Yeah, they are pricey for sure Knuckles but the shooting experience was totally worth it. A supremely good shooter! Thank you and cheers as always brother!
Wilson's are definitely worth the money, you do get what you pay for. BUT, a more normal priced option that I have and love, and is very similar in form and IMO performance, the CZ P-01 Omega (convertible). I run it with the thumb safety installed so the manual of arms is basically the same as the X9. Never one malfunction, very accurate and the ergos of the CZ 75 platform are some of the best out there.
Great review. I own a EDC X9 and it is my favorite and most reliable pistol. You may want to point out that it has external extractor, no grip screws to come loose, and that the barrel locks up on the hood vice 2 lugs like a 1911. 6k plus rounds zero issues with all types of ammo.
You may want to add to the next video that most people do not have just one gun and need to make it work for carry and range sessions. There are way better choices for carry. I would add that I bought this because of all the good things it retains from 1911 such as single action trigger. I did it more because it does not have the bad. The edc x9 has better reliability as it locks up via the barrel hood and not 2 lugs. No barrel bushing, no grip screws, no grip safety, external extractor which has always been the Achilles heel of the 1911. This is my range gun first and can also be carried or used for home defense. Buy a gun because you like it not because you have to carry it before all else. Edc is the most reliable and accurate gun I have ever owned.
Heck in this day and age of guns..a Tauras is dependable!! Heck Steve air McNair was killed by a $100 Jimenez 9mm!! Price don't matter bullets perform the same coming out one of these or a hi point!! Lol
Wow!!!! The pre vid shenaigans are over the top!!! Really great review. Gonna hang with my beretta apx centurion. The wilson is awesome ; but the apx has many of the great features ; runs flawless and affordable too ....thanks for your time on these great reviews!
Thanks for the review! For my money this is a home run. Even when I take out my open guns to practice I always bring one of my 2 EDC X9s in part because I love shooting it.
Having owned both, here are my thoughts. Both are well built, equally accurate and very reliable. The Wilson in my opinion is of higher quality, more refined and is finished better, it’s also considerably more expensive. If I were going to concealed carry one of these guns everyday, I would choose the Wilson given the fact it is smaller, lighter and overall more compact. If I were looking for a home defense, range or duty gun I would choose the Staccato P. Either way you can’t go wrong, both are awesome guns!
Great review as always... Bought mine a year in half ago shot 4000 rounds thru and it’s performed flawlessly !! If you can afford it I highly recommend it
I would do some truly unspeakable things to own that very gun.. If I were going to order it from Wilson and had the ability to pick the slide/frame finish, grip size/medallion color, etc., I would get mine configured EXACTLY like the one in this video.. To me, it is absolutely perfect.
I decided to purchase this gun (all black) and have put 600 rounds through it. I absolutely love this gun and don't believe that I have ever been as excited about a pistol. You can just look and feel the quality, money well spent. As I look at the one in the video and mine, mine has a shorter trigger and therefore I am betting a shorter grip, It feels perfect (and I wear large gloves).
Got my all black armor tuff X9 is arriving this week. Retired so I am treating myself to a fine handgun. WC is located in my state so I am a little biased toward owning one. Own Sigs, but love the 1911 WC 9mm's. Nice review.
I have the same gun and color and I must say, this Wilson is the best you will ever find. This is so easy to take apart and clean . Hope you enjoy shooting it and I know you will.
Bulletproof is Wilson’s term for machined vs MIM parts. I have 3 Wilson 1911’s and an EDC-X9 on order. Crazy expensive but Wilson stands behind their products and they just shoot great. Awesome review!
Could you imagine actually using it in a defensive situation? Having it confiscated by the police until the matter is settled. I'd be crying every day until I had it returned.
I’d rather carry the best gun I could afford and if I’m ever involved in a deadly force encounter I’d have a better chance of winning that fight. At that point the last thing on my mind would be the temporary loss of my gun. I will probably never be able to afford a Wilson but I am not sure I’d trust my life to a Taurus if I have a better option. I’d much prefer to have a s&w or beretta or Glock or sig or any of the other reputable brand firearms out there. Just my 2 cents.
