Here's a quick video demonstrating how to install the window weatherstripping in a first gen Camaro or Firebird. The technique is likely the same in many early model muscle cars.

You actually made me laugh out loud! Yeah they are. Can’t remember where I got those but they’re great for mixing paint and bondo, scooping grease, and spreading adhesive. Thanks for commenting, and watching!

So I imagine you recommend getting new weatherstrip channels then? I have only bought the seals….thanks for the video. About to do this to my 68 Firebird. ❤

I don’t think you need new ones unless yours are in bad shape. You can’t really see them once they’re installed and the weatherstripping is in them. You can buy new blowout clips if you need them. Just drill out the old ones and buy an inexpensive rivet gun on Amazon or from your local hardware store and put the new ones in.

@@FASTCarsLive Thanks for the response. Like all things car, I will find out when I get in there. Lol I hope they are good…the channel kit is $250. I just made a hefty summit order this week. Lol

@@charlieann82 yup, I’m right there with you. I’m three and a half years into my ‘68 Camaro. Everything except the front and back windows and deck lid came off mine.

I find that it is easier to work in 10-12” sections rather than cementing the whole weatherstrip and risking it falling or touching other parts of the car. Good vid though.

I’ll give that a try next time. Thanks for watching.

How thick is the foam with the peal back stick on one side? Also where did you get the flat pan head screw, and do you have a size spec?
@FASTCarsLive
@FASTCarsLive 7 дней назад
That foam is about 1/8” if I remember correctly. I used the original screws that came out of that channel but my guess is you could use any pan head screw that’s 1/2” or so long. I think most of the Camaro places carry them. Hope that helps.

@@FASTCarsLive I haven’t found pan heads that are are flat like that with that small of the screw part, but I’ll keep looking. Just cleaning up the door mechanisms for now. Thanks

How do you install the weatherstrip new between the door glass and quarter glass?
@FASTCarsLive
@FASTCarsLive 2 года назад
There’s a phillips screw on the bottom. Just remove that and slide the old one off. The new one will slide back on the same way, then put the screw back in. Super easy but I would recommend getting some weatherstrip lube or at least some soapy water to help it slide easier.

I would need more details to try to help. Was it making noise before you changed the weatherstrip? Did you change anything else, like the weatherstrip channel? Where is the wind noise coming from? Can you send me a video? You can find contact info by going to our Instagram, click on the link to our website in our profile, then click on “contact”.
