Windows Flaw Lets Hackers Access Your PC Over Wi-Fi
Microsoft says that a hacker can exploit this vulnerability by just being close to the target PC and sending a "malicious networking packet," the scary part is, no authentication is required.

As a former Windows user who go fed up with Microsoft and switched to Linux 2 years ago, this comes as no surprise whatsoever.

There have been Wi-Fi vulnerabilities discovered in Linux systems. One notable vulnerability is the KRACK (Key Reinstallation Attack), which affects all modern protected Wi-Fi networks. This vulnerability allows attackers within range of a victim to exploit weaknesses in the WPA2 protocol, potentially decrypting traffic and injecting malicious data. Additionally, a critical Wi-Fi vulnerability was found in the rtlwifi driver, which mainly supports Realtek Wi-Fi chips used in Linux devices. This vulnerability could allow attackers to compromise the system with the help of nearby Wi-Fi devices. Looks like you've jumped out of the pan, into the Fire. 😅

@@SpaceCadet4Jesus It is rather bold of you to say "Looks like you've jumped out of the pan, into the Fire" when you have no idea of my specific Linux implementation. First of all, the KRACK bug was corrected and patched seven years ago back in 2017. Second, my Wi-Fi chip is the Intel Wi-Fi 6E AX211, not Realtek so I am unaffected by the bug you mentioned. Third, my network uses WPA2 Enterprise with RADIUS servers. And lastly, with a handle like SpaceCadet4Jesus, it is not very Christian of you to add a laughing emoticon to take a jab at someone. I prefer to teach and help, rather than pick at people. Have a wonderful day.

@@PeterHonig. I'm a bold kind of fella, there. And are you the judge of what it is to be a Christian ( it is nothing to do with laughing Emojis) ? I don't think so sir. You weren't teaching and helping anyone with your comment, but fed up with your obvious problems with a Microsoft product that you couldn't solve. It was no surprise whatsoever to you that the messaging queue in the Windows networking interface has a theoretical issue. No one has the code for the exploit nor has anyone broken into it over that exploit. If you read the CVE on the issue, it states that you have to be connected physically or logically, via wi-fi, in order to begin to take advantage of it. There wasn't even a demonstration of abuse. If you look closely at the CVE it will reveal to you that this is a theoretical security issue. And yet Microsoft has still addressed it. Have a wonderful day.

@GHOSTSTARSCREAM You seem to major in the polar ends of interpretation. Is the world only black and white to you. Truth and lies only? You said "always lies" which turned into "most of the time they always lie". That refreshed statement doesn't make sense. No where did I say or intend to say that "everyone can tell a what is and what isnt". You made the first mention of that. Maybe you'll accept some definitions here; - Marketing: Definition: Marketing involves identifying, predicting, and meeting customer needs. Purpose: It prepares a product for the marketplace. Scope: It encompasses a range of activities to sell a product or service. - Advertising: Definition: Advertising is the promotion of a company and its products or services through paid channels. Role: It’s a step in the marketing process. Unique Aspect: It’s a non-personal, persuasive message by an identified sponsor. Purpose: Creates awareness, generates leads, and drives sales. Marketing and advertising are related but distinct business practices. I think you were talking about advertising, not Marketing?

@@SpaceCadet4Jesus Indeed you are correct, 90% of all the vulnerable systems are linux, as we all use linux for basic infrastructure, but. the fact is that to be able to exploit a linux device is way harder as there are a high number of flavors, variations, builds, different kernels etc, there is not a single exploit that could work in all the linux mchines. @@RicardoAlonso_Art Here's a Linux kernel vulnerability that spans all flavors and distributions. CVE-2024-1086. It's a critical security bug that allows for privilege escalation on affected systems. This vulnerability is due to a use-after-free error in the `nf_tables` component of the Linux kernel, which is part of the Netfilter framework. I think we can go back and forth over each operating systems vulnerabilities. Windows, as you know, has a much greater desktop market share with a much more vulnerable population susceptible to social engineering tricks. The easiest money lies not in exploiting rare and difficult OS vulnerabilities remotely but rather in seducing the users to cough up the cash through social engineering. The next easiest money lies in old or unpatched systems. In my observation, the weak points in the chain isn't the increasingly sophisticated computers, it's the users.
