Maybe the most underappreciated - not underrated, (if you've ever heard him) Soul singer ever. He and Booker T. Jones wrote some absolute classics like this, "Everybody Loves a Winner", "Private Number" (duet w/Judy Clay), "I Forgot to be Your Lover", and "Born Under a Bad Sign" most famously recorded by the late, great Albert King. And just like every other Southern musician I've met, he is a total gentleman, class act, and professional.
Aw I so remember WOKJ in Jackson, Mississippi when this song along with many would come on the radio in the 60’s. William Bell so simple with great story line. The emotions and feelings are so high making it a song to remember. And don’t these singers dressed up with class making it a thing of class with beautiful lyrics LB Tuesday Dec 13, 2022
