I actually am the same way where all my clocks have to be running on time or else it screws up my day. I am so happy that I found another great winding video. Please do a retake again if possible maybe after all the clocks strike 1.
I love clocks and in my collection I have a wall chiming pendulum one three cuckoo ones five desk clocks one digital alarm clock and a quartz wall clock plus a clock that I made myself
Sorry for the late reply, but yes! It's a Howard Miller Shelburne, 612-533. I believe mine is a little older than Kam's at ClockTV. Mine is badged 1983 if I recall correctly.
@Hiimjef f Ah, awesome! Yeah, they're not very rare or uncommon, seems like they were heavily mass produced. My grandparents bought it brand new back in the 70s I think.
Did you know that on Big Ben the weights actually helped to keep the hands stable so they wouldn't be affected by wind and drive the clock hands back as to make the clock inaccurate? That might be why clocks have weights and springs.
What you're referring to is called maintaining power, where a temporary power source such as a spring or an extra weight will kick in once winding begins, that provides a constant driving force to the escapement so that during winding power is not lost, thus time is also not lost. There's a few different variants of maintaining power. Bolt and shutter maintaining power is a single example. Some clocks _do_ use a combination of a very small backup spring and the main weight. The small spring engages with the main wheel of the clock which will help it continue forward while the weight is being raised, so you're right, yeah. :D
gosh, could we have a version without the speech at the end? i could end up listening to this before sleep rather frequently lol edit: furthermore.. god, my ultimate goal in life would be to live in a house with walls lined with clocks, all so i can hear their mechanical noises fill the building, and especially the winding
Totally! I'll work on editing out all my moments where I speak, and I'll upload it for you as unlisted. I'll post the link here so that you can save it and listen to it. ^^ Just stay tuned and check back frequently! I know how RU-vid likes to not give people notifications, so I will eventually get this done.
@@yeen.7209 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Aip_iVMNFbg.html There it is! There're some cuts because I tried to minimize the annoying audio where I switch hands and the microphone picks up on it. Hope this helps. ^^
Due to rust damage, the verge snapped off from the crutch when I was attempting to make adjustments. I still have the case and the face. Maybe one day I can find a German movement for it so it can at the very least keep time again.