I'm thinking now about selling the guns I have now just to buy this one.... Wait, I realized I could save for a few years and buy the next gen, but I will endeavour to aquire one of these beauties. I would absolutely carry that gun most days.Thanques KS! Beautiful, and deadly :)
I own the edc x9L got it at brownells in grinell iowa on sale total price was $2300 it is a great shooting weapon I reall like it the only Wilson combat I own I like it almost as much as my sti edge .40 it is a whole different platform Wilson make a fine precision machine
Great review of what sounds like a wonderful pistol, one I can never afford or one I would risk losing after a shooting. I would carry something far cheaper so that if lost wouldn’t break my heart ! Thanks for sharing your experiences with what seems like a one in a lifetime purchase far to nice for everyday carry.
Thanks Mark! I do understand where you are coming from and many have mentioned the idea of losing it in certain instances. That would not be good at all. Cheaper options make much more sense in that regard. Cheers as always brother!
The Star Firestar was way ahead of its time. Compact in 9mm, 40 S&W and .45 ACP. It was the 1991 Guns & Ammo Handgun of the year. It had a lot of the features newer guns are now catching up to. Single action only, Single stack magazine very compact, no grip safety. Dual thumb safeties that can be engaged while cycling the slide, all steel construction, hard chrome finish, cone barrel and slide inside rails like a Sig 210 or CZ75. Also very reliable. Too bad Star went out of business. You can pick up one in very good condition for around $400 or less. Springfield Armory EMP and Kimber Solo, even this Wilson and Kimber Micro, seem to be more expensive legacies to the Star Firestar. If you are looking for an improved micro 1911 the Star Firestar is a good choice. Another interesting history look up Detonics line of Small 1911 style guns that preceded the Colt Officer's ACP. Very cool custom grade guns. But now they are collectors items.
Great job family and thank you for your educate us all on gun safety. As well as gun selection. Education is the key in first line of defense thank you praise God
How do you like the SFX9? I have a Staccato C2 but grips are a little thick for my hands so looking into the SFX9. I have an optic on my c2 so I’ll lose that with the Wilson. I know you can order one with optic but I don’t want to wait months so im just thinking of the non optic. I just don’t want to regret getting rid of my C2
I came to the realization that 5 Sigs, 4 Glocks, a bunch of Berettas etc and a collection of 30 guns doesn’t make sense for me so I have a couple of each of my favorites and I’ve added more Wilson’s in traditional 1911 and EDC X9 variants - fewer standard and more high end but still a good mix. If you can’t justify the price and you have 6 Glocks you don’t use, sell 4 of them and get one of these!
KSGunguy......This is one cherry looking handgun. I should have put on a bib first before watching it😳😳😳. As soon as I checked out pricing, my mouth became dryer than the Texas desert. You are killing me and yet I loved the video.😅😅👍👍👍👍👍
Those are both very nice pistols, I don't know if I'll ever drop that much on one. If I end up winning the lottery you can bet I'll be getting two, one for each hand. :) I love to see high end firearms that ooze quality!!
Great review, thank you. I got a great deal on a used one and have been very happy with it. As an aside, do you know if Harry has any plans to make holsters for the x9? His site doesn’t currently list any.
Awesome x 2 + 1 = (Wilson) (KSGunGuy) and special thanks to Harry for sharing. I covet this gun, but IMO the best carry gun is the most reliable gun that you're willing to give to the police.
Great reveiw as you usually do, way to exspensive in my book , barell & trigger are killer , slide stop a complete failure for the price, no serations on trigger guard to boot. Thanx. P.S.
Great video review KS! However I am setting here trying to think up a new “set of values” to be able to justify $3k... I guess I’m at peace with a Pointman 9 ...justification completed. 😁
Thank you Turbo! It’s definitely pricey. No shame in the Pointman. Those are really cool looking and I’d like to try one at some point. Cheers brother!
If you do plan to get one, and if you're in the military or a vet, then call them and ask about their military discount. 10% amounts to a few hundred dollars on a piece like this.
