I found this really clear, just a bit fast for me to follow. Had to watch it a few times to get the idea.

Hi! What length rods are you using? Are they green or have they been dried? Great video!

Hey great video, it would be good if you could show how to do it the natural way, without using plastic

You can just tie it with twine. Though if this is green willow don't bother, regardless of how tight you think you've tied it, it will end up loose. There is no alternative to zip ties if using green material since zip ties can be effortlessly tightened as the willow dries. All other ties would need to be completely redone.

@@taylorhillard4868 hey, do you know how they did it before plastic was invented, I’m assuming making this is an old tradition?

@@danmi6099 they would have just tied it with rope or twine....but it would end up loose. If you have more patience you can let the rods dry for a few months, then soak them for a few days until they become flexible again. Then weave them. When you use dried and soaked willows they shrink significantly less. Green willow (fresh) can shrink as much as 50% and just get crazy loose no matter how tight you tied it the first time. Zip ties just make the process faster and easier, and then you can cover it up after it is done.
