Great video. I have the same issue with my HW30, without wind it has PCP accuracy.. But just the slightest breeze throws it off considerably. Still one of my favorite springers though! Take care!
Hi. Yes i agree. With some training and a good artillery hold you can get PCP results out of a HW. Shooting a springer is just a way bigger challenge for me. A pellet shot out of a PCP will be effected the same way in windy conditions if the speed is about the same.
Hi Kevin, wow that's a pretty windy day you got there. Its good to see that wind is a universal problem. Reading the wind is an art form, I often think that a .22 is better than a .177 on a windy day, just like a .25 or .30 is better again. Heaver projectiles seem to be less effected by wind, I often wondered does the wind at the muzzle or down range at the target matter more...?? Anyway get back inside by the stove before you catch a chill. Love the video as always.
Thanks for your video Kevin👍 It is always a big discussion what pellet is better for windy conditions. Light or heavy. A light pellet is more affected by the wind but is quicker at the target. A heavy pellet is less effected by the wind but it takes more time to hit the target. I think a pellet somewhere in the middle like 8.2 gr is maybe the best option for all conditions. I use the JSB 8.44 gr. I never do target shooting when it is windy and i don't want to have to many different kind of pellets 😅 The FT guys have no choice, but they are the experts shooting in windy conditions. Cheers!
@@marcmyers1465 What i don't quite understand, when i shoot a JSB Target Sport diabolo (flat head) 8.02gr or a JSB Exact 8.44 gr round head from my FWB 300S on 25 meters (same weather conditions), there is almost no difference in precision or impact. The lighter flat head must be a bit quicker and has a worse bc and the 8.44 a bit slower and a better bc in the beginning. That must compensate each other exactly and give them about the same speed on 25 meters. If i remember right, the 8.44 gave a bit lower impact at 10 meters, so i guess that will be the case than. I will Chrony them some day to be shure.
@@rapalaron6348 That IS perplexing. 🤔 I would expect they are past the point of diminishing returns but the BC is getting it in under the wire. Very curious. 😳
I only shoot 22cal and 30cal and my R9 is a little more powerful than that. It's favorite pellet is the 18.52gr Hunter Extreme and at 25yds the wind doesn't affect it much, but at 52yds it definitely does. It's second favorite is the 14.66gr Field Target Trophy and just being 4gr lighter makes them more susceptible to a cross breeze. Another great video, very informative and you definitely have good tastes in guns. One that's been surprising me is the Gamo Swarm Hunter 22 with the wood stock. Only a buck fifty and crazy accurate right out of the box, a 1" group at 52yds with cheap Crosman pellets. It shoots so well I recommended it to 2 of my friends and they're very happy with theirs. I did shim and grease the spring, and put a better scope on it.
Hi Kevin ...well watching your vids i picked up a nice HW 80 k mk 1 ...though at moment she is way over our legal limit ft/lbs ...though i hate to do it ...i have some de..tuning work to do ...cheers for this channel 🇬🇧🇺🇲👍👍
Congratulations Chris. You bought yourself a fine rifle. How were you planning on reducing the power output? I don't know if you can buy it in the UK but Vortek Products in Michigan, United States carries a 12 foot pound kit for the hw80. I can't say enough about their products.
@@razor1962 Hi Kevin thanks for reply 👍..i have owned one or two in the past but you sparked a new intrest when i came across your channel ...it is a .22 and a tad twangy lol ...will try purchase a Vortex kit ...but iff not probs knock a couple of coils and polish ends ..🤔
thanks for this video sir... interesting and enjoyable as always 😄 will you have an opinion as to whether attaching a suppressor (using an adaptor) to the HW30 will significantly decrease the "crack"?
Hi Mark. To be honest, I have no experience with the UK version of the HW30S. I would assume that the silencer can be removed, but I can not confirm. Perhaps you could pose that question on one of the UK airgun forums. Thanks as always, my friend.
Guess ya' had to be there. It was a windy day indeed... You can see my hair moving, the shadows from the trees moving, and you can actually see the target itself moving as the camera shakes around. Further, if you PAY ATTENTION, you can even hear the wind in the microphone. Insinuating that I'm not being truthful is a quick way to piss me off..
