Will These Men Make It Into The British Army? • GURKHA SELECTION | Forces TV 

I served in the British Army (Royal Military Police) and was posted to Catterick 150 Provost Company. I have never known such a group of outstanding soldiers, both off and on garrison. I don't recall a single incident of misbehaviour, but do remember them always being pristine in their uniform, even when out in Darlington. Major respect.

They are very respected and unlike a lot of other people around they are very respectfull ' very honourable people ' a rare thing unfortunately.

I was a Royal Marine in the 1960's. One of the few colour photographs I have of that period is of me posing alongside a Ghurka soldier, on exercise in Malaya.. I still have the photograph. Good luck to all you potential Ghurka recruits.

So much stress on such young minds. I understand the reason though, God bless the ones who don't make it and look after the ones who do.

I also tried 3 years to join The British Army. I failed in PI but i am happy that 3 years of my life helped me to become physically and mentally strong 👍👍

I think the Gurkhas should be allowed to join the Canadian Army as we fall under service to Queen Elizabeth! It would be a wonderful addition to our military. I have binge watched video on their training. Very respectful group of young men. I am in the Forces (31 years now). I love seeing such dedication.

I was one of the last British families to live in Dhahran on the camp before it was handed back to the Nepalese government. Great to see it’s still in use for recruitment. I remember the eager young recruits turning up desperate for a place.

Great people from Nepal,and always loyal soldiers to the UK.Full respect and my best wishes to them all.It was scandalous their pensions were threatened years ago.

About fourteen years ago when I was in Pokhara, Nepal I was proud to have met and spoken with applicants to become soldiers in the British Army. Also in Khathmandu, I met retired Ghurkha soldiers. Britain is extremely fortunate to have such a fine body of men in their service, they merit the highest distinction and respect.

I use to look after some elderly fellas who were in the war and they all had nothing but respect for the Gurkha soldiers. If you mentioned them they would say they were brilliant men, terrific😊

The Gurkha's are a credit to their nation and ours. We are incredibly fortunate to have them in the British Army and I think it's a real shame we don't accept more. Our army could only benefit from having more of these brave, strong and polite young men.

Finally some fairness on recruiting these young lads. I personally know some honkers that are still serving gurkhas regiment who are either the relatives of the PR or who paid some good dose of money. THANK YOU for this new rules. I hope from now on only the best who really deserve to be GURKHAS( bravest of the brave) will join this regiment. Much respect for the GURKHA REGIMENT.

I encountered some Gurkhas once when I was in Delhi. They look like a bunch of kids but they are really tough. The Argies found this out during the Falklands War as did the Communists in Burma and the Japanese in Asia.

When I was 15 , i wanted to join British Gurkha , but not all dreams comes true . Now m 30 and recently joined intermediate fasting in Facebook and jobless as well .

Much respect and love to Nepalis and their famous Gurkha soldiers from Bali, Indonesia. Indonesian armed forces and the Gurkhas met in the field of battle several times especially during the Indonesian revolutionary war and Malaysian Confrontation in the 60's. sad the Gurkhas and Indonesian armed forces were on opposing side at that time. however let's past be past, in the future I hope both armies could train together on a regular basis and be even more professional in tackling modern challenges.

huge respect to these young men. I hope we are/have been treating them fairly i.e. not underpaying them or using them as cannon fodder. I'm surprised we've set the pass rate at only 3% -- surely we ought to have recruited more of them before appealing to UK snowflakes and binge gamers lol

It's a lot of work and effort for only 300 soldiers. The gurkha regiment has 3500 soldiers in total.

No wonder the ghurkas are such good mates with the aussies, very proffesional recruitment process

I wish our country would recognize that we are casting away these precious gems. They would have made excellent youths in the development of Nepal in the years to come.

Being as a Nepali citizenship what i suggest to my present government is to build up a good infrastructures such as business wise or make big efforts in nepali arena so it can help our young lads not be joined in aboard army jobs unless or delayed it should be wish sooner our Nepalese brothers be happy florite in their own motherland.

Kiratis should not only focus on lahure and singing field. kiratis are multi-talented and hardworking people. the main character of kiratis are they are not corrupt. kiratis are honest by race. i hope kiratis comes into political power in nepal. i want to see kiratis as prime minister, defense minister finance minister, law minister and foreign minister. kiratis plz stop lahure tradition. this lahurism has been good for kirat people for last 200 years but now kiratis must change their career path. we need kiratis in nepali politics and government jobs. kiratis plz stay in nepal and empower nepal. i don't trust bahunbadi leaders anymore. they cannot be trusted anymore. ask any nepali people and we know what bahunadi leaders have done for nepal. we want to see the change of government in nepal. we want to see kiratis rai limbu magar gurung in nepali politics and taking up government role instead of just becoming foreign mercenary for the british army.

Ive heard stories of gurkha missions annihilating an entire batallion, keeping just few prisoners and neutralizing the rest. Happened in the falklands war

Reminds me of the Turkish Jannisary Corps....recruiting people from outside the country to serve in an elite military force loyal to your government.....

A Gurkha is a formidable opponent, look up Gurkha Bishnu Shrestha. This man was retired when this happened.

Do you know out of originally 10, 6 gurkha regiments are with Indian Army.... M proud to be associated with many 1st and 3rd Regiment Gurkhas. Jai Maha kali, Ayo Gurkhali.

i wont say that the selection process of gurkha recruiting in nepal is not free, fair ,and transparent but i would like to say that in some cases the selection is not fair because most of the capable young man are thrown out from selection due to the mistake count of PTI mostly in sit up and when they make mistake we cant even speak a single word against them so most of the capable young man aren't selected in british army from gurkha

No wonder the Gurkhas in the British Army are so special, they are essentially the top 3% of Nepali men. You take the top 3% of any country and you'll get some seriously high quality soldiers.

This is what soldier is about, the spirit of true on their application, and not like U S. Army has to bribe prospect applicants of just signing in.

UK should put more money into it, take every nepali who passes the test dont put a cap on how many

I think the british should pay and fund as many as possible, not reduce the standards but just ensure that everyone that is capable is taken on rather than leaving some out because not being enough spaces
