Wimbledon. What story. Roy of the Rovers as a club. Funny that big beasts moaned about them but they all bought Wimbledon players. Sadly it will never be possible again as its only about money. Yes you get smaller clubs who do well in the FA Cup but only because the big clubs field second string sides in cup ties hoping to go out leaving them to concentrate on the Prem Lge & the lucrative millions to be made plus possible Champ Lge money.
Indeed it was. Even when this programme was made Winkelman was planning to get his mits on another club somehow. Luton, QPR and Barnet had already been approached. The sad thing is that ITV digital's collapse left Wimbledon in huge trouble. Low attendances, huge wages and Palace making it clear they wanted Wimbledon gone by raising the ground rent. The possibility of groundsharing with Millwall or even Chelsea should have been looked into. They nearly ended up at Loftus Road but Fulham beat them to it. It was Winkelman's interference that ultimately ruined the club.
if you told fash at the time, in your future you will be swinging round a jungle acting crazy for the publics entertainment, i wonder what he would have thought?
Wimbledon had the chance to buy Selhurst Park for a pittance when Palace were in administration. The fact Sam Hamman didn't take up that option is proof he had this plan for MK for years.
