Is it just me or did Willow's character profile talk more about her relationships than the character herself? I know her relationships drove a lot of her character development but at no point did they talk about her nerdy background, how she went from shy and terrified to crazy strength and power, her friendship with Buffy... nada. She's such an amazing character and I feel like this didn't do her justice. Disappointing really.
Not even. the best line was when dark willow and buffy started fighting, and during the fight she calls buffy super bitch. That part had me cracking up lol
Joss is the king of foreshadowing: the willow tree is also known as the "witch tree" (Hexenbaum") in German, it is strongly associated with witches in European folklore (as well as healing powers, being a medicinal plant and all), so even her very name is foreshadowing!
Same!💖Willow is *THE* real reason I started to watch"Buffy"regularly. And no,I am *not* a fan of Dark Willow!Dark Willow is Suffering Willow. I love Willow,so I can't be a fan of her suffering!X-(((
Ok I’m a massive buffy fan, but when I see willow character profile, and I only hear about her relationships, I’d like a 2021 version where we hear about her, she is not defined by who she dated......she, on her own is iconic
Whatever this was recorded as I don’t think it was titled “willow character profile.” They are answering a specific question here. Otherwise they might start with, say, who Willow is.
THANK YOU!!! I just rewatched the show and I couldn't STAND her overbearing, bratty ickyness! Tara was a beautiful sweetheart and Oz was completely in love with her and devoted....with the exception of that one time lol. Kennedy was just...too much.
@@DreamgirlBlue I agree. It was as if the writers absolutely wanted Willow to end the show with someone. She could have stayed single. This relationship was forced to me.
I think out of all of the characters Willow had evolved the most. Like Faith for me personally is my favorite character, but Willow definitley evolved the most.
And most important first confirmed gay couple to appear on tv. They really treated them how is suppost to be, no stereotypes, no stupid jokes about sex.. it was a normal couple like everyone else in the show. 10 on 10 for Joss that made it in that way 👏👏👏
I love when Willow wears the vampire clothes and struggles to walk and pulls at them all awkwardly. Such great acting in her ability to be both characters so well.
Willow is definitely one of my favorite characters, alongside Faith and Spike. All three have such character development, they're entirely beautifully written and complicated, exactly how I like my characters. They're all very human (as funny as that is, talking about a witch, a slayer, and a vampire). But this character profile let me down a bit. It felt more like they were talking about Willow's relationships than who she IS as a character. They make it seem like Willow was defined by her relationships, never mentioning the path she had to take to become an awesome witch goddess from starting as a computer nerd that never wanted to do anything wrong. Such a shame
Right! I was sad when Oz and her broke up but hey, she found another and always cute and kind just like he was. Kennedy.. she gave me a terrible impression, never liked her. They could've done better.
sksjsjjs alright when they have willows doppelgänger and willows talking about her and says “and I think she’s kinda gay” is that foreshadowing or has she already come out at that point
Oz was awesome, Seth Green did such a good job with him. I really wish there was more of him on the show. Alyson did an incredible job on the show, her and Oz had a great chemistry together. Personally, I was really disappointed with the way they went with their storyline. I felt Oz deserved better than what he got. I think him moving to Angel would have been pretty cool, but that didn't happen. I liked the storyline with Willow and Tara, but sacrificing Oz for the storyline didn't feel right to me. When Seth Green left the show, that was the last time I've seen him in anything. None of the shows I watch he was part of, it's a shame.
Seth left primarily because of Austin Powers. He was getting more movie roles and was having a hard time juggling his commitments, so he wanted out of his contract for Buffy. The Oz/Veruca storyline was supposed to last most of the season, but had to be truncated due to Seth's departure.
