I was always thankful that the studio chatter was added in between the songs. This has to be the perfect record. The perfect jam session! Flawless. Real. Americana.
One of the greatest recordings of all time. It's historic in every sense. I remember when it first came out, bought it, loved it, played it a million times, and still love it to this very day.
Absolutely. It's more than just an album, it's listening to an experience and a collaboration of talent so amazing, I think some astrological events must have been in work. I wasn't born when the album was released, but I learned of it in my 30's and immediately fell in love with it, and I've introduced it to people much younger than myself who also loved it. It's just an amazing piece of American artwork that should be easy for any true music fan to enjoy.
I think this alblum is in the top 10 of all time! It sure had an effect on so many of us rock and roll kids and turned us on to really good country music, not that fake shit on the radio!
A friend from work let me borrow this record about 25 years ago, and I didn't give it back for a long, long time. It wasn't an album for me -- it was a door that opened up to a path that I'm still on today.
Will the Circle Be Unbroken was nothing short of a breakthrough album - NGDB returned to the roots of American music and took us all with them. They set a movement in motion that still resonates today. What a fabulous time in music that was - art, culture and history combined in sound.
Love hearing Mother Maybelle say “nitty gritty dirt boys” with her mountain twang. Reminds me of hearing her playing in a tent at a festival in Cosby Tenn back around 1970.
Indeed one of the greatest albums of all time and one of the most important. NGDB way underrated and far too forgot, for this project but also for their entire body of work. Uncle Tupelo gets credit for kicking off the “Americana” music but NGDB we’re doing it back in the very early 70s, maybe late 60s.
I moved from South Florida to the Smoky mountains around Cashiers and Highlands when I just turned 18. The Circle came out that summer, and greatly influenced my musical taste. Wonderful album.
Loved this album since I was a teen. How cool how it was put together. Read John McEuen's book to learn the story behind it. Called the "Life I've Picked"
Vince Gill nailed it; the reason I listen to music on You Tube is that I watch Live music in it's really form. I hate listening to studio engineered music.
There’s lots of overprocessed albums, there’s still a bunch of people doing raw cuts off the floor in a studio, more natural, and I like those sorts of albums. My studio is all-tape, I do it that way because I also want to hear real music, as this album was put together. My recording ‘style’ is very similar to how Circle 1 and 2 were done. Mostly live takes, very limited overdubs, and very little if any editing.
I just came across this on you tube driving from Melbourne to Sydney, Australia and now i can’t enough of this music. Why didn’t I know about this back in Australia ? Why were we denied this great music ?
This is a wonderful get together that will never happen again. I love it and glad You Tube makes it possible. Thank you You Tube. ❤✌ From a proud Canadian. 🇨🇦
I'm 44. I first heard this album when I was 14. I've owned it on LP, cassette, CD, and I ripped my CD to mp3. It's still in my playlist on my iPod to this day.
Music from the cream of the crop. The best music you might never hear is jammed by pickers after performances for themselves (jams). I was a pro picker with them at one time. Wonderful times.
Amazing album! such a shame Sara Carter who sang the original most popular version of the song back in the 1930s was not part of this for unknow reasons but Maybelle Carter was :)
Haven’t owned a turntable in at least 25 years. All of my albums are stashed in fruit crates at the bottom of my closet.......except one. I never put it away.
I think I once read that Bill MOnroe refused to be part of the project because he wouldn't play along side a bunch of long hairs...not sure if this is true
