I'm still making my mind up on what I prefer. I definitely share your concerns over the impact nectar has on the game. For now though I'm just enjoying exploring the new birds and new strategy options that OE brings!

The way it works out is that Kiwi first is better if the third best card it sees is better than the best card in the discard pile (after discarding to activate Kiwi). Otherwise both orders are normally the same. Since it was guaranteed that there would be an 8 point card in the discard pile if Kiwi was played first, unless Kiwi revealed three different bonus cards all worth more than 8 points, Kiwi first wasn't going to be better. On the other hand, because the deck ran out of bonus cards, I believe the discard pile was shuffled back into the deck (not certain this is how the rules work, but it makes sense), and if that's the case the timing may work out such that the card discarded to activate Kiwi would be shuffled back into the deck, thus sabotaging the Wrybill. So if that's the case, Wrybill first would be better. And that would be the only edge case where it was possible for Wrybill first to be better, assuming no other effects/timing were involved.