This is a beautiful gun, no doubt. It is also a joy to take apart a clean because the quality of the components is very high. However, I have not had the greatest shooting experience with my copy. Although the uptake for the trigger is short and there is a defined wall, which I really like, I was surprised to find that sometimes the uptake feels gritty. In addition, I find the trigger on mine to be far too heavy (more explanation on that later). Finally, over the course of about 600 rounds (one thorough cleaning at 300 rounds) I have had about 7 failures to go into battery. In summary, so far I don't feel like my copy is reliable enough for carry and for a range gun the trigger is too heavy. I don't have a gauge but my guess would be 4 to 4.5 pounds. For a range gun (which is what this gun is for me because I don't feel like I can trust it) I like a very light trigger pull of 2.5 to 3 pounds. I am going to do some trigger adjustments to get mine down in that area but if I can't I think this thing is going on Gunbroker. Thought I'd throw out an alternative experience. This is just my opinion and desired trigger pull is subjective. If I were to do it all over again, I would look really carefully at the STI Staccato as an alternative.
Thank you for sharing your experience! It’s unfortunate yours has not been as favorable. I do agree that the Staccato P may be another option. I’ll have an If I Could Only Have One coming soon between the two which may help. Cheers M!
I would send it back to Wilson to get that trigger down to 3 1/2 lbs and do a reliability/ function check on it. I have over 1100 rounds through mine with every kind of 9mm I could find including various self defense ammo and it has has run flawlessly.
Great gun but of course way too expensive for me. I'd love to see a "If I can only have one" vs the Staccato though. I can maybe stomach 2G's but 3G's yikes. Thanks again for a great review!
It’s too expensive for me as well Bloody. Amazing but costly, lol. It will definitely be in an If I Could Only Have One very soon. Just shot the Staccato P tonight and it will stand up well to the Wilson. Thank you and cheers brother!
With the price of the Wilson EDC 9mm at $2800 I suddenly don’t feel that bad about paying $1350.00 for my CMMG [300- series] Banshee (8) inch 9mm pistol in Midnight Bronze. And by the way it takes Glock 33 Round Magazines!
I love the look and size, I just havent won the lottery yet....so Ill have to pass. I shutter looking at 1911's over the $900 mark but man I would love to own a STI Staccato P or this Wilson
Both the STI and Wilson are amazing, though I totally understand where you are coming from and there are some great options around the $1000 mark. Thank you and cheers!
KS----no doubt its a beauty, and it would be something else to shoot..........but for the average guy to spend 2800.00 you could get a duty size, EDC size, pocket gun, and a 357 revolver...I would take the multi average guy guns over one elite guys gun..........that said if you have the money enjoy this beauty
Well said Russ. You can just about fill a safe for $3000, lol. That said the WC was an awesome experience. I hate to have to send it back. Thank you and cheers brother!
I do love a gun that just wants to run like that. I get like that with a couple pistols I have when shooting off the reset. Flat shooters with a light short trigger... 🤩🤩🤩
That imo is a collector's gun. No way on earth would I edc it. Like an earlier comment, you don't want that going to an leo station to possibly never come back. Barbecue gun yes. Edc nope! Always the best reviews om youtube!
If I was told I had to give up almost all my guns but I could keep one pistol and one rifle. I would keep my Wilson Combat .45 and my Wilson AR . I would still be the best armed man in town !
Christian Hardwick agreed but the STI is lighter and IMO shoots better. That’s why I think it’s an amazing alternative for those who don’t or can’t drop $3k on a 9mm handgun.
Great vid, thanks for the review. I have the gray frame with black grips and I love this gun. The more you shoot it the more you will like it. Wilson just came out with the EDC X9L. It has the same size frame but with a 5" barrel and a large mag well. That might be a more direct comparison to the STI Staccato P. Also, Wilson will be coming out with 18 rounds mags for the X9L that will work with the original X9. You can also have the 4" version of the EDC X9 retro-fitted with the larger mag well if desired. Thanks again!
Thank you very much! Those gray framed ones look amazing. That’s what I’d go with if I got to choose. I did see the XL but prefer this size. I think it’s the right balance, especially if you decide to carry. Cheers!
Please do a “If you Could Only Have One” with the STI and Wilson Combat. I am in the market for my first 1911/2011 and I would love to get your opinion on the two.
I definitely will Justin! That’s a must do video. Just shot the P today... wow. I’ll try and get it out as soon as possible brother. Thank you and cheers!
