When was slavery abolished by the modern world & be honest now.... Modern form of Humans have lived for over 200000 years now, but bitter truth is slavery was abolished only 150 years ago (for 99.9% of our current existence or more) slavery has been the norm & acceptable across the world. Slavery was formally abolished after the 13th Amendment was adopted as part of the United States Constitution in 1865 by Abraham Lincon (feel free to verify that he too ironically owned slaved before that). So every human race, region, country, ethnicity in the whole world traded slaves until very recently. There are countless literature on it as well and if you're honest - you'll find nothing but truth in it. so was the worldly norm that existed before islam was carried forward during the life of the prophet? yes, they were carried forward and wasn't illegal. In similar capacity, the norm of the world has been that males could (it's not a compulsion, but an option) to have sex with mistress/concubines/female-captives that they possess. Slaves had many rights as well that had to be fullfilled by masters. These traditions are well documented in non-islamic historical books as well - so you're more than welcome to search yourself and if you're honest - you'll see that's how the world used to roll back then, not just the Arabs, not just the muslims. It is pretty understandable that in year 2022 most of it isn't applicable nor makes any sense since humans have made so many reforms, banned slavery and new advancements. we're past slavery and I am glad that we are.
