Say what you will about Linda's keyboard chops. The fact that she played the intro to Venus and Mars straight off the bat during the opening of every concert on this tour, live in front of tens of thousands of people, speaks volumes about how capable and confident she was. Trust me, as a musician, that's terrifying. And she never faltered. Paul certainly must have been extremely proud of her.
She was so cool..I love her..and. Yes..I agree..she was a Natural..in every way..God bless her Soul..Thank You for your noticing..SAME HERE!! No wonder Paul. was so proud of her..R.I.P. Beautiful Linda...
People can say what they want, she was in one of the greatest bands of all time. What band did those critics ever play in? She isn't the greatest keyboarder or singer of all time but overall she did great!!! RIP Linda
Paul is turning 80 tomorrow, and we've already begun to celebrate it. Paul is one of my all time favorites, and I didn't even live in 60s-70s. I began to listen to the Beatles in 90s. Paul always symbolized good old stuff to me, something that was long long ago, something I missed out, something really good. But I'm so glad I can feel it thanks to his music. The music made by a happy man!
I was there. Form 2 from Balwyn High. Just sat there mesmorised for the first 30 minutes trying to come to terms that I was at a Paul McCartney concert. Life could not have got any better.
The guitar solo to Maybe I'm Amazed is absolutely brilliant. Wee Jimmy plays it in concert, but Paul played it on the record. The amp is on the edge of feeding back. The tubes are red hot. You can hear it. Paul's solo on this track rivals the playing of Hendrix, Page, Beck, Clapton... or George Harrison. Brilliant solo. Absolutely brilliant. So concise. Paul is a phenomenal guitar player. And bass player. And piano player. And vocalist. And songwriter. And performer. What a truly remarkable man. It's astonishing. What a gift to humanity he is. Thanks, Macca! You've brought me so much joy. You've brought millions of us so much joy. And you're music will continue to do so for centuries. Know that.
It is nonetheless true that the Wings lead guitarists performed that magnificent solo far better than Paul did on his solo album. For my money, the definitive version of Maybe I'm Amazed is the one that that appeared on the Wings Over America triple LP. (I had the privilege and pleasure of seeing the UK leg of that world tour.) I also saw the final leg of the last tour that Wings ever played in which, to my enormous dismay, Steve broke a guitar within a few seconds of embarking on that classic solo! He did make a credible recovery but I really wanted to hear the solo performance rendered by a proper guitarist who could really do it justice.
Remembering the buzz around the halls in high school during the Wings Over Anerica tour weeks even before the show- this was the height of the "do you think the Beatles will get back together?" era- and how good the PM & Wings t-shirts looked on the girls weeks after....
I went to this concert at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl in 1975. Queued for tickets after the Status Quo concert for 2 days. They were $7.50 each. There were 25000 people there and it was awesome. I have been a Beatle fan since 1963 and have all their Australian singles Ep's and albums. As well as the boxed sets and CD's. Their music will live forever. Especially Paul's.

Just heard the live version of 'Maybe I'm Amazed' on the radio, and as soon as I heard the guitar solo, I knew it was Jimmy McCulloch. When the song ended, the DJ said it was from 1977. Jimmy's sound and style were so unique, I knew it could have only been him. He lives on in his guitar solos.....
The very best live performance from McCartney outside of the fab4 was with this Wings lineup. The music at the time was fresh the energy was strong and with Joe English Jimmy McCullough Denny Laine and Linda adding to Paul at his solo peak they were unstoppable. Thanks for sharing the full show 😂 ❤😂
I have said it before, This was by FAR the best lineup Paul every played with, yes his band now is Awesome, but youth and Jimmy McCullough made such a big difference.
Paul did a great job reinventing himself after his previous band crashed and burned. I was lucky to see him in NYC in 76 and it was a high point of my concert-going career. Paul on top of his game. Thanks for posting this.
Yeah. He tries and he is solid. Linda was his soulmate, and respect that! Yet he has enough love to keep trying and succeeding. A positive lesson, in my mind,!!
jus goes 2 show us how talented he is, he didn't quit, he had so many great songs, yes great songs, so much entertainment for us growing up before the internet, this is awesome tho, any song at my finger tips!!
I got to see Wings for the only time on the next to the last show, back home in Los Angeles. It will be a night that i will never forget. The first of 4 times seeing him between 76 to 2002. I miss those fun days
Damn they were hot on fire on this night!!! For all the "pop" that Paul is credited for making and being, he could really rock. Always loved the thick punch of that Ricky too, man I'm gonna have to crank this concert up on my theater system now!!!
he was a gifted child of his time , wow what a muso , the man could play most instruments and to a great level , had the big picture in a song , and it shows in this , he was the modern Mozart , thanks for the post , enjoyed it all .
