Best review on RU-vid!! Gave me a great all around view and how to. I’ve been looking at this stove and a couple others. I was pretty set on this one and your review helped me make up my mind. Thanks Charles. You earned my subscription 👍
Glad I could help Dave. It has been a very good stove to me I've used it a bunch of times already. Plus I'm doing a conversion to a cap on the back of my truck for camping here in the winter. And I plan on using that stove in the inside that cap. Can't recommend it enough I hope when you get it you enjoy it as much as I have. Thanks for the subscription means a lot to me you have a great night.
@@barefootdave9081 well I've almost got that conversion done. I'm going to do a short video on it. And I'm going to do a few trips so you'll see it if you're subscribed to the channel and keep a lookout. Have a great night brother and thanks again for the subscription.
No problem Hope you sub and stick around. Sometime next month I will be reviewing a few accessories for this stove I recently got for it. Guarantee you will find it of interest if your buying one of these stoves. Thanks for your comment and views.
Great Vid! I had the danchel outdoor folding woodstove and the same thing happen to mine the side warped! So i decided to buy the Gstove and its a tank! Great review!
Despite the stove warping still works really good doesn't affect how it works at all. You're the second person to mention that gstove to me. Thanks for the comment and Views brother
Been running mine with the damper at the top not the bottom. The whole pipe heats up better and the stove draws better, smokes less from the door and cleaner at the exhaust. I never used the damper anyway, door air control is better. Removed damper completely this evening, very clean burning
Just checked (2024) and the price is $6-700 USD. They do have fireproof mats as accessories, and also an oven box that sits on top. I'd make some 1/8" cable dog bones about 18" long to tie the arrestor off with. No chance that rope guys would burn that way.
@@2fathomsdeeper first of all I would be wary of the fireproof mat. I seen several videos one from Australia comes to mind of the fireproof Matt getting hot and melting. Secondly I reviewed the oven box it's on the channel. As for the Rope guys yes I made some wire ones and I've used them and it works fine. I've also reviewed a lot of other products from the company that makes the stove that go with it. Also if you catch it on sale you don't have to pay full price and they do have pretty regular sales.
Thank you for the great review, i'm probably going to purchase this model , only thing to decide is if I go for the Large or Medium ,I've got a Pomoly Hussar Tent with the netting partition so im thinking the Large size may be a bit of overkill.
I am not familiar with that tent, after looking it up it looks smaller than my Russian bear UP Mini. The medium Winnerwell stove not only worked well in my UP Mini but when I opened up the air to much it got downright HOT over 80 F. So I think that the medium will be more than enough for your tent.
The test needs to be provided in the winter time inside of the winter tent... and show a temperature on all surfaces and inside/outside tent...Thank you in advance
@rootstriker1618 I used the nomad in a Russian bear up 2 mini that's a 3 person dome style tent. this dome tent has 2 layers of fabric and holds the heat in very well. It heated it up no problem. in fact a few times it got downright HOT 80F and I had to open windows doors ect. for its size the nomad puts out a surprising amount of heat. Now with all that said lets talk about tents. I would say you could heat a 6 person tent without issue, but. Alot of this depends on the tent construction. Some modern tents are single wall and it is a thin material that doesn't hold heat well. Others are more like the canvas wall tents that hold heat better. Or something like my Russian bear tent with multiple layers. Now with all that in mind I think knowing what kind of tent, how big it is and how well it holds the heat in plays an important roll in how big of a stove you need. Also there is alot to be said about a bigger stove for a longer burn. Hope this makes sense.
I have a Nortent Gamme 4 ( specs on their site ) I have a Winnerwell woodlander medium and a large Nomad. The woodlander is fine. I think the large of this stove might be overkill. I haven't seen the need for it in my tent and have been out in sub zero.
Its a good idea to do so. Testing your stove to see if there is any issue with it. For me testing mine convinced me to do some modifications to it. Video of that is on my channel. Thanks for the comment.
Thanks for the review. I assume 20" is the assembled width. Is that the width of the legs when they are filled out, or is that the width of the shelves when they are unfolded?
@andrewpswartz without digging it out as best as I remember that 20'' is with the side shelfs out. The legs don't come out quite that far. I have more videos on this woodstove and some accessories, look on my page for the woodstove playlist.
There is a small gap, when you first start the stove and it is warming up the gap opens up a lil more as the metal expands. But once it is hot the gap gets small again. I hope that makes sence.
Nice, I have a welding blanket I am going to use with mine. Added bonus is I can wrap the stove in it and put it all in a tote. Blanket adds some cushion protection to the stove while in transit. Thanks for the comment.
Can you say break out the Silky big boy?? I knew you could😂 can you say wake up every 2 hours to stoke it😂 but hey its cool!. It ain't no cast iron cook top like ol Bertha but its better than frozen goodies
I was thoroughly enjoying this video until you started dragging that soot scraper against that steel firebox and making the most horrific noise ever. Dear god man!!!
@sparxy1968 LOL. Well now you know what to look forward to if you buy and use one of these stoves. Thanks for the comment will try and avoid things like this in the future. If your interested I have a wood stove play list on my channel that covers some accessories. Have a great day.
I have had the stove out twice so far. In the beginning it smokes but once its good and hot, like 30 minutes in there is little to no smoke. In this video I did chuck into it a small chunk of fatwood along with the shavings to get things going so that's probably what your seeing.
