same so look at the window frame and remove the catch/nest (2 screws in the window frame that hold that plastic 90 degree plastic corner thing) and the window lock handle will lock but maybe do not push it fully down, so the seal is closed but it wont get stuck again. However, you will need to watch a video on how to replace the broken inside mechanism. At least i can open my widow now (its a fire escape one) i have 3 more to do!
In addition to removing the plastic 90degree corner things that enclose the mushroom roller cam bulb shut I can move my handle to shut the window and have it engaged slightly open or fully open. Closed and sealed. It takes a push to open but not heavy to as cause any damage. Then I have to close mushrooms on the frame, push those back into the frame by hand. Then close window and lick it. I can still lock window handle. Its better than before as it's fresh air and safer to know it is open when needed.
A part where the spindle goes into seems so have broken off and isn’t doing anything, I’ve tried this method for days and nothing seems to be working. Anything else I can do or any tips?
Take the window beads out find out on another same type window ro they where the lock points are drill it out try slide it aside then silicone the whole refit the glazing and fit the beading beck
My window is open but new handle won't turn to close . The handle broke off so I've fitted a new handle/spindle etc but once fitted it won't turn to shut it! Help
When you fit the handle it has to be in the open position the window rollers maybe in locked position so need to take handle off put the spindle in and turn to right position if this makes sense lol
It's not the easiest try pulling the rubber seal out give you a bit more room and look on another window to see which way the rollers go to release it will go some windows are just a pain lol
Take the handle off and see if the spindle has come off look in the hole you will see a square cam check that's OK if everything is OK the main mechanism might have failed
@diymadesimple3321 thank you. When the window is open the lock on bottom and top of window do move up and down when moving handle. It's only when closed it stops. Is that still due to dodgy handle?
@@mkdon101 yes this will just be the handle there's a spring inside the button that always fails screwfix sale universal window handles when you fit the new handle make sure its in the open position then all should be good