Actually Paul Macca is the re-incarnation of Beethoven - John Lennon revealed it posthumously in a book channeled from Heaven... He had incarnated as Franz Schubert, then, he claimed too
I saw Paul McCartney live in Philadelphia Pa. about 10 years ago and he might be the only artist who puts on a incredible show and covers a lot of music. When the show ended I heard a lot of people say that it was a great concert but the only problem is that he didn't play[put any song that you love by Paul and Wing's in their] and every body felt like he should have played any number of songs. He is a rare artist in the fact that his catalog is so enormous that he could play for a whole week and still not cover all of his music.I for one would have liked to hear more from the Wing's era. Also he puts on such a long show that it's impossible to have a opening act. Love you Paul you gave a lot of people the sound track that ! they grew up on and what a journey it's been!!! Greetings from Atlantic City New Jersey U S A!
The thought of McCartney ever having an opening act in and of itself, is hysterical.. "he puts on such a long show that it's impossible to have a opening act" Are you kidding me?
GREAT classic Paul Mccartney at his very best and oh natural.... wonderful wings tour and this is a rarity for sure. Thanks for posting this, i think all the new fans and old should get a chance to see what a real concert is all about. This was a period when a Beatles reunion was very possible and came close to happening ( on saturday night live anyway). Think it was John who got lost on his way to the show, cant remember now. Anyway, jimmy was incredible on guitar, as was the rest of the band and Paul..... well, what can be said for the greatest songwriter/performer of all time. would have been great to see John back on stage one more time of course just to see what stage presence he still had and trust me, he still had it. Thanks again Pauly.
+Randi Brooks John Lennon was the "other" greatest singer songwriter of all time. Second only to Paul McCartney. There I fixed that statement for you...................................... You're welcome! (smile)
@@pianomansbird4095 well, no, in 1976. You really didn't have a way to film it. I suppose super 8 film. We didn't have that. Watch rock show. That is exactly the kick ass show I saw at capital centre.
Denny & Billy go way back to the 60's when they worked together in the band The Diplomats. EMI Records still has under lock and key a complete unreleased studio album by the band, but it will probably never see the light of day for reasons of national security.

Sadly, missed out on ticket for the UK leg of this Jimmy and Joe tour. However saw original line up in 1973 and then the last line up in 1979. Great band. Power failure in 1973 during set meant Henry led the crowd in Irish jig! Price if ticket in 1973 was £2.50 and encore was Long Tall Sally.
I love the band all in close on that compact stage--somewhere in between a club and an arena event--much different from today's over-the-top spectaculars. The '76 American leg wasn't much different. I sat so close to Linda I could have raised my voice a bit and carried on a conversation with her!
I was in the crowd too - very close to a large speaker rack near the top of the hill. (Surprising that I can still hear) :-). I was only 15, and it was my first concert, so I was totally blown away. Good memories.
@@njgop1915 I was 23 at that time from England working my way around Australia , in Melbourne waiting on tables, not that night , I was there , now all those years later I live in Cairns
Gave 110 percent, high energy throughout including guitar laced performance. Added bonus the ins and outs of sound checks. Added. up close and personal.Thank you for sharing
Pity this version does not include the credits. I worked on this show, and the video you see was a compilation of film material shot at all concerts in Australia, and two of the Melbourne concerts shot with television cameras. I was fortunate enough to spend 20 minutes with Paul in our recording van.
Foi a melhor formção desta Banda. Jimmy era esperacular e é difícil imaginar o quanto ele teria crescido musicalmente se tivesse continuado nesta vida. Talento único e com personalidade. Joe English foi o melhor baterista de toda carreira da banda.
Sydney Myer Music Bowl,November 1975.Shot by ATV 0 Melbourne using RCA TK45 Camera's and TKP45 portable camera. Just a fantastic concert so pleased to have worked on it.
God you know i and my family have some family members in autralia but i never meet them...i just remember my grandfather talking to his brother out there when i was growing up and they would call each other all the time...protect them always..i remember the 1960s and 1970s my grandpa pavel. Cmr cmp
I love that you can see Linda with her long pretty fingers playing the keyboard and even adding a little rubato on Jet...also I find it a little interesting that Wings had a drummer named Joe English seen here and a drummer named Jeff Britain ..seems they had a theme going...all that fame and adulation unusually ended up producing a man with humility and all my respect to Linda who was also a very humble human being
Hi Paul, love your body of work. I was 8 years old in 1964. I have been to 5 of your concerts beginning in 2002. As an engineer, I even inspected the building (the former Congress Inn) that the Beatles stayed in when you played City Park Stadium in New Orleans during the 1964-66 tour. I visited Liverpool in 2017 and loved it. The Beatles put Liverpool on the world map. Please keep making the beautiful music that you do and please keep performing. Love you brother!
Joe English on drums. Superb unique style of playing. Where he sets the small pauses while playing is equally important to the fills he does. Just brilliant.
