Cool video. Have you ever tried hunting without baiting? Usually ends up being a lot more rewarding. Plus, with baiting being one of the leading spreaders of CWD, it’s a good time to think about trying to hunt natural movement.
That's funny, been hunting since 1982, baiting wasn't legal until around 2010... I used to average over 10 deer a year before baiting was legal and my biggest bucks were taken before baiting was legal. Now I am in township and county management hunts, baiting allows for the perfect shot, but with that said, in this video you can see the deer split up as they come closer to the bait, bait puts them on high alert, similar to African game when they come to water holes and predators ambush at water holes... now late season over bait when deer are on extreme high alert is harder than just having yarded up deer walking single file through the woods, you just take the last one when almost all of the eyes have passed. And bait spreading CWD, you are telling me that at a corn field deer/animals don't feed off of the same ear of corn or under a apple tree, apples are never eaten by one animal and a portion left for another animal to eat and saliva/germs have the potential of being passed on? People that never hunt over bait and have no experience with it, their negative hypothesis is usually always wrong.
Great video as usual. I live in South Jersey and saw a Bald Eagle from my stand this fall, first time seeing one in the wild around me. It was awesome, love seeing them around.
wow, your season goes late. does could be 3+ months pregnant by now. I think I'd be afraid of what I might find while field dressing. but maybe your rut is a bit later than what I'm used to here in MA.
Great shot! Not an easy angle. I know I should be grateful for NJ's generous deer hunting season, but I'm still bummed that its finally over. Looking forward to Turkey and shed hunting tho. Next season I'm getting into saddle hunting too!
Love your videos but I have been bow hunting for 40yrs and shot with Team Hoyt and Bowtech and I can tell you that Ozonics is just a stupid gimmick. There is nothing out there that absorbs or mask your order better than taking a bath and scent free soap on clothes along with hunting the correct wind. Only way that stupid gimmick would work is if you were in a bubble. Indians hunted deer for thousands of years and knew the best way was to play the wind and they were very successful with a stick bow and arrows. You can see clearly that the mature doe has you pegged with scent. Younger deer don't know what human scent stand for so they just mosy right in.
Whatever on the scent control, the doe caught my movement turning on the GoPro remote. Wind was perfect and really didn't need the Ozonics on this hunt, in these mountains you never know how the wind will be blowing and swirling, no matter what the weatherman says.
