This was great! It reminded me of the time I bought a 1985 Mustang SSP that was burnt. You never forget the smell. We torn it down , replaced the interior, wiring, dash, trunk lid, windshield, and painted it inside and out . The pursuit package made that car run and handle great. It was the last year of a 4 bbl on a Mustang. Thanks for another great video and also bringing back memories.
I love that you show what potential is still in these cars! Anyone else would have scrapped it. We applaud you! And hugs to poor Jess who tried to give you a super cute welcoming! ❤ Thought that counts 🥰
One Pontiac that deserves to stay in the Pole Barn Fleet for sure. It can keep the Holey Goat company 😁 Must've given the firetruck driver a chuckle to see this driving past! Always look forward to and enjoy your content 👍
I'm a glass guy and it was hard to make it through the windshield installation. As long as the urethane touches, it's fine, Dalton. Also, an hour in and I'm more disappointed that you haven't used any self tappers yet.
"GTNT"? I swear to God I heard Jimi Hendrix playing the national anthem during the ride home sermon! Beautiful! Thanks for sharing everything with us. This is the FIRST channel I joined, bought the shirt and clicked the bell. I feel like I've cheaped out on you so im going to fix that.
Please bring this car back Daulton! Your the man. Most entertaining car channel on RU-vid. This was a great great great video. Thank you to you, JD and Jim! Good job fellas
This is without a doubt the best of all your videos from the time I first saw the C10 project you got in in Iowa and you replaced most of the tin ,this is a project that not many people would do besides you That's why I like your videos they are the real deal this is what most of us has ,These are the days that JD will remember for the rest of His life working with his Dad .Ten years from now you two can kick back have a beer together and laugh your ass off watching this video at how filthy JD was while working on the burned out GTO ,Your making memories treasure the times .If you ever seen the movie ,Planes ,trains ,and automobiles ,there's a scene where John Candy is driving a burned out car and gets stopped by the cops ,here's Dalton bringing that to life 😚😚
Dalton your channel is quickly becoming my favorite will it run and drive channel. You totally keep it real and take us along on some amazing journeys!
This is really a FANTASTIC video Dalton! JD what a great mechanic he's becoming, I cracked up over his socks 😂 and Jim is so awesome very funny you two make a great team!! Thanks so much for the education and laughs!!
I loved this episode in your never ending SAGGA,,, Adventure! You can get pulled over in a pretty sane and clean vehicle for tail lights or whatever? But yet you can drive a burnt out ragged old late 60's Pontiac GTO several hundred miles without a license plate, registration or proof of insurance,,,,. And not get pulled over? That is amazing! The fact that you were able to get that vehicle up and running, make needed repairs, get it home on its own power!! And look like you were having a good time for the most part doing it! This is Amazing! Yes that car must of been in pretty good shape before the explosion / Fire that burnt it up inside and out. What a epic journey that was. And what a great time had by your son as well! You could spend a great many shows dedicating to the restore of this potentially great GTO. Great show! Stay safe and make your journeys as safe as you can as well.
This got me to thinking about a new sticker or T shirt for you Dalton. You could use the style logo of Summit racing, but make it say "Summitt resurrections". Maybe have the Goat trio on there as well. I guess you could also have one like Jegs, only "Jaags" 🤣 (feel free to use my ideas lol)
I love this channel for this reason exactly. You don't let shit stop you. You prove that cars other people think are junk are actually still good and have life in them. All they need is some love and a hammer and they are back on the road. Keep it up man!
Sir, I'm pulling you over because you're missing a tail light.... "Tail light! Pffftt...you should see my other car!" Good job guys! I thought the holy Goat was bad. You definitely put a shift in on this one....... Soot !
What an epic saga getting that car on the road. I can’t believe how good the engine is! I love that you and your son get to spend time like that together, good memories. I hope you keep chipping away at that thing until it’s all the way restored. That car definitely wants to live and definitely has . Can’t wait to see the next one. Thank you guys.
This is one of the the best episodes I have ever seen from you Dalton….seeing you and JD attack what most would consider scrap and getting it running and driving is not only incredible but also inspiring!
Lets remember this is the man who took a truck so rotted out and did a full restoration and took a gto out of a junkyard and got it to run and took it around whilst avoiding cops he can do anything if he wants
This man has a plan. By the time he has about 10 of these in the back yard he's going to have enough parts for one good one. GENIUS. I fully support this kind of recycling. Stay green sir. Even when it's burnt green.
I'm amazed that you got Pos to run let alone drive 200 miles, guess that's why you do this! My hats off to you, hope that you can bring it back to it's former glory.
I have a 1970 Chevy Chevelle SS that is a family heirloom that was involved in a fire at the shop that was doing work on it. It is in similar condition. This video put a smile on my face and hope in my heart. I have the same feeling about the Chevelle, its soul wants to live and it will. True American Muscle. There is nothing like it. Thank you for this and for the inspiration. God's Speed, God Bless.
