An elderly woman, I switched the clutch out and bearing. 1hr after she picked it up, she came back on a tow truck. Burnt her clutch.. Apparently her grandson had said that she needed to "break the clutch in" by holding down the clutch slightly when driving. So she had slipping the clutch downtown for a good 40 mins. Driving in 1st gear all the time doing high rpms and all.. She didn't wanna pay for another clutch job. It ended up scrapped.

I have a W245 that I am dreading the day when I have to change the clutch. The dealer actually told me they don't know how to do it because only something like 5% of the ones imported into Canada are manual. Couple more shops quoted me over 3k. I guess as soon as it gets warm I am getting an engine bridge and doing it myself. I wish there were honest people like you around where I live. Cheers from Canada..

Cost an arm and a leg. .,, very pricey. I’ll see if I get one and will do a video of it.

Total respect bro, I am 70, and remember taking the engine and gearbox out of my old Cortina mk 1 back in 1965 with the help of my Dad. Watching you brought back a lot of memories. By the way who spotted the Heron on the roof?

When I started in the trade, the main workshop didn't have many ramps. All the clutches and gearbox or torque converter removals were done on the floor. Stood me in good stead for when I went as a mobile mechanic. Nice to watch someone who knows what he's doing!

Much respect. Done quite a few clutches, engines out, etc, my own cars, on drives in the past. Very hard work especially tricky trying to get the gear box married back to the engine when you are on you back.

Hats off to you, nice work. I have been an auto tech for over 35yrs. last time I did a clutch on my back for a friend in my garage on a 85 vw gti in the mid 90s. I said never again, I didn't have the strength anymore & barley got it back up. I wouldn't dream of having to have to do one on my back these days. Great watching you making it look easy. All the best to you

How on earth do you change a clutch without (a) swearing (b) losing at least one spanner (c)kneeling on a nut or bolt (d) receiving at least two cuts or banging your head? I was a mechanic back in the 60's/70's and changed clutches on drives, in car parks and even in a wet, dark German forest (I was in the army then), but they never went as smoothly as this. Well done mate, nice work.

LOL, I noticed that too. All that is probably edited out, it's not possbile to that kind of job without a few F words and losing your tools. When he takes that mask off I was surprised how good looking and well groomed he was :) I'm a fella BTW so that's saying something.
