If you have been taught these sections in another way, that's OK. As the creator of this whole branch of Wing Chun, Grandmaster Leung Ting, famously said: "The sections are only SIMPLE exercises for beginners to understand BASIC Wing Chun principles!"
Which variation of the sections you are learning is less important as long as you are learning all their lessons for posture, yielding to and using the opponent's force while using an effective footwork. What is important is intent, never training without the proper threat level from the attacker and counter-attacker, and having an intelligent method for learning the sections.
Practice them step by step, like in the video, stopping between hits. Do each part until they can be performed with full speed and intent, stopping only enough power to not hurt the co-student. He/she is letting you strike for your training benefit, it is your responsibility to respect this and only use enough force for a realistic threat without following through with damaging him/her. Only then move on to adding the next part. When Chi Sau becomes a choreography without challenging each other, it is as useless for combat as a dance.
The WT sections are a collection of quick and easy-to-learn drills for understanding the basic possibilities and requirements for Chi Sau. The drills teach principles for using sensory input from your opponent in some beneficial ways. They are NOT clever ways to attack an opponent in a fight. They are certainly not sparring, or a replacement for sparring.
In the 7 Chi Sau sections take techniques from all the WT forms and string them together into quick and easy-to-learn sequences that teach the very basics of Chi Sau. In each section, you are given an example on how to use an opponent's force depending on your hand positions: Your wrists can be in contact with the inside or outside of the opponent's wrists. You can have one on the inside and one on the outside, or both on either side. The start positions change which technique are most easily used for defending and counter attacking.
The quicker you understand and learn these sections, and (most importantly) move beyond them all, the faster you will master Chi Sau and acquire your own understanding of it. While these sections are great at exploring the techniques of the Wing Chun forms and how they apply in Chi Sau, they may be a bit outdated. There are now other tools that rapidly teach effective Chi Sau technique that also applies to other disciplines like self-defense, MMA and Escrima.

Another like from Hungary. Deeply explained. I'm not sure RU-vid deserves it.

Thanks sooooooooo much for this great video and explenation did TODAY my 2nd time 1st Section and noticed, everything, that can went wrong WENTS wrong. XD but this expl. cheers me to focus hard on training without getting hard. The very horrible thing on WT is: Shoulders are hard and messed up like hell, cause of reallifestupidity. So learn to be soft in shoulders, means to be getting better in Chi-Sau...

Hi, I'm doing GM Leung Ting Wing Tsun in Hungary and this is exactly the same and perfect demostration of chi sao 1st section. Can you make a video of the whole section that is required for level 9th examination?
@WingTsunSweden
@WingTsunSweden 10 лет назад
Hi! Thanks for your comment! We tend to teach that part by slightly different methods and not as part of the sections. But we can make an exception for you, since so many people have asked for it. But it will have to wait a bit! :)

Isn't there a lot more in the first section? When we train the frist section, it is about 3-4 times longer than the part you showed here (although that part is exactly the same that we start with as well)
@Al-pr6um

look for "part 2" in their video list. They go through at least two different variations of the final movements in the first section, I believe.

so if i dont wrong chi sau is for cordinating ME movement? and tactiks? and 1 for me IMPORTANT question are is posible to training alone with wooden doomy?
@tvmountcharlotte
@tvmountcharlotte 6 лет назад
Chi sau builds sensitivity and softness and trains natural movement without premeditated thought or strength. These chi sau sets are like dance moves done by 2 partners to train techniques from the forms and increase softness and sensitivity. We use the wooden dummy for certain drills but the wooden dummy has its own form and chi sau applications that are better absorbed after learning the prior form and their related chi sau sets. My Wing Tsun has been a deep journey into internal/external power, sensitivity training, chi sau sets, softness, and learning how to deal with forces stronger than yours versus fighting with strength. It’s ok if you’re stronger than your opponent, but you may not always be or you may tire quicker.

hi, what is the 2 Section?, because I learned the 1 Section from Leung Ting System, and it was much longer than yours.

Ditto. We have about 7-8 steps in our 1st section. Bong da, jut cycle, inside/outside pak, shopping cart, low palm attack, etc...

2 things. 1st: I don't know if they (rogue masters and practicioners) deserve it or not. But I definitely heard that secrets are to be kept. That also means you did a thorough work. 2nd: I would keep the lan sau raised at shoulder hight or a bit higher.

Really stiff - just like DWTO old style =) Maybe that is just to show the different movements, but still, you should have a good flowing part in the end.

The first movement you show will get you elbowed. Leung Ting himself said never do that pulling movement. The first move uses forward pressure during the whole thing. You must have learned that from Emen Bozetepe. I saw him teaching it that way and Sifu Leung Ting said it is wrong.
@Dan53196
@Dan53196 5 месяцев назад
I learned Boztepe system and you do not pull the opponent like that when you do this drill. You do the pull with one arm and tan sao with the other but it only looks like a pull. You actually give forward pressure and lock the partners shoulder into the socket, slide the arm and pak sao the chest. If he does not give up his force and tries to give you a bent elbow instead of a straight arm, you simply roll over his arm with your elbow.
@Dan53196

Also in this video, Leung Ting uses the pull…ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Z4d_wtlzP6A.htmlsi=v2oD3RSGy4B7ClbY

@Dan53196 Not the same move. Notice that sifu doesn't use an advancing step. He uses a turn stance. There is absolutely no pulling in that first move... none.

Maan hält dabei die Arme des Gener nicht fest das macht keinen Sinn da es im Ernsten Kampf nie zu so einer Situation kommt. Es ist nur dafür da die Arme zu sensibilisieren.

the CHI SAO is not fluid but jerky. it is not correct to do so. JUT SAO and punch there must be a tut sao., do not pass on the side.