God bless you Dalton, I never believed in reincarnation until I watched what you could bring back from the dead. Love the content keep up the amazing work, without people like you to bring life into these cars and people's lives, this world would be left to rust into the ground. J.D you are an amazing lad keep up the amazing work
The AG1 offsets Dalton’s smoking habit and onset crippling anxiety from the poor vehicle choices 😂. Great vid as always. Great to see the kiddo involved.
Would love to see a restoration series on this car, seems like you really have a passion for it and I would be hyped if it got back to its former glory
1:26:06 Never, NEVER have I EVER wished more that he would have rolled down his window at that moment and shouted "Where were you guys when I needed you??" LOL!!!!
So, not a mechanic and not much of a handyman but since I discovered your channel I have purchased multiple sizes of self-tapping screws on Amazon and I have been using them all over the house Thanks to you.
Very Impressive! The soul of every vintage automobile is a combination of the craftsmanship, past/present owners but, the most important aspect is the person willing to revive the spirit, hence, rejuvenating and often transcending the original soul.
Dalton, honestly your content just keeps getting better and better. Seems like without even trying you genuinely keep improving on your genius. 300K here we go 🚀
I've always held this model as a fav. To see it like this really shows what can be saved if some one wants to do that. My recent endeavors to "restore" my Square body pickem up, and watching POLE BARN GARAGE, has shown me what can be done. I really want to see the restore process of the burn out GTO. Hope you actually make a series about it. and from what I have learned from my square body restore, I have a couple of suggestions. IF you are going to keep the GTO, you need to do some things you may not have thought of. Thats why I am here, I think about these things, well my square body has hit me in the face with most of these thoughts. Lets talk rust. The GTO is rusty from the heat of the moment. There seem no area that is not affected so if you are thinking long term, here is what you may need to do. The engine compartment, trunk, inside the passenger compartment, lets call it "EASILY ACCESSIBLE SURFACES, you can paint or spray your rust proofing paint. The outside surface should clean with sanding, use something like RUST MORT to freeze the rust then prime and paint. But where I am thinking are the inaccessible areas that if you dont treat, will be holes in short order. Lets talk the front fenders on the back side, above the wheel wells where the inner fender meets the outer fender, well the whole inner fender . Unless you take it off and paint your rust proofing paint, you need to treat it somehow. The hood is now rust coated, esp where it pinches together to make seams. the braces, ect ect. Inside the doors, the pinched seams on the sides and bottom, ESP the bottom. inside the rear fenders, over the wheel wells where the inside metal meets the fenders. Under neath, the frame, the supports, the floors, its all burnt off paint there. I'd pay particular attention where the metal brake lines run, What I did on the square body was use Mineral Oil in a squirt bottle. The rust is porus enough that after you blast the MO on the rusted metal, the MO will seep along the rust. Where there are pinches, the MO will seep into the pinched metal areas. Prob want enough on the pinched metal so it drips to be sure to get it, esp bottom of the doors, trunk and hood. On the hood, you will have to shoot through the holes in the brackets at the front and sides. you will know you are successful because you will see some of the seeping MO a few days after you applied it. (do all your painting FIRST). Same with the fenders, shoot through the access holes, put card board under the car, dripping MO is good. You have to figure a way to spray MO into the ROCKERS. And in the rear pillars. With this car you want to stave as much of that rust as you can. As for experience.. The square body had pretty badly rusted frame work, the doors showed some signs of rust, the wheel wells, and esp and most recently the Hood. I learned from a yTuber about preserving a vehicle from rust ( he does it every few years) and has no rust on his very old car. (a lincoln Continental I believe). I hit the frame and it turned dark, did a few other places, including the doors. years later it looks pretty much as it did when I applied the MO. I now have treated the hood and other areas to keep it as rust free as I can. The work I have now are areas where I did not treat and it did rust, and I am fixing that as we type. It is looking pretty good. Wanted to share my experience with the fight against rust. BTW, it helps to keep bolts and adjustment fittings from freezing up from rust as well. 5 minutes now can save hours later, LOLOL....
Not to mention , this is one of the most memerable expeiances a father /son adventurecould ever have. The challenge here is one that could never be duplicatedin a million years.Overcoming teh problems encountered herecould not be imagined and written into a script as entertaining as this. Jd is being mentored into a man that can overcome any adversity. This young man has already been taught more patience and self control than99% of men in their 70`s (including me) could manifest under these , or any circumstance ever encountered in the lifetime of any human on earth. Congratulations on a job very well done. You should be very very proud. And JD, you are a blessed young man having a dad like you have. You will go far in life, mainly because of the head start your dad has givin you. I hope you have the oportunity to do teh same for your kids. I hasve one queation. How do you guys get by driving with no plates on any vehicle I see you in? one more thing , did you check to see if there was a fuel filter or a "stone" behind the inlet of the old Q jet? It sure acted like it had a semi restricted fuel flow . I sure miss the challenges you encounter . Im 75 and cant do squat except observe and pass on my experiance to those who need it. Take care of your back and ALWAYS use jack stands. The 1,000,001 time I jacked up a truck just to take a peak underneath, it got me. luckily 8 hours in teh ER and 3-4 months of pain and healing forced me into making smarter desisions and practices. Still reminders of this mistake tell me daily, be careful and safe. Luckily my head didn`t get squished like a bug.
