i enjoy a lot of music, from jazz to death metal, but when i discovered win96 last year it kinda became my go-to chill soundtrack running on repeat.. thx for your great style!
Yeah, these alternative genres like vaporwave and lo-fi hip-hop use a lot of jazz samples, which is good. I'm a big fan of smooth jazz and jazz noir, too, other than vaporwave and lo-fi hip-hop.
I'm 40 and I can say that this is the first Album I've listened to in which I loved every song. Every single one. Your compositions are truly one of a kind.
I just sent my last homework from school while listening to this wonderful album. Without a doubt, it's a very good day to be alive. Thank you, Gavriel ♡
@Axel Núñez De igual manera es una sorpresa para mí y gracias por tu comentario jaja En realidad todo lo que publico es para tareas asignadas, si te lo preguntas al final tuve una muy buena nota
I've been suggesting Windows96 albums to be played in various classes at school where the teachers take music suggestions. I've gotten my Graphics Design and Art teachers both into this music, hell yes.
This album has only been out for one year but it feels timeless. I wish I could listen to it for the first time again, but it's still just as good on every replay. It makes me feel like I'm flying above the landscape, or taking a long ass road trip, from the Appalachians to the Rockies and up to the Canadian taiga...
Windows96 continues to surpass all expectations and boundaries of sound, when I first found them in 2017-18 I was like wow, this is pretty original vaporwave, but it is just so much more. Enchanted Instrumentals and Whispers was one of the best albums of 2019 and this is no less impressive. Much Love!
Fun fact, due to an error at a certain German vinyl shipping company, I've gotten my vinyl of this a bit early and have already been enjoying it for the past weeks. Another great album by Gabriel, thank you man! *It's the Windows96 sound all the way*
Windows96 achieved an 8bit nintendo 90s sound, so I don't have to play the games, but can experience those compositions and tales over and over. Looking at the impact this vibe had in the last 5 years, I think it should have an spiritual category. I sense a mixture between western platonism and asian daoism. Some sense of clarity and flow.
God, this is just... SOOO GOOD. Flows real smooth, tells a grand, epic story, sounds amazing throughout. Love the SquareSoft harp and choir patches, and the implications of the wind-like instrument on Orpheus later showing up in Paraiso (literally paradise) and finally on Mytikas. Speaking of Orpheus, that is definitely where this album gets REALLY good. Like, exceptionally so. I already liked Discovery's clarinet/oboe parts, but Orpheus REALLY blew me away. That... breakdown... definitely gets the whole character across. I know the word "orphan" refers to Orpheus, but I haven't heard the story. Obviously, though, it's a tragedy. This track really shines because it tastefully communicates that level of heartache. It HURTS... just as it should. It's a good pain, because you know it's only fair. Expect is really nice, but more in the rhythm category than anything else. The augmented square is nice, but it's the beat that really sells it. Not Anymore... so clever. The questions asked by the vocals are difficult to make out, but I keep hearing them. Fragments really breaks the whole album down into scattered bits and pieces and just goes completely unexpected places after the opening D major and D sus4 major chords end and the beat drops. Then we have Skysail... the sweet, SWEET Skysail. Love it, love it, LOVE IT! Just... everything about it is so good, I can hardly find the words to describe it. Up next is Neblina, and someone already left an amusing comment about the "robotic underwater cats". Then there's Paraiso. Paradise. Lovely. The vocals are definitely a nice touch, even though I cannot hear any words in them. Geometery is definitely a real pick-me-up, leading me to like the comment about its xylophone part (love the vibraphone as well). Then... Peninsula. That synth-brass fanfare just speaks for itself. The somber, reverent mood of it becomes a celebration of life. Finally, we have Mytikas... most certainly implying a hopeful outlook of some sort, creating almost the same vibe as Looking Forward, which is a brilliant opening track. Keep up the good work, dude!
Thank you Windows96 for releasing soothing music. I've been a fan of your albums. I've been using your music for studying, making art and easing stress.
I started streaming this on Tidal the MOMENT it got released because I HAD to listen to this as a HUGE fan of Windows 96. The dude doesn't disappoint me, and he still delivers! This sounds like a culmination he learned from Plume Valley, One Hundred Mornings, Enchanted Instrumentals and Whispers (my favourite album EVER) and Glass Prism and refined those soothing sounds. I can LITERALLY hear the leitmotives from those albums, recontextualised into something greater. This album is a solid 10/10, keep up the good work, Gab! I love your music, man! Greetings from Hungary!
This dropped literally just in time for my next D&D campaign. I used a lot of songs from 100 Mornings as ambience for my last campaign and it was spectacular. I love all of this
Some of your albums feel like a continuation of the last one, it's amazing how you manage to keep the same feel but also make it feel different. sick stuff man.
I'm always sad to hear the last track. It's like seeing the ending of a really good movie, or your friends leaving after a good night of partying. The good times are coming to an end, for now, but they'll be back. Some of my favorite closing tracks (in absolutely no particular order): Lead See You Mind Mirage Mist Landscaping Facts Hyn
Your tracks have been backdrops to many moments in my life, both happy and sad. And this album really resonates with the moment I am right now. Thank you.
This music makes me feel home sick in my soul for something not on this planet or realm. Like the places i would imagine up watching movies like the never ending story
Listen ok this is the first time I've been able to have the full experience of looking forward to an album release and then actually loving it. Other artists I stumble upon either are inactive or they manage to deviate from their style to fit what sells better RIGHT AS I find them. So this, makes me really happy.
Ouço suas musicas para trabalhar, fazer almoço, limpar a casa. Elas simplesmente me prendem num universo que eu gostaria de viver, esse tipo de coisa. É muito bom
Love this album, dude! Saw you dropped it, went home from work, bought it off of iTunes without prior listening on RU-vid (I have that much faith in you making good music), burned it to a blank CD, and listened to it with my fiancé while we were decorating for Christmas. Every track is phenomenal! Discovery is my favorite in particular. Reminds me of something off of One Hundred Mornings, my favorite album of yours.
I appreciate the immense amount of time you put into this... Only you truly know... But just know that some of us greatly consider the copious amount of time you have invested to create this art. Ps. Geometry is just on another level...