you also may not have seen Seth on screen a lot but thats cause he moved on to voice over work - the top 3 of the “most successful” people from Buffy is Seth, and Alyson and Sarah and out the 3 Seth has the highest net worth
@@anastasiabrown3801 yup. Seth Green was in mostly movies during AND after this. So him, Alyson Hannigan, AND not Sarah Michelle Gellar (although I wouldn't be surprised if her disappearance from the spotlight was her choice, as her and Freddie Prinze Jr. seem happy with domestic life), but David Boreanaz all went on to do things after Buffy/Angel. Seth Green was in a lot of comedies, including Old Dogs, the Austin Powers movies, and I am sure someone will amend this. Then there's Alyson Hannigan, who also has the American Pie franchise, and How I Met Your Mother in addition to Buffy. She'll be relevant for a LOOONG time. And then apparently everything David Boreanaz is involved with just becomes a hit (Buffy, Angel, Bones and his new show, I forget what it's called)
*OH,GOSH,PLEASE,NO!!!!!!!* I am fed up with Spike since the 1st second I saw him...I already had to drag him throughout almost the *whole* shows about Buffy AND Angel...at least keep him away from Willow's hypotetical spin-off!!!X-O
every character was so perfect on this show i HATED dawn in most scenes since she was so grating but michelle was perfect at playing the bratty teen sister who wanted to be apart of the group, be like other kids, got into trouble, and seeing her react to joyce's death or the prospect of having to be sacrificed then losing her sister.. you still felt for her because she was only a little girl
I wish Oz hadn't left, but I seriously loved the sexual tension between him and Veruca. Then Tara came along and I loved them. I remember the Seth break up and even today I ugly cry watching that scene.
I had a bit of fan fic sketched out where season 7 starts with Willow on trial at the witches coven in England. Courtroom drama and magics. Got the script about 2/3rds done. It started out as rehab for the wayward witch. The coven is really evaluating her prior to the inquisition in the third act. Giles is called to testify and he has to tell the truth about how Willow had run amok. Plus a surprise ending.
I started watching Buffy my junior year of high school and odly enough I ended up crushing on willow Allison Hannigan is so pretty and funny and I think it was great that she had the first gay kiss on tv
I just hated that they made willow do a complete 180 and made her completely gay. She did have romantic and sexual feelings for males. Bisexual was never taken seriously before this show so it would have been a perfect opportunity. But later on I remember Willow liking a male and Buffy saying “He’s a guy and you’re a gay woman” or something. Like bi isn’t a thing????
I’m bisexual, and I felt this way for a long time, but I’ve actually met a fair number of women and men who changed orientation entirely as they got older. So it’s not as far fetched as it seems, much as I’d have liked a bisexual character.
Sexuality is complicated, man. I do agree that Joss Whedon, especially in the early 2000s, probably doesn't have a strong understanding of it, ha. But in my view, it's completely possible for someone to have relationships with a gender they ultimately decide/feel they aren't attracted to. And those relationships can even be fulfilling, in some ways. It's up to every individual and how they interpret the character, but Willow being completely gay isn't far-fetched at all in my opinion. Also, in that example you cited, Willow wasn't into that guy of her own volition. It was a spell of some sort, if I'm remembering correctly. And Willow even tried to 'turn' him into a woman to deal with her attraction to him.
irishomelette When Willow’s vampire doppelgänger was around she stated she was “kinda gay” which, yes, seems like we would be taking the wording too literal, but Joss always hide subtext and took things literal. And her doppelgänger was into both men and women. So she was bisexual but it just wasn’t recognized because of the times. The example I stated is exactly right. There should not have been a need for willow to turn him into a woman. That’s my point. There should have been no “but Willow your a gay woman and he’s a man” because she was bisexual.
@@springlady8337 dude, chill out. She isn't definitively bisexual. If anything, she's definitively a lesbian. The show and the comics in particular go out of their way to establish this over and over again. I agree that her relationship with Oz doesn't seem like the relationship of a closeted lesbian, which is why I understand people seeing her as bisexual. But that's in no way confirmed, if anything the opposite is true. You can headcanon her as bi all you want, that's totally cool and I see your point. But don't complain about other people disagreeing with you when there's a lot of evidence to the contrary.
irishomelette I’m not sure why you are telling me to chill out. I’m quite calm, just having a conversation. But obviously, we are never going to agree and you seem to be offended or sensitive so we can just agree to disagree.
All the other character profile videos you made are on the actual character but Willow's seems to be about her love life and thats about it. Its almost more about Oz's character profile than hers.
i am a supporter of same sex relationships just as much as straight relationships, but when it came to Oz/Willow I just could never get past that couple. Nothing against Tara or the actress that played her, but no chemistry came close to Oz/Willow, the show and Willow just wasn't the same after.
