Is there no way to put the e-brake cable above the driveshaft with some extra mounting/guiding? Because if you hit a large bump the cable definitely would rub against the driveshaft.
Those studs appear to be swaged into the hub. Some early wagons and many early CJs had this. If you don’t cut the swage, pressing it out WILL damage the hUb. They make a fancy tool to cut the swage, but I’ve found that the judicious use of a 5/8” (if I remember right) hole saw does the job just swell. Be careful not to cut too deeply into the hub or you will damage it. Metalshaper has a good video on the topic.... or you can grind off the head and press(the old swing press works just fine) it out from the inside Source: just did the 11” brake upgrade on my CJ 3a Some others have said this as well, but make sure to not grease the taper on the axle/hub interface. Also. Make sure to only place the key in after you have slipped the hub on. You will split the hub and not find out till you wheel is falling off in a couple months.