Great video as always! I have owned one since around the time they first came out and have thousands of rounds through mine. As a matter of fact, I am just getting back from a local shoot in which I used it almost exclusively. I can promise you they only get better with time. Some points that were not brought up on the video, or were only may be hinted at: it is a user changeable front sight and it’s very easy to do so. I have three different ones for mine. You can also specify your trigger length at the time of the build, and can swap back straps for a truly customized fit. The grips are also user changeable but are proprietary Wilson grips. I completely understand that the gun may not be for everyone, whether it be the looks or the price. But it’s not like there is a shortage of pistols to choose from in this world LOL however, if you are thinking about getting one, do not hesitate. The folks at Wilson define customer service
You are correct, I mentioned most of those things but only for a moment. I didn’t want to beat that part to death. I do love that you can fully customize the whole setup to your liking. It’s truly an awesome gun and experience. Thank you for sharing and cheers Jason!
That looks like a beautiful pistol. Wow. I just did a video on the Staccato P and I would love to see you do a head-to-head between these two! Thank you and cheers!
I have your vid on my watch list for tonight and can’t wait to see it! I finally shot mine tonight and wow... I’ll leave it at that, lol. Thank you and cheers MD!
Yeah, almost $3k for a pistol is abit much. But Wilson just like Dan Wesson are well made & for sure top shelf Firearms. I'm content with Pistols like my P320 M17, CZ Shadow 2, VP9, CZ P09, my few Glocks as well as S&Ws
I agree that $3k is a bit over the top. I feel like this would be more reasonable at $2k, but what do I know, lol. I completely agree with your list by the way! Thank you and cheers Ty!
@@KSGunGuy01 Hell I almost had a damn panic attack dropping the 1800 for my Shadow 2. Thankfully outside of my commemorative M17 everything else is around that $600 or less price tags. Granted I had to pick up the P320 M17 as well just for one to shoot. Lol
@@KSGunGuy01 I picked it up specifically for 3 gun. I do love it though far more accurate than I am & probably one of the absolute best triggers I've pulled. That & I do like the sound of that steel ringing at 50 ft & 75 ft
Too many people have reliability issues with the double stack Wilson's and lets not even talk about customer service. I have the STI Staccato P. I feel it's honestly a better gun and STI I feel offers better C.S. if you want me to be extremely honest. I got to say though, the Wilson is a super sexxy gun but the STI still takes the Crown. It's also more available for purchase. It's like you have to be royalty to get a Wilson and once again, lacking C.S. and the x tac is copying the hex tac from STI
Old to this one KS but, does the grip on this cause big handed guys to having to have the pinky hang off the bottom? A Glock 19 is a lil too small for me comfortably. Thank you.
Hey KS a bit off subject but I have a chance to buy a new in box CZ PCR for 500.00. In your opinion is this a gun to jump on. Thanks for your reviews and opinion.
@@Baldcurious the EDC uses Mec-gar magazines, they have little difference to the PPQ's magazines, though. Now Wilson offer 18 rounds magazines for the X9 and X9L.
So, when you said up front it was expensive, I took a guess on the price. I couldn't believe when you said the actual price that it was DOUBLE what I had guessed. It looks nice, but that's WAY too rich for my blood.
I love the look and feel of this gun , but can't justify the price tag and I think there's better actual EDC guns , especially in my state where I'm limited to 10 rounds . You should talk 1776 into getting g one , maybe if he sells all his guns , the he can buy one :):)
I totally understand where you are coming from and the 10 round restriction would certainly seal the “no go” on this. Something tells me 17 won’t be getting into one of these anytime soon. Thank you and cheers Bald!
Way to go KS u outlined one of my favorite guns. Price keeps this out of my hands also the fact I carry appendix and I would not be comfortable with the hammer back without a grip safety :(. I did not see in your review if it had a short cocked hammer safety Great review
Yeah, I imagine this would be a chore to carry appendix. As for the half cock, yes it does have one. Hopefully that answers your question. Thank you and cheers Sam!
Glock 19 better option, sig p320x compact better option if you need double/single then p229 or cz p01c either better options. Price , weight , single action not best for combat or edc self defense. However I do have one on the way in about 5 weeks.
