Doesn't include EGREGIOUS fouling sanctioned by NCAA referees. Doesn't include being bitten by a racist opponent. This is why Wilt left UK early. Ironically, the EGREGIOUS fouling continued in the NBA sanctioned by NBA referees!
What I notice about wilt he was well balance in strength. Normally tall centers are limited because they could seriously injure themselves. But wilt was all over the place speed, long jump, high jump, weights. Wilt was a one of a kind super athlete. That you witness if you are lucky in a lifetime. Thanks wilt for the entertainment
he could also run a 400m in under 50 seconds and a 1/2 mile in under 2 minutes. I can't imagine any other center in history having that kind of speed/endurance. it's hard to imagine Shack being able to run an all out 1/2 mile at all. Looking at some of his college highlights he also had a touch from the perimeter, so a prime Chamberlain with all the benefits of the modern day athlete, nutrition, strength training, etc., would have easily adapted to today's game and he would dominate now just like he did in the 60's.
This what i say about wily the perfect body is about 6'3 6'3 220 wilt was 7 1 270 he was the first and probablu yhe only u foooter to fill out hia frame like a 6"3 6"4 person would. His physique was godly. Look at his neck muscles in some clips he looked like running back. Its the physique
It’s not entirely true most footage and people of the era do show they he did mostly score at the basket be it with post moves power moves or dunks and finger rolls etc. His bank shot was definitely a useful tool on top of things though.
@@themaninblack8271 the footage I see does not show him dunking a lot wether it's close to the basket or a jump shot. Guys that played against him talk about how he was finesse player offensively.
@@themaninblack8271 actaully it was a hair over 60 percent of his shots were fade aways. so still moreso than not it was skilled shots and not dunking.
Wilt really broke the nba if you think about it wilt had refs puzzled and if they should call it goaltending but technically isn’t he is just blocking it at such a crazy height. Even the thought of someone his size running that fast is kind of scary
Wilt was a decathlon athletic with animal strength 💪 quickness speed agility stamina endurance ect he was a complete specimen very smart skilled and talented
I saw Wilt play and to this day, he's the most dominant center I've ever seen. Wilt generally didn't play on championship level teams but he always played at a high level. No player has ever averaged 30 points and over 20 boards in a season except Wilt. Wilt averaged 30 and 23 for his CAREER.
If the identical Wilt Chamberlain came up today, the 1950s Wilt we're seeing in this video, HE'D BE THE BEST PLAYER IN THE WORLD! If the identical Wilt came up today, played AAU, all the elite camps, etc., HE'D BE THE BEST PLAYER IN THE WORLD. Your choice!
@@hanawoldu9181 Take basketball out. Go to the NBA today and get Otto Porter, Giannis, Jokic, Embiid, Durant, LeBron, or Zion. Set up this pole and see who clears it! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3drvcaXtAh4.html You'd verify the fool you are in holding your breath to see who does it!
Actually feel like he would be more dominant if you gave him the same skill set. He would get 10 15 a game off pnr lobs and 20 jst dumping the ball to him in the post
Bill Russell just died... RIP legend So smart, so good to be able to impact the game the way he did. Huge respect sad people don't give him the credit he deserves. He could score he had the left handed hook he was athletic but he chose to sacrifice. 2nd greatest rebounder ever. The greatest defender of all time. Could pass. He didn't need to play offensively single-handedly. The greatest player second only to Wilt. It is really tough to win it but to say the least he left with the most accolades of all the thousands of players in the NBA. The most succesful player ever RIP 31 7 2022
THE BEST ATHLETE OF ALL TIME THE BEST TO EVER COME THRU THE LEAGUE. HIS CAREER DEFINED THE EYE OF THE TIGER AND HEART OF THE GOAT. HE WAS A CHAMPION AND FIERCE COMPETITOR. HE ACCOMPLISHED IT ALL. PLAYED INJURED. RETURNED BACK FROM SEVERE INJURY TO EVERYONES AMAZEMENT. HE BATTLED UPSTREAM HIS WHOLE LIFE. THE BEST REBOUNDER. THE BEST SHOT BLOCKER. THE BEST CLUTCH DEFENDER AND PERFORMER. JORDAN AND LEBRON DIDNT UNSEAT BILL RUSSELS CELTICS IN 67. HE CHANGED HIS GAME CONSTANTLY FROM BEST SCORER OF ALL TIME TO BEST DEFENDER OF ALL TIME. A FULL TEAM PLAYER WITH HIS PASSING ABILITY. THE MEDIA TO THIS DAY BLACK BALLS HIM. THE PROOF IS IN THE PUDDING. BUT YOU HAVE TO EAT THE MEAT AND POTATOES FIRST
Wilt Chamberlain had godlike physical abilities. He could run the 1/2 mile in under 2 minutes and the 400 meters in under 50 seconds, plus his strength. His mix of strength, endurance and speed has never been seen before or since. As well as bench press 600 pounds. I'd love to see any NBA player today including LeBron James equal him and any of these feats!