Gosh It's so beautiful how she has grown and gosh she looked so beautiful there when she was commenting and Marty Noxon was so right that is how times are right now nothing is simple anymore not even sex relationships nothing everything g she said and how deep she said it it is so applicable now more then ever for sure. LOVE THAT CHICK LOVE ALL THOSE PRODUCERS LOVE WILLOW'S PERSONALITY AS A CHARACTER I HAVE learned so much from her from watching this show from all these characters From Buffy OZ Tara Dawn Joyce Giles Best years of my life and best amazing producers too that's for sure ! And freaking writers amazing let's not forget about them for sure !
03:50 - 03:52 Yeah...SAME!!;-SSS You just *HAD* to make me go through"Wild Heart"again, did you!?😣😣😣😭😭😭💔💔💔 10:47 - 11:02 Most accurate description of Early Tara *ever!* #WillowsWillow 13:18 - 13:44 And this is the most accurate description of Willow. She really was everything and the opposite of everything throughout the 7th seasons.
why was there no "buffy character profile" done with sarah michelle gellar? i have a feeling sarah was a real little diva back then who thought she played the most important role. she was never seen much doing interviews with the cast. such a shame there's always one who is a difficult demanding diva. i love her regardless.
This is a great video I loved Oz and Willow's relationship I didn't like when she turned gay too much it made me sad :(. I don’t mean to offend anyone, I just mean that I really liked her first relationship with Oz more
@@tonguepetals I didn’t mean to offend anyone I just really liked her first relationship that’s what I was trying to say. Again I’m sorry if I offend anyone
I get what you're saying...I really loved her relationship with oz more than I did with Tara. I like Tara, but I felt like she was a little bit boring.
I am surprised that they made Willow a person who slowly comes over to the gay side. Most gay activists and advocates claim people are born gay, but Willow clearly was not and clearly became gay because of a lack of trust in men.
It's not her slowly coming over to being gay, it's her slowly realizing she is gay. Though, realistically, Willow is more likely Pansexual, meaning the outside of the person isn't as important as the inside of the person. Though she could be bisexual. Though neither pan nor bi was much known about or discussed back then.
I love Willow! In every season she's incredible! But that doesn't mean I agree with the bad choices she makes! I get that Oz cheated on her and there wasn't a way to save their relationship. But I absolutely hated that she choose Tara over both Oz and Xander! I was hoping that her and Xander could finally be a real couple after Oz left Sunnydale! But no it couldn't have been Xander or even Wesley! Screw you Tara!
@@slayergirl6983 Willow being with Tara makes more sense than Willow being with Xander. There's a point of friendship where it goes beyond romantic interest, and I know what that's like. The one time thing they had, they got over it. It'd be kinda disappointing to see them not as friends anymore. Besides, Xander had Anya. I really liked Tara and I think she's perfect for Willow.
Ender , no, not really. Oz was always presented as the good guy, especially because he was able to forgive her, which is something a lot of people can’t do. Even in his leaving, he’s shown as the good guy.
Yeah I honestly thought that it would have been easier for Willow to forgive Oz. Since he was able to forgive Willow when she was secretly dating Xander. I don't believe that Willow honestly thought that her short time relationship she had with Xander while still technically dating Oz wasn't the same as Oz cheating on her! Even though Oz did cheat on Willow, we can at least say that he didn't cheat on Willow with Cordelia or Faith! Give Oz some credit. He could've been sleeping with Faith or Cordelia who used to bully Willow! I think it would've been better to see Oz sneaking around with someone Willow knew and hated!
Not to mention that Oz only cheated when he was in wolf form, which had been clearly shown to be a time when he had no control over himself. I would think that would be an obvious extenuating circumstance.
Xena Summers, well, there's no reason to believe Faith or Cordelia would have slept with Oz, but I agree that she should have been able to forgive him more easily. It is different though. Willow and Xander didn't have sex, didn't get naked with each other, and they thought they were going to die. None of that makes it OK, but it is different. Still yeah, Willow should have been quicker to forgive. Totally agree! But she wasn't really given a chance. Oz had time to process it and get over it. Willow didn't have time to get over it, because he left! That was his choice. And when he came back, she didn't hold a grudge. She wasn't as into boys as she had been before.
