I really don’t like the terms “for beginner golfers” “for senior golfers” etc. I watched your review on the Wilson Launch Pad irons along with many others and decided to go with those over the D7 at the time. I got KBS 80 stiff shafts and I love them! I’ve had golfer after golfer tell me they are ugly or hybrids and they shoot over 90 while I’ve lowered my handicap from 20+ to 12.5 recently! I bought them to help launch them as I’m 6’4 with a steep swing and they just go and float in the air then have amazing stopping g power due to their spin. The PW is also like cheating around the green with chipping. So easy! Highly recommend forgiveness for all golfers and don’t listen to what other golfers think. These look amazing as well for distance and forgiveness
I just bought these irons 3 weeks ago and got 4 strikes underneath my best score ever. The clubs feel great and you can get a great distance, even with a half or 3 quarter swing.
Wilson is my favorite brand of clubs. I just wish I could afford a new set from top to bottom. Wilson seems to have made the right shift in the last few years in design. They have always performed great, but now they look premium too.
Man! I just bumped into this channel .I like the approach you take to club reviews. Keep up the good work. On a side note I´m a happy camper with my D7s.
Just tried these against all the new releases, they were head and shoulders above the rest, good spin and peak height, also their wedges are great, all ordered.
I am a weekend warrior, I been playing a set of Di 7, 3 wedges, 9 to 5 irons, 3&4 hybrids, 3&5 fairway wood. All Wilson. I've been thinking about getting the same set up with the D9 set up. Wish I lived close to your shop. I've never been fitted and would like to experience the difference. Great Video. Thanks
Excellent review and awesome channel! There are alot of reviews out there but you are the best. And most comprehensive. Thanks for the great information.
I went to try some irons at our best local golf shop. I had models from Taylormade, Ping, Mizuno or Callaway in mind. I entend up buying the D9's. At 800$cdn less than the Pings, they are not only great clubs but also a great deal. I got hybrids 4 and 5 and irons from 6 to gap wedge. Tenseï regular graphite shafts. I used to hit my 7 iron at 150 yards. Now, that's the distance of my 9 iron. I simply love them.
Iv read so much about the d9 and asKed so much and seen many videos and was dead set on them but thanks to this honest video - Im not overly sure now with the extra length shafts
Hi Jim, great review thx. Do you think that the Tensei Graphite Shaft may suit me better than the KBS with a swingspeed of 78mph for a 7i? Thx and cheers from Hamburg, Germany.
Another great review by Mr. McGolf.. I like the D9 irons. They seem to have a lot of great reviews. I was wondering with the D9 iron.. Do you know if the D9 irons can be bent to +2 or even +3 degree upright lie angle?? Which is roughly what I need. I am not sure what Wilson recommends on Lie angle customization. Thank you very much.
Great Video! I am on the fence with this club, I had the D7 5,7,9 sent to me for the trail and almost pulled the trigger. They sent me the Graphite stiff shafts though so I didn't. But I am still looking and these look better and you were killing it. I had a motorcycle accident years ago which since I had 4 surgeries on my left wrist...Hand/wrist is crooked and my hand is pretty weak. I am very Athletic though which helps, I hit it straight with my old irons but with my 7 I only hit it like 125. I would love if I could hit that 7 iron like 155-170!!
I like the fact that Wilson’s hybrids have alignment aids on the crown as it seems like many OEM’s omit them for some reason. Unfortunately though I still don’t think Wilson is going to get the sales of the big brands as they have limited Tour staff (and even their staffers use other OEM’s drivers & woods) and limited in store presence (none of my local golf shops carry Wilson).
I am in process of buying D9 irons for this 2022 season, BUT found out they are putting out the D9 forged although not until May/June timeframe. Can you get your hands on the forged versions for review? Knowing the company may or may not want these reviews out just yet.
I own a set of these irons but the distance thing has to do with their lofts. There is no universal chart for lofts for clubs so the Ping 7 iron is 30 degrees and this Wilson 7 is 27 degrees. Basically... a 6 iron for Ping but it says "7" on the club head. Thus... the 10 yards farther. What I've found is the club is really solid. Wide enough sole that you don't get hung up in the turf as easily. Because people are into brands, if these said "taylormade" on them, they would be the top selling game improvement iron on the market.
Hi thanks for the awesome informative video on these clubs. Question I'm in the market for new clubs and I have been looking at the D7 forged and the D9s. I am also 6'4 210 lbs. What clubs would you recommend. I am planning to go hit them and to get fitted. Thanks Billy.C.
Amazes me that someone would say spine a club want help But then say every club has a spine that will effect everyone game rather you do this are not cause the spine in every shaft..whatever part of your game needs help you can spine the shaft to help someone in this part of there game so that is GAME CHANGEING
I asked companies to sell me the clubs not put together so i could spine align them to what i need to help my game they said we dont offer that REALLY?
I really struggle with my low irons. Like 6 and under. Does the extra length on them make me struggle with my higher irons because of the lengths and low lofts?
Hi John, I also struggled with that idea before I bought the D7 a couple of years ago. I am getting on in the years and needed some distance without breaking my back. I do not care what is stamped on the bottom, I play with 9 irons, 4 - pw, gw, sw. With these irons I can play full shots from 100y - 210y +.
If you can get the lie angle to your spec and didn't flip at release I believe it could work. However, if your conditions are firm/ and short Id make sure your were lead the head into the ball.
The wider sole can present an issue with picking as it could bounce you up into the ball higher than desired. From fittings if you have descent turf and do those swing issue It isnt not a big issue. However get on some hard pan then yes it is a problem. But it is for most clubs
@@McGolf I tested a few shafts and ended up with 5-GW with Recoil Dart F3. My only concern is that I do draw the ball slightly and I hope these D9’s don’t exaggerate it.
@@McGolf yes, it looks very nice, wish it was adjustable , nice standard shaft choice. I’ve tried them at Demo days two years ago, virus screwed that up last year, they hit well, just don’t seem to sell as well as they did years ago. The finish on their club heads are great, I used to own the red fat shaft woods,
Hahaha this dinosaur reviewing and I use that in the broadest term figured out that people are using computers to make clubs better now.. because they haven't been doing that for 25 years...hahaha now these giant scientists can't be too smart because they would have figured out last year or the year before which design and weight placement works better instead of just what works better that they release every two years for you to buy!!!.,joke .. by the way to a pros often have clubs 6 to 8 years old in there bag...