@@renzo2k20 As a Kansas track and field athlete, Wilt ran a sub-eleven second 100m, a forty-nine second 400m in “baggy sweats”, and a 1:58.3 second 800m. All while being a 7'1” Goliath of a man.
@@brendanbloom3366 Russell was an elite jumper like Chamberlain. But, we never ever mentioned Russell. I don't think, we'll see two athletes of that caliber playing against each others in their prime! Chamberlain's sergent was measured at 39.6 or 40.35"; mentioned by the University of Kansas or the Philadelphia Warriors (depending on your source). We aren't sure about Russell though. Both excelled in athletics events (high jumping and running) : High Jumping : * Bill Russell = 6 feet 9 1/4 In 1956, he was the 7th best jumper in the WORLD! * Chamberlain = 6 feet 6 3/4 440 Yard Dash : * Russell ran in 49.6 seconds * Chamberlain ran in 48.9 seconds!
@0:39 He kinda looks like a young Kobe Bryant in the face and in his walk. See that Philly Swag. Overbook high school is just a couple miles away from Lower Merion Highschool. Bloodlines???
Freeze frame @4:24 that is absolutely ridiculous. I'll definitely accept a 7'1 Wilt to have had a 50-inch vertical. All this hype about the 2023 draft and 7'3 Wembanyama. No one even comes close.
Wilt is recorded at 48 inch vertical, best in NBA history. Looking at his jumps in some games, I think he got to 50 inches, but nothing more than the 48 as an official recording. Shaq would have been eaten alive by this man. Chamberlain is the best fadeaway shooter the NBA has ever seen. He'd bully Shaq in the post and if not, just shoot his fadeaway bank shot all day. People forget that Chamberlain was a God tier shooter from the 12-18 foot range. MJ and LeBron top 3 ever, but they are not WILT. The greatest athletic speciman in human history.
@@danielgray65 Shaq was far more aggressive than Wilt so it would’ve been interesting to see if Wilt would change his game to try over aggress Shaq…Wilts vertical wasn’t that high though, he’s notoriously full of shit
Wilt according to the players that played him and with him said he held back his full power. Shaq's vertical reach is lower than Wilt's. Shaq would be posterized by dunks. Also Wilt would do that reverse finger roll over Shaq. That finger roll when Wilt was prime was literally unblockable more than Kareem's skyhook. Wilt would average 30 and 20 on Shaq. Thats just a Conservative estimate on the lower end. High end 35 PPG.
he is high jumping 6'6 in the air at 0:10 using old technique so his vertical is not that surprising. I can't think of any other seven footer to be able to pull off that high jump. if you look at his acceleration at 1:59 and 2:02 it's just absurd, because he actually needs to SLOW DOWN after crossing half the court to be able to complete the play. his quads must have been godlike.
Omg. I think I heard the best Wilt Chamberlain Story ever right here in this video (4:50): He used to wear kneepads on his shins. People were asking why and he said I have to protect them because ellbows hit me their while rebounding
Look at his shots. Not all dunks. Fade aways. Fade away banks. Wilt was a skilled player not just a physical specimen. His game was similar to Tim Duncan's in that way.
