roles of Native American People. Chi Mii Gwetch Will 'Ten Bears'
That is very true! The agency Will founded, The Native American Registry For the Performing Arts, is still in operation. A woman who works there contacted me a few months ago to assure me it is still going strong. Will was a beautiful, generous, giving soul that always tried to help others any way he could. He was a blessing to everyone who knew him!.
Hello Niyaha: My uncle, who was Lumbee was in a film with your Uncle Will--a PBS production of Roanoak--He loved performing with your Uncle.. but we cannot find any copy of the film: would you be able to locate a copy of Roanoak? ...If you see this please reply... Thank you very much!
Have to say ..... great representative of all ndn people .... no matter what tribe..... great actor .... great artist ... but most of all ...just a regular man that was ndn....... humble to the end..... what a man...

Will was so beautiful inside and out ♥️ wished he was still with us. Beautiful artist and talented actor. Thank you for sharing this beautiful video and God Bless 🙏🏽
Beautiful man. A great actor. Thanks for the video. It’s a great honor for him and his family. We are all human beings and we need to learn to live in love and in peace.
I am taking this time to say his movie. He moved my heart He seemed like a very kind person. I happy we got to see how good of a actor he was. Peace and love to all his love one.
Most beautiful and honourable of men in the entire world. Handsome and full of gentle-giant grace. His knowing of this world and the next so very clear in his soul-seeking eyes that could have easily ovvertaken the most fastest cars on Route 66.
I remember as a little kid being so impressed with the "Outlaw Josey Wales" and one of the best scenes involved this legendary man.It was when he leapt upon his pony and rode out to meet the 'Crazy' white man who just rode into camp, with his body painted blue and looking very fierce.I thought to myself "Wow,that's a real Chief,a real leader". He had a presence even for the short time he was onscreen.I had no idea if he was really a leader among his people but it seemed right to judge him so.Powerful scene, one of which I think make that movie one of the best westerns ever made. The best one liners may have been Chief Dan George' but the best scene belonged to Will Sampson.I am saddened by his loss so young.
Nice tribute. I was 10 when i saw Cookoos Nest. I had no idea who Will was at the time but i always remember being impressed with the Chief. His quiet intelligence and inner strength as he puts one over on the Dr's It should be shown in acting schools how true "less is more"
when i see true native americans i am in awe of them you can just see true america they are awsome people i have admiration for them they did get the short end of the stick. It was awsome to watch will and clint in jose wales felt like you went back in history it was awsome RIP my freind.
RIP brother, I just watched One flew over the cuckoo's nest. I feel like the ending of that movie with you just running away is sorta like you saying bye. I wish you were alive today. See you in the next life man.
If you want to see him play the heroic lead part, find the made for tv movie "Relentless", STARRING Will Sampson as Navaho policeman Sam Watchman... it's a real sleeper; filmed around Flagstaff... everyone who sees it remembers it,a satisfying story...
Oh i love this man, a wonderful versatile actor & with a proud dignified baring. I watched him in so many films & for me, he has the qualities of what a Native American king would have. Whether a youthful Will or a much older Will hes got that something that cant be put into words...well English words but im betting the Native American language has a definition of what that ' something ' is. Rest with your great ancestors in the sky prairies, Will Sampson Thank you for this video, i enjoyed it so much Blessed Be Greetings fr 🇬🇧
@@ginfrench3350 I thank you, very much, for taking the time to inform me of this new tribute to the wonderful Will Sampson. I will certainly watch it tomorrow when i have a day to relax in. I ADORE watching the film montages of Native American actors, these men are beautiful young or old, my fave is Rick Mora, he was exquisite as a young man & still now hes older hes still a gorgeous man & ive followed his well travelled journeys to various countries bringing awareness to the youth of today of the value of their culture. His tour of New Zealand with an Elder of his tribe was really good Im probably like many non Americans who feel a kinship with 1st Nations People. Im always appalled the way they are treated by white americans I recently watched a film called War Party ( i think thats the title) & was horrified at the disrespect & hostility the whites showed to the Native Americans & the result of what racism can degenerate into. Anyway enuff! My only consolation was being told by a Spiritual Medium, was that id lived before as Lakota Sioux in the 1800s & my name had been Singing Basket!! & id married a man called Yellow Wolf, both names id never heard of plus i was a vision maiden & told of things to come & i would return but not for many life times into my tribal lands but into other cultures all over the world. Lol! Well im English in this life & mostly ashamed of the white mans ( esp English men) treatment of ANY indiginous people or cultures he came across in the past & present which he destroyed, corrupted & treated with contempt. Anyway ENUFF again Thank you for the info on Will, Blessed Be & strength & love to you 🕊🐏🐬🐝🌳🙋♀️🇬🇧
I am. 65 years old, I watched one then two Movie last night. Throughout the movie Will, he implying the human beings awareness spirit teaching. Proud to see legacy.
If you are a fan of Will Sampson you might be interested to know that there's a new video on youtube in memory of him that contains rare childhood photos as well as a variety of pictures that I hope will honor him. Just Google Remembering Will Sonny Sampson Jr. if you'd like to check it out. I hope people will think it does him justice.
He reminds me of my Uncle Jeff. His stoic mannerism. The look in his eyes that seemed to tell you he saw something you couldn't. Unk was dark. He was the first one I ever heard use the term, Copper Red. I'm lite.I always hated that. Especially when I was a kid. I showed up at his home one day all dirty. He asked where I'd been. Down the road I said. A boy said I a'nt no Indian cos I'm too white. All he said was... And? Said I showed him. Knocked the hell outta him. He said. You think you showed him. When I was a boy I had to show them I was human. I ask. How's that? By not knocking the hell outta the one who had just spit in my face. My grandfather reminded me of that a few years later. Two of the wisest men I ever knew. I learned a lot from them.Enough to let me know I'll never know as much as they did.
@TheSparkle7 The White Buffalo. That's the one where the guys says: "No injun is gonna tell me what to do" and Will Sampson's character says: "One JUST DID!"..........LOL. Orca and The Outlaw Josey Wales among other's.
If Will Sampson were alive, I wish I could give him a great big hug. I feel like Native Americans are a beautiful and unique people. I really treasure them, especially after learning of the countless massacres and practically genocide that settlers in America have committed. They truly amaze me.

Will Sampson was in over 15 other films after Cuckoo's Nest, on the big screen and made for TV movies. He was also a regular on the 70's show Vegas with Robert Urich. He also narrated the PBS series Images Of Indians. Just Google Will Sampson movies to get a list of his Films. His acting was flawless in every one of them.

"Iron Eyes Cody" was a real American Indian, and I think he acted in some older movies. Jay Silverheels and he worked together at times. Mr. Silverheels was also known as "Tonto" in The Lone Ranger.