My favorite episode of engine masters was the air filter shootout.....every possible combo including a salad bowl/k&n air filter lid "velocity stack" setup that made power. But the most eye opening test was a stock air cleaner on a 500hp small block. It dropped almost 150hp.....lid flip gave it back almost 100. Therefore lid flip is always worth 100 hp........right? The finishing gate was hilarious
With what i have seen you take and make them look good again, I have full trust you can restore the Roasted Goat. You are very right about these cars being a true classic, made for the American dream, and you my friend are living the dream. Can't believe you did not get stopped in that beast, lol.
Every time I see you start out with something like this I think "there's no damn way this will work" ( I know sketchy when I see it. I've put together cars that most wouldn't dream of driving around in) and then you're doing burn outs with it on the 200 mile drive home! Dalton you are a true miracle worker. I LOVE it!!!
When I was 16 I bought a ‘78 Cougar. I had that same hood stand. But mine was a 2x2 that fit under the hood while I drove. Nothing like adding a quart of oil after school every Friday.
I absolutely love these videos I love that you and JD do this together my dad worked on cars in the 70’s and I was his right hand man so frikken cool I love how you work out of the old shop I still like all the other shows but when everybody gets a new big clean shop it just looses it oomph for me because I work out of an old shop I think you need a lift for sure but I hope you keep the old shop too love you guys 😊
Well you already know people are going to talk crap but I believe it is very savable and if anyone can do it.i believe you can and JD of course helping you.but hey look at the holly goat I mean you made it run and drive and people probably thought you were crazy for even messing with it but it made the trip and this goat is going to make it also.thank you for the video appreciate you taking the time to let All of us go on the journey with y'all.and just don't fall into the haters because their going to hate on you no matter what because you can make the worst of things work and save a vehicle that deserves to be saved
“I WOULD NOT BRING MY GOOD SOCKS HERE..” will be a hilarious response to a bar or place or thing that would I in fact most definitely…. Not wear my good socks to…. Favorite quote of the video.. JD oughta put that on a t shirt..
I'm always refreshing my RU-vid throughout the day on Thursday and Friday in the hopes I'll see a new PBG or JYD video, and I have yet to be disappointed when I watch it. You guys probably don't realize how much it brightens my day to watch these videos, especially when I need a distraction from life for an hour or two, which I can assure you has become more important than ever...
Can’t help but think of Planes Trains and Automobiles with this one. State Trooper : What the hell are you driving here? Del : We had a small fire last night, but we caught it in the nick of time. State Trooper : Do you have any idea how fast you were going? Del : Funny enough, I was just talking to my friend about that. Our speedometer has melted and as a result it's very hard to see with any degree of accuracy exactly how fast we were going.
watching this while enjoying my evening meal, nice video btw guys. this to show that even that burned GTO couldn't keep Dalton away from fixing it and return home safely. 👏👏👏👏
It rolls, it already better than some things you have, Ive seen what MR Goodpliers gets interested in before, of course it will make it back to the pole barn.Youve got Jim and JD wrenching.
This series made me really think of the movie plains, trains and automobiles lol I’m glad u all made it out of the wreck with the semi it could have been alot worse. I think the next step is to revive the crispy gto to its former glory. Also tell jd he’s going to be one hell of a mechanic and keep up the good work and I can’t wait for the next video to see what’s next on the crispy gto, thanks. Also I normally don’t comment but I think this was definitely one to comment on.
I avoided this episode for five days. Every time I looked at it I was like OMG what is Dalton doing now with this torched GTO? Probably best episode ever. Every guy had a task and stuck to it to get the job done. as Kevin from JYD said this is some next level shit. He wasn’t lying.
This is one of my favorite videos of yours so far! Love that car. Great job getting it back on the road. Can’t wait to see how this turns out. Thanks for all the great content
Hey Bro. Your little speech about real cars and engines at 1.29 minutes in was bang on man. Screw the computer stuff. I totally agree with you Dalton. Another awesome vid. Cheers Dudes.
This was brilliant thank you so much for sharing this epic adventure with us, I'm sure JD will be telling this story for years. Am I right in guessing the GTO with the broken frame might be used as a donor car to fix the Roasted goat?