Is there any footage of him anywhere taking these two long strides and dunking from the free throw line? Youd think itd be welldocumented when he did...
If great defensive play consisted of blocked shots, Wilt would be the unchallengeable greatest defensive player in NBA history. I think it's clear that defense consists of more than blocked shots but I don't see a metric that would deny Chamberlain's greatness on defense. It would only be a question of whether he was better than Russell overall. I suspect he would be but I'm not sure. Russell's defense fundamentals were superb.
YOOOO FOOBAS can you please make a wilt chamberlain "moves" video people dont understand that wilt invented or popularized most of the center and post moves today
@@rodneymckinnon9075 Wilt Chamberlain played against the best Boston Celtics in NBA history. Your dear Michael Jordan didn't play against anyone when he was finally able to win his first championship in '91. Go preach your nonsense elsewhere. In Jordan's time there was no competition in the NBA anymore.

Is it me, or did Shaq have a way better skill set, better footwork and ( I thought I would never say this in my lifetime ) a better free throw percentage?
Are you nuts? There is NOTHING that Shaq could do as well as Wilt, except free throws. A young Wilt could shoot those as well. A better skill set? Are you kidding me? Wilt could out shoot Shaq blindfolded. Five times better passer.
Better footwork? 😆 🤣 😂 shaq can't dance wilt could wilt wasn't allowed to carry the ball do crossovers and spin moves because the NBA rules were different, shaq barely had any post moves while wilt had a jump shot fade away jump shot reverse lay ups finger rolls pump fakes hook shots ect
No matter how hard you guys try, Michael Jeffrey Jordan is the Goat and will always be the Goat. Amongst your small groups, you can play with your delusions of Wilt and Russell, but if you’re not blind and/or deaf, then you will admit that all of you who have constantly tried to dethrone Michael Jordan from the highest throne of thrones, has utterly failed! And you will continue to fail for Wilt and Bill are not even in the Goat discussion. And as of last season, LeBron James was officially removed from the Goat conversation. Once you all realized that LeBron James had utterly failed to dethrone the Goat of goats aka Michael Jordan, you desperately started reaching far back to Bill Russell, Kareem Abdul-Jabar, and Wilt Chamberlain. I don’t know why you people hate Michael Jordan. He is the most humblest man considering that he is not only viewed as the Goat of basketball and the NBA (this is old news and too obvious), but Michael Jeffrey Jordan is viewed as the greatest professional athlete in American history, which means that he’s in the conversation of being the greatest pro athlete in world history. Michael Jordan is in the conversation with Jackie Robinson, Muhammad Ali, and the Greco-Roman gladiators of early world history. So to say that Michael Jordan is the greatest basketball player in history, is to say that the sky is blue in the daytime. So imagine uploading RU-vid videos to try to convince 1 or 2 bitter haters that reality is not real. Yes Wilt, Kareem, and Russell were great even though all three men can’t dribble the basketball without putting their head down and looking at the rock or the court floor, but they are all so far inferior to Michael Jordan, that it’s not even worth debating. Every man and boy in the NBA, NCAA, college, high school, middle school, elementary school, kindergarten, and pre-school decided to pick up a basketball because they all wanted to be like Mike. Every woman and girl in the WNBA, NCAA, college, high school, middle school, elementary school, kindergarten, and pre-school decided to pick up a basketball because they all wanted to be like Mike. Hopefully you all can face reality because your delusional lies are not working and they will never work. ✌️
Back then he was great but by todays standards he looks freaking average. Dude has no in game tactics. In todays game he would be run off the court. The reality is that sports stars today will destroy their contemporaries of the past. Saying wilt is better than guys today is like saying the iPhone 4 is better than the iPhone 13
You do not know basket .wilt would eat modern players alive. The players in the 60.s had better tactics and smarts. Wilt play against modern players at ucla during the summer's at ucla. Players like prime magic johnson and many other players in scrimmage games and beat him and them. I think it was asked of coach larry brown who was best player that he ever seen player a 43 year old retired wilt playing at ucla in the 1980.s
