System Restore within Windows 7
System restore in Windows 7 is a great tool for helping you get back from all kinds of problems you maybe having with your computer.
Maybe you have installed some kind of software that has made your computer act strangely or a Windows update has had a bad effect on your pc.
Windows system restore is also a great safety net when you know you are about to make changes on your computer.
Before you alter or install that software creating a system restore point gives you somewhere to go back to if you are not happy with the results.
I'll now show you how to roll back to an earlier system restore point if you are using Windows 7.

I've been hearing a lot of complaints in the comment section about him explaining things too slow, I just bumped it up to x1.25 speed and I found it to be a perfect pace

your system settings and registry, etc, would go back to where it was before, but the slender directory and files would still exist on your hard drive, I believe. You'd have to delete those manually if you want to reclaim the harddrive space, but that's not hard to do. It's usually under "program files". You should use the "add/remove programs" option in windows if you want to uninstall something, since it's cleaner, unless it messed up your system. I don't think slender has an install, btw

Hey, for some reason everytime I try to restore my pc it says it is restoring and when it restarts, it always says "system restore was unsuccessful". Please help!! :(

ok for people who dont wanna lose vids..etc after resoter point, go to start and search for restore and backup, then create a back on an external hard drive using that porgram, then u do a restore point and open backup program again and restore ur backed up files from ur external drive.

Start > Right Click Computer > Properties > System Protection > System Restore. Did that take 6 minutes?

@rickskater Thanks mate, It's always worth a go using system restore but you would still be better off using the usual removal methods such as virus and malware removal software.

@OnlyTheBestRemixes Do you see any restore points to roll back to? Also try right clicking on system restore in the system tools folder (Start - All programs - Accessories - System Tools) and selecting "Run As Administrator" it maybe that you are running User Account Control and that is what is stopping you. I don't run UAC on the pc that I did this video on. Hope this helps.

@VibrayteZ Hi I would say without looking at your computer the fact you are not using any anti-virus points to some kind of malware infection which is stopping you running system restore. Try running something like Malwarebytes and superantispyware's online scanner over your system and see what that finds, then try the restore again.

Thanks for your responded. I never use antivirus or internet security program coz I feel like those program just made my computer go slower. Whenever I catch viruses. I either reinstall window or use system restore. Ive used system restore a many times right after I got a viruses and it work out for me. System restore made my system feel fresh again. Alot of people said the viruses or Trojan are still hidden in the system. Until today still an unknown answer for me.

In the end, you're like "just click next and it will go back". So, if I click next, I don't need to do anything, it will just do it all on its own? I need to restore my computer to get some important files back, but I've never tried it before - I'm afraid to fuck it up D:

Whenever i do this why my system shuts down and open something called "Intel corporation etc etc" and then it ends and nothing happens. When i open my pc again it just shows "system restore system didnt completed succefully" like what should i do now???

If you have a security suite installed (and in operation)... you might have to boot first in 'safe mode' due to conflicts with the system.

so basiclly you just want to click system restore right? to get your window 7 pc to restore eveything and get your computer back to the same when you got it. like my internet and stuff will still be there, but all my other stuff like the background and stuff will be gone right?

Hey, quick question of you- I think I caught a virus yesterday morning. My computer is running fine, but I did a "Norton Power Eraser" scan & it said it found something, then when it tried removing it, it said "Remove was unsuccessful", I think it may be a Stealth Virus. Right before I got this virus, I organized A LOT of files, moved them around. If I would restore my computer back to a week ago, will my files still be organized or will they be in the location where they were at a week ago? Thx

you cannot. if u dont have u cant.. just reinstall your pc.. most normal w7 computers got the code that let u install windows again and then u just need a disc with windows on.. then let pc reinstall windows.. 2-5 hours i think :P

@watchmeout30 You only lose whatever programs you have installed after the point you restored back to. If the restore point you choose is at a point after you installed your Office Pack, it will be unaffected.

I got a virus and it deleted everything on my desktop, and my taskbar, I have nothing on the desktop, i cannot right click on it or anything, when I turn my laptop on and choose the account it automatically pops the Control panel up. I do not understand what you meant to "Create a restore point."

I have some issues telling me I have to update my windows 7 security. I tried going to system restore only to have my computer telling me that windows 7 is unable to comply because said system has been deleted/removed etc. I tried doing a system restore via my guest account only to realize i wasted my time. Hi! i have a problems about system restore points. After i updated from vista to 7, i realized that i couldn't play any online games anymore, every time i opened the game it always shows something something fail, so i found out that i could use system restore to go bak to vista but here is another problem came up, i don't have previous restore point, so i create one but no matter how many points i created, it never success, could you help me to solve this problem??

I have emachines Desktop ET1161-07. Started getting a "popup" for lack of better word showing a yellow speaker, with volume and a 0 showing. Its identical of the popup showing "no signal." It doesn't look to be connected to Windows Vista (which I'm using) but a cpu message as logging off windows, its still there. It started about once a day for a minute or so; now its constant poping up and then disappearing. Am no pro as you can see. Any help most appreciated.

When i click System Restore it says "Windows cannot fin 'C:\Windows\system32 strui.exe'. Make sure you type the name correctly, and then try again." Any help? A malware removed it btw, its getting annoying and i cant even restore my computer. If you have any help please reply, thanks.

i had a virus that i got from program (a toolbar) i got from a survey to complete. i stupidly ran that thing and it installed and the survey didnt even work. then i just did my work and then everything crashed and things started deleting, up to the point control panel was deleted from my system. i hard rebooted my computer into safemode and ran system restore. i got all my things back, and even all the programs that the virus deleted. this is the life saving tool for a windows pc.

How to restore from unmountable boot. error-to disk read error. Only able to use bios or manufacturers etc. That would be challenging for you and maybe solve my/others problems! How to save your laptop from paperweight syndrome.
