Hey nice video! Just a friendly tip next time. Clean the wheel bearing hub mating surface before you install the rotors next time. You increase the risk of hub lateral run out due corrosion and possible other factors. Get a wheel brush and blast that corrosion away. - From a fellow R53 owner
Thanks! It looks like they just posted a bad picture in the Amazon listing. That's the same one I ordered and used on my calipers, so it'll look the same as it does in my video if you prep and paint the calipers properly.
I know that this generation of mini utilized brake pad wear sensors. Does the Wilwood kit utilize them as well or if not Is there anything special someone needs to do to prevent the brake pad light to come on?
Sorry for the late response! I sold this car a few years ago, but I know it didn’t have any sort of warning light after installing the Wilwood kit. Whether the kit came with sensors or not I don’t remember though.

simon kong stock Cooper S pads and brakes. No need to upgrade the rear brakes for most applications. Just keep it well maintained and you should be good to go :)
Franco Groppi that should definitely not be the case. If you’ve installed and fastened everything properly and checked for leaks, I would assume the problem area would be bleeding the brakes. Put your foot on the brake pedal with constant pressure and observe if the pedal slowly continues to sink. If so, it’s very possible that you have air in the system and need to bleed the brakes again. I’d look into doing this again after checking to see if any of the easy fixes don’t work (maybe a loose bleeder valve on a caliper or whatnot). Hope this helps!
DoubleOSevan thanks! I will bleed them again so. I chacked de bleeder screws and one seem to leek some brake fluid prome de black top side... but i assure is tighten. What can i do?
Franco Groppi hmm, that shouldn’t happen. I would thoroughly clean the area and have a helper press the brake pedal while you observe the suspected leak area. On a side note, it usually takes a few tries to bleed the brakes fully and evacuate all of the air in the system. I would also make sure your bleeding process is correct and that you’re not introducing more air - ChrisFix has a good video on bleeding brakes if you’re not as familiar with the process.
Thanks! Yes, you definitely need brake cleaner for new rotors. The manufacturer will usually put a layer of grease on the new rotors to prevent rust. You'll need the brake cleaner to remove that grease layer before installation.
Franco Groppi with these big brake kits, it’s really more about the ability to repeatedly stop than it is initial bite. That’s not to say these don’t stop harder, they definitely do; but I’m able to repeatedly brake hard on the track with little to no fade during a 20 minute session. The R53 is a light car so this kit is a bit overkill. 10/10 from me, especially with the ease of changing pads.
