I recently bought a set of these, 6 - PW, and finally got to play them a few days ago. I'm 73 and I feel my game needs all the help I can get and I do not ever see myself going back to blade irons. I hit them well, no chunking, no thin shots, no blading, just consistently solid shots resulting in a 17 shot improvement over the last time I played that course. They're amazingly solid and straight and I can only say...WHERE HAVE THESE IRONS BEEN ALL MY LIFE? I can only speak for myself, an older golfer who used to be a whole lot better at ball striking once upon a time with blade irons; Now, I have these LP2s and they have made the game less frustrating and infinitely more enjoyable for me. Since they work so well, I think they're beautiful for looks as well as beautiful for the results they've given me. Just my $0.02.

I'm in the same age group here, and just on the edge of a purchase, however, i'm confused about the shafts , and what i should use, I'm not a big hitter, and with maybe a 3/4 swing, are the steel shaft or carbon shafts better for me?

@@johnridley1038 My personal recommendation would be the carbon graphite as they seem more flexible and shock absorbing than steel. I had been using a set of Pings and the steel shafts are much stiffer than the graphite. My set has the Regular flex carbon graphite shafts and I can't imagine going back to steel again. My advice would be to go to a big retailer and hit a few with demo clubs which is what I did at a local PGA Superstore. I tried the steel regular, the graphite senior flex, and the regular graphite. For me, the steel transmitted too much vibration at impact and the senior graphite was not solid enough. The graphite regular flex was just right. IMO, for an investment of several hundred dollars, hitting demos is a good investment in time and, if you have a pro who can fit you, even better. I really like the Wilsons but I'd also suggest you try hitting other brands as you never know until you hit a ball. Best wishes and good luck with your new irons.

I’m 34 years old and a 13 handicap. I have the Wilson Launch Pad 1’s and love them! Highly recommend for just what tim said here with forgiveness and easy to hit. I love the height and the how it stops on the green. Also, the chipping around the green is super easy with the PW. It honestly feels like cheating how easy it is to bump and run. The LP 2’s look even better!

Just played my first round with these irons. My iron play has been shite for a few years, couldn’t get decent contact and wasn’t carrying anything longer than a 6 iron (Ping, PXG). Was relying too much on my Ping ChipR. Saw the reviews and decided to give them a go. First round yesterday was the best I’ve played in years. No thin or thick hits and I played wedges for the first time in a long time. Played my second on a par 4 I never reach in two with the 5 iron. It went straight and high and stopped just where I was aiming on the green. Missed the birdie put but who cares. Got the par. It was my first 5 iron in a couple of years. Once I got going I played the back 9 in 5 under my handicap. I’m 70 and I had 15 years off golf until a couple of years ago and I had lost my swing completely. I think I have it back. It’s so good to be able to play full iron shots rather than scrambling with a chipper. Time will tell but I love these clubs already.

I bought the similar Cobra T-Rails, which I love, but I may have purchased these if a demo had been avail. Also, am using the Wilson Launch Pad 1 driver, and it is an amazingly straight driver for me. I cannot imagine the LP 2 could be better. Meanwhile, this was a good video, as you got a lot of info in a tight presentation. Not overly long, just the most relevant points.

Tried to order a set of these. Backorder delay was disappointing. After waiting several weeks with no communication, I canceled my order and went with a set of Taylormade Stealth irons. Wilson needs to up their game if they want to compete and profit.

Seriously considering getting these at the end of the year.. At 53 I have started loosing Distant. And based on reviews looks like you can expect 15 - 20 Yards per a club increase in Distant

hi tim, great video. i have the LP2 irons and love them. the anti scratch paint is not quite as good as I thought it would be and they scuff up quite a bit. but from a performance viewpoint, I play off 10, they are excellent. I hurt my wrist a few years back and couldnt play with my Mizunos so took a chance on these and love them. Forgiveness is huge and they are great around the greens - the Gap wedge in particular. love them! when are the next iteration out do you know?

Good review and comparison Tim, looks like the upgrade has been worthwhile. Can the lie angle be custom fit.

Hi Tim , thank you for the video. I am so frustrated with my game...I'm ready to buy some new clubs and these are definitely on my list to try, along with the Cleveland Halo and the Cobra T-rail. I tend to hit everything left, do you happen to know if any of these clubs have a draw bias? I need some help. 😀 Subbed!

Hi, very interesting,. I am on the cusp of taking a chance with these but.....how about the short game, pitching over a bunker or a little pitch and run? Do you lose any 'feel' with these.

Any tips of how to set up and strike these compared to a traditional CB iron?
@TimElliottGolf
@TimElliottGolf 9 месяцев назад
Because of the wider sole they’ll help the occasional heavy strike. And if you strike it off centre these will be very forgiving. Setup: Ball Centre with wedges-7iron. Then inch it forwards in 6 and 5 (if you have them). This will help to create a shallower angle of attack with the longer clubs. General advice without seeing your swing. 👍🏻👍🏻 Hope it helps.
