The Operator fixed blade is the product of Daniel Winkler's knifemaking skills and the field experience of veteran Kevin Holland, a Navy SEAL and Army SOF Operator. It has been designed to be the perfect knife. It has a tapered tang and a 4" flat ground blade with a distal taper and slight swedge at the tip. Designed for quick action and deep penetration, the knife comes with a black leather sheath that can be worn horizontally or vertically.
Daniel Winkler has been making knives full time since 1988 and has more recently started the Winkler Knives II product line after working with the Special Forces Teams in the United States Military and Allied Forces from around the world. The knives and axes in the WKII Collection are all custom made in his shop. The WKII product line are created through the stock removal process instead of being hand forged. The Winker Knives II line utilizes the same standards of excellence in craftsmanship as his hand forged work and they are born of Warriors' experience.

Jeez Dudes, you all seem to be pretty much against this knife (company). I "completely" understand & respect your beliefs/reasons. However, besides the price, do you have a "legitimate" reason for disliking the product & it's quality? I mean, if, given the opportunity to use this knife, at no expense to you, would you turn it down? Please don't hate the men or they're product, just because of the price. Mr. Winkler is a WELL respected knife maker. Mr. Holland is a VERY well respected member of, two, Special Mission Units (SMU). I believe they know what they are doing/designing. Granted, the SMU's do not have to, personally, buy the knives themselves. But, because of such, they have the ability to purchase the best knife out there... Hence, the choose Winkler.

Don't bash on a knife till you get it in your hand, I own two Winkler blades, the Spike belt knife, and the Combat axe. Each is extremely balanced, and actually lighter then most knifes with the same dimensions, showing the true master blade smith's talents. Oh and these are technically semi production as they make enough Mk. II models so they can lower the price and make their blades more readily available to operators around the world.

***** I was, 11C in the U.S. Army with 1st Infantry Division 1/4 Cavalry regiment, served in Iraq. I served with 1st Cavalry Division 4th Brigade, 2/12 Cavalry regiment out of Ft. Bliss as well so you pretty much nailed it on the head. I still train people in self defense and CQC, but now I'm retired.

***** trust me I had a lot of friends that would have joined up with me if they could have passed their physicals. As to your question, point man has only one job, check to and clear left corner and straight ahead of him, the second checks behind the door, so right corner then ahead as well clearing all targets. If the second is engaging the corner behind the door, then the third man has to still clear to the left and follow the first, fourth man in will assist the second if their is something he is actively engaging.. These can all change though depending on the size of the room or if the main door is a hallway leading to other rooms. Hope that helps, I cleared over hundreds of houses and each one is different in some way so you always have to adapt with your environment and what targets you are trying to engage. To get a better idea, watch some videos on proper house clearance protocols used by all active military and swat units. Also it isn't always just a 4 man team. Sometimes you are working with 6 man teams with Spec Ops and another 6 man team coming in from the rear of the domicile, or even coming in from the top. Hope this information helps you out.

which Winkler blades? Would you rate Winkler over RMJ? Any recommendation for a survival/tactical do it all knife under 1000 Dollar? Any book recommendation - "how to survive torture" (mental training, believes, hygiene, wound care, interaction with enemy...) and "how to survive in an urban environment" if this enviroment is no friendly - where can you sleep, get food, medical help and so on.

This is an odd one to me. I agree with the one comment that it looks like a bird and trout knife. Is it meant to be concealable? The sheath kind of makes a mockery of that. This one really calls for a slim kydex sheath, mounted horizontally on the belt, IMO.

No, not, for concealment.

Beautiful knife, I can see Winklers designs being grails to people. If he designed a dagger I would start saving up immediately!

It's weird to me nothing about these knives screams special operations or knife to kill when I think of a special operators knife I think of the old SAS knives the British used back in world war II that literally looks like a dagger it's a plunging and slashing knife it's a combat knife this just looks like a kitchen knife I could literally go into my kitchen and pull out a knife that almost looks the exact same. I know the steel might be different but to me there's nothing special about these knives except for the fact that he made the axes and bladed tools for The last of the Mohicans that's the only reason why I would buy one of these knives because that's probably one of my most favorite movies. And I would get the axe not the knife. I don't know I really can't speak about combat knives because I have never been in the knife fight anybody who's been in a knife fight let me know if this is a good knife LOL.

Been in a few scrapes and I've trained under Ed Calderon and different Libre fighting instructors- this is the ideal design for a fighting knife. Fairbairn-Sykes daggers are also obviously very effective but to big to conceal and they are too much of a signature.
@UARAF16

imo, it seems too thick of stock for the design. Beautiful design though.

That is not a 350 dollar blade. The SHPOS by Half Face Blades is worth the $275 but this thing is just boring.

$350??? heck no, for a small boring looking custom knife, there are way better tactical fixed blade customs out there for a better price and its small so what are you even paying for?
@tailormade81582
@tailormade81582 9 лет назад
You are paying for a combat proven knife used by tier one operators. Read No Easy Day by M. Owen. If the guys who can have anything and stake their lives on such gear choose it, I'd venture to say there is a reason. Just saying.
@jaybladeart88
@jaybladeart88 9 лет назад
4thWardWeebie there are a lot of combat proven knives out there made for the small materials, and are larger that cost half of this, I dont see many uses for this knife that a ka-bar couldn't do better, personally it seems like your paying $125 for the knife and $225 for the brand name
@tailormade81582
@tailormade81582 9 лет назад
jordan johnson I'll give that the blades you described may be very similar in size and material, but I would venture to say that the Winkler is a few notches above the rest when it comes to quality and dependability. While a guy like me will likely never need those extra few "notches" of quality and dependability, there are people that do and they are willing to pay a premium for it. Anyway, if you disagree with me again, I will be forced to thrash you. Ya dig...
@jaybladeart88
@jaybladeart88 9 лет назад
4thWardWeebie no need to thrash me brother, i know there are people that are willing to buy the knife for that price just like there's guys who buy $2500 AR's when a $1200 AR is just the same thing only less flashy, but this knife doesn't have that flash to it, as like a second kind of cool

knife is priced to high for the rep this company has. Not saying bad rep, just saying there name isnt out there like KaBar,Mora,ect. Cant be a company like that and charge $350 a knife. Thats like if I were to start selling mine and price them at that. Theyll prolly be on very few sales here in the future. BTW, I LOVE the knife, but 150-200 is where it should be
@allaspects1749
@allaspects1749 9 лет назад
Anthony Visconte Are you a multi award winning accredited master blade smith like Daniel Winkler? Do you collaborate with tier 1 SOF operators to make functional edged tools? These knives are hand made not mass produced on a production line. Buy one of these and your great grand kids kids will be using it. Winkler knives are about quality not quantity hence the higher price tag.
@no1up
@no1up 6 лет назад
I would argue that once the company is as established as bench-made, the knife quality will have dropped. Look at benchmade fixed blade knifes, thin, grind marks left behind, not perfectly balanced. just to name a few things.
