How to fix install replace window regulator motor DIY 99 00 01 02 03 Acura TL Replacement Tutorial 

Gentlemen, awesome job! I'm a mechanic that works on all cars and when I haven't done something like this, i obviously go to you tube for a video on how. You guys showed how to do it very well and very simply. EVEN SOMEONE WHO HAS NO EXPERIENCE CAN FEEL CONFIDENT THAT THEY CAN DO IT!! Again, awesome job! Best how to video I've ever seen!!!!!!

When you remove the plastic barrier, you can also use a heat gun to warm the adhesive for removal. This will help preserve the weather barrier for a snug seal when replacing. Used your video to replace my 2000 3.2 TL driver's side regulator. Your narration of instructions was awesome. The lighting and view angles were also spot-on.

GREAT tutorial. I made short work of this job on my '02 Acura TL. Thanks for the tips on the masking tape on the window, and the glue in the socket. Two things: 1. I ended up with 3 screws “left over”. I was stuck for a minute until I remembered that the regulator came with the 3 “grooved” screws already included. 2. I wasn't able to test the window until the switch on the door panel was reconnected.

I used these instructions to fix our 04 Acura MDX window and it worked like a charm. I am not mechanically inclined but I know how to follow instructions! Thank you so much for the details! It was exactly what I needed! Saved me hundreds of dollars.

Good job! My only suggestion to make the finish job better is when you remove the plastic barrier, start from the bottom and use a razor blade to cut the adhesive. Just pull on the plastic so the adhesive stretches and use the blade to cut the stretched adhesive. The plastic barrier remains in tact and the finished job looks better!

Thanks guys for the great tutorial! I was quoted $300+ to fix the drivers window in my 2001 Acura MDX. Luckily I saw your video and found the part for $70 shipped and changed this out myself. Took just about 45 minutes. Process was very similar.

Success! This tutorial just worked for me, and I purchased the part directly from you because this video seemed so good. I have not worked on my own car in over a year, and rarely do so. This made it quick and stress free. Saved me over $300 that would have been down the drain. Saved me from getting a broken or slow-shipping part from somewhere else. You saved my reputation as a Dad (68) who used to work on cars and my kids $200 vs. Acura's price of $388 to replace. Four things to consider: 1.) I bought the entire regulator from Parts Geek for $140. Auto Parts Warehouse had the same one for $161. Neither one seemed to own the part but were drop shipping someone else's stock. Since Parts Geek didn't have a phone number, I paid an extra $30 for overnight delivery from a warehouse 45 miles from my house. Oops.STILL CHEAPER THAN ACURA BY $100. 2.) Buying the entire regulator is the SMART move because buying just the motor wouldn't have helped since the cable was also broken. 3.) I fought with what appeared to be simple installation for 30 minutes before I discovered that the TSK' part had a motor bolt in the wrong position on the motor for the panel slots. Oops again. 4.) Very happy to discover that the window mount on the channel was already pre-positioned correctly so all I had to do was drop the window and install 2 bolts. SWEET! Thanks so much for your video.

I just wanted to chime in and say thank-you for your videos. Your audio and video quality are pretty darn good, decent camera work for doing it yourself too. I really appreciate you saying which bolts are where and the sizes a couple different times as well as actually pointing things out. Nice tips and tricks as well; I'l try and remember you when I need some more parts in the future. :)

Great video. As someone who is decent mechanically but has never had a power regulator out this helped a lot. Mine is an MDX but after watching your video to see the basic design it was super easy.

Nice Video. Very linear, thoughtful about the little details. I have already dismantled my 2005 MDX window, and it is about the same thing. Mine works except for some tiny broken plastic guides for the cables that allowed them to disconnect from window slider. Thumbs Up. Thanks. Also, my Air Conditioning Vent Motor seems to have just gone out... the part is so expensive! Will search for a tutorial or even just diagrams to see what that replacement will entail. Will also check out your parts store.

Great pro detail that most $$ saving DYI Katz can understand. 1 suggestions; The aftermarket parts availability/selection may have evolved since filming but there are quite a few aftermarket replacement brands out there to choose from? Maybe listing your preference or a good-better-best; even a Honda Accord part cross match; this would be great information. cheapest part sometimes cost you a lot more in the long run with some of these aftermarket brand “compatible fits” not fitting or even the opposite where one manufacture makes it for 4 differently priced reseller....

Excellent DIY video! I learned alot!! Are the parts on the regulator sold seperately? The plastic piece that guides the cable broke off! The window does not close completely. It leaves a small crack opening at the top. Can I use some kind of "super glue?" Thanks again for the tutorial.

On the plastic clip that holds the door handle rod, mine just twisted out of the way instead of trying to pull past the top of the clip. Just twist it like 90 degrees out of the way and then the rod will come right out. I found this out by accident but maybe it'll help speed up the process in the future 🍻

Question on the new regulator does it have to be in a certain position , the plate that the two 10mm bolts go through that the window attaches to ? In the video it's the part right after removing the tape off the window. Thank you for the video

Thanks for the help! I replaced my back driver side regulator and it turned out to easier, But I have one question, when I was putting the door frame back on, I snapped the tiny clip that holds the lock pin in place. What is that clip called?

Try hooking it up to the plug and the window switch to move the bracket up/down to the right position.

Is it the same for the rear passenger side window ?

Should be very similar on the 04. Sounds like a regulator issue. Could be off track somehow as well. Best to open it up and run direct power to it from battery if possible to see how it performs.

@dtarango18 Hi there, It should be the same concept. They almost always are: Remove door panel, unmount glass from regulator, take out bad regulator, install new regulator, mount glass back to regulator, and finally, put panel back on.

I need to do this. When I test my electric locks they don't always move up and down fully. Is there a way to lubricate that when the panel is off or still on?

great video. Are the instructions the same for a 2004 ? My 2004 passenger window will not go all the way up when the either switch is used (driver or passenger) It goes up about 2' and then immediately goes back down. Regulator?

if the motor is not frozen, do you adjust the window up/down before disconnecting the wire, until the bolts align with the holes?

Mine was a rear passenger 2003 MDX so not exactly but similar. The new regulator window attachment needed to be lowered to bolt it. However, when I plugged the regulator back for power, it doesn't move. Doesn't act like it's getting power at all. Got a new regulator and same thing. Any ideas as to what's going on? Thanks

I guess good thing that my package got miss sorted. Took extra time to see how to understand it and the little bulge on the door panel outer the window mirror control panel took it all apart and used a screwdriver to shove in monkey glue and there and used to crimps and a free paint stir from walmart. Let it set up overnight and we'll see what happens. That monkey glue really expands. We'll have to cut some out. 2001 that stuff starts to get brittle.

I lost the smalls springs, do you know where I could find some replacements?

Do you happen to know where is the Control Unit, L Power Window

It appears to me that a replacement regulator must come already positioned at the access holes in the door. The replacement I have is not positioned there and I cannot slide it to change that. Yours was already at the correct position. Is it a bad replacement or is there some way to move it or is there something I am clueless about? Seems that if the window bracket were able to slide, it would be falling down all the time.

Is this similar to a 99 cl 2.3?

Hi, Helping sons girl friend. Her 2000 TL's window goes down an inch or so when she hits a bump. She's able to push it back up but then it goes down again. Does this sound like a bad regulator? thanks
