Will They Or Won't They?!? Villaneve - Killing Eve 

I would love for you to do a video on the differences and simlaries between hannigram and Villaneve.

I want to watch this show so badly, for me the Hannibal vibes are a plus

I want them to end up together, regardless of if they would have a healthy long lasting relationship, I think if they got together and had their time in the sun and it's left open ended, I'd be happy.

I’ve only seen the first season of Killing Eve, because I don’t have HBO or BBC or whatever channel it airs on. I rented the first season on DVD from my local library instead. I enjoyed it, and I do want to watch the rest. I think the dark sexual tension between Villaneve is really fun to watch, and especially refreshing because it’s F/F and we rarely get good genre stories like that. It’s unhealthy, but the show knows that, and we know that, and it’s just fiction so that’s fine. But I don’t know that I ship it. I haven’t been active in fandom because I’m avoiding spoilers for seasons 2 and 3, but I also don’t think Villaneve as a relationship can ever realistically go beyond will they won’t they and possibly illicit and unhealthy sexual interactions, because of the whole serial killer v international agent thing. There are very few ways it can end, most of them bad. So it isn’t very interesting to me as a basis for transformative works. I just want to watch it unfold onscreen and enjoy the ride. Maybe then, once I know the ending, I’ll be interested in finding some fic that explores the what-ifs and alternate endings. Also I’m still mad at season one for *(spoiler!)* killing all the queer characters who aren’t Villanelle or Eve, even if it does make sense for the plot. :/

It would be an interesting take to look at the progression of femmeslash from, say, Xena and Buffy to where we are now with Killing Eve or other shows like Steven Universe, and the small but there femmeslashers of DSC, even She-ra.

here comes an unnecessarily long comment from a dedicated killing eve/villaneve fan 😬 thank you so so much for talking about this show/ship, and for doing it in such an unbiased, factual manner. as a fan of both the show and the ship, i am overjoyed by this video. you always make such great ship discussion videos and i had wondered for a while if you had seen killing eve and what your thoughts would be on villaneve. hearing your discussion of them has just made me so happy and i could honestly listen to you talk about them all day! i love your way of bringing together the moments from the show itself, snippets from interviews, and the response from different types of shippers and putting them all together to create such a cohesive discussion; it would honestly be such a dream for me to be able to discuss this show with someone like you who actually does their research 😅 in terms of my killing eve fandom experience, it's mostly been a good one (save for some unsavory characters that lurk on twitter), and it honestly feels like my second family. it's crazy to see how much our little fandom has grown since the beginning of season one. i was also wondering if you've looked into the novels that the show was adapted from? the author, Luke Jennings, is actually very interactive with fans on twitter, and he has said that no matter what happens between eve and villanelle on the show, he plans on making them canon in the novels. so there's hope for those who ship the characters in the show but still worry about whether or not the writers will ever fully commit to putting them together. okay, sorry for writing a novel of my own, but i just had to let you know how grateful i am that you took your time to discuss my otp! 💖

I got crazy Hannibal vibes from the show and personally think that while they are their own things and the characters are unique there are intense overarching similarities. Just hoping they don't fall off a cliff at the end of season three 😉 Also loving the fic community for villaneve too. Awesome job!!

I love this show and need to catch up on season 2. I definately find the darkness of the pairing to be part of the draw as it feels like its getting properly fleshed out within the genre its in. It just feels like theyre protagonists, rather having to justify their place in the narrative. I love it

I was going to say this is so much like Hannibal..I mean by season 3 and now edging into season if Netflix does pick it up.this dynamic is very much seen there except wheels gotten to the eye except to you are stage so they can just go off and be murder husbands together.

the thing that detered me because the pilot promos were like this is classy when the point of it is they're trying to kill each other. but yeah, the analysis of how much of ourselves do we put into our interpretations of mysteries is definitely something interesting if not useful. so it's like yeah, this ship is valid, but they're either going to kill one or the other or else they'll partner up like mrs & mme smith?
