Maaaaaaaatttteeeee Great to see you back at it 👍I like that set up, I did a similar one last year but used a stick to hold the front up, the ridgline looked tight man.. tight 👍 fire wise, get a cut down Z light or a karrimor type sleep mat and waft your fire with that... I had a 7 section karrimor sleep mat that I cut the last 4 off to sit on etc... fantastic bellows as well 😉
He’s baaaaack!!! Great to see your out again Simon - and with a very different setup! Worked well and I must try that. Looked chilly ❄️❄️ Thanks for taking us along. ATB - Ben
Nice video, Simon. Great knot work, you should do a “how to…” video 🙂 I recall Bear Grylls (I think) say about fires “look after me when I am small and I will take care of you when I am grown”. Fish dish looked awesome, what a great idea, I tend to take bag of Merchant Gourmet rice/grains, veg and tinned sardines/mackerel in sauce but prefer yours! Hope you are over worst of Covid. Take it easy. Paul
Great quote Paul, I did a lot of research before this one so not sure I could easily put together a video like that! It's a great idea, thank you. All good covid wise. Hope you're keeping well mate? Si
Great to see you back mate, great woodland camp too, I've been looking at doing a woodland camp, and taking my Lanshan 2 outer and a bivi, see how that goes 👍
I have never been a fan of the bivvy although my last camp was just a tarp. I been camping 20 odd years but must give one of thses bivvys a 3 day camp Good vid Simon.
Just started following you on our youtube channel, always loved your stuff and comment on insta sometines on my private account. Just rewatched this video I love winter camps and missing them 🤣
Hello again Simon. I’ve never been camping. I have a very romantic notion of it but I’m expecting a rude awakening tbh 😂 .. your camp meal looked delicious. However, the thought which crosses my mind the most is how you deal with wild animals? It can’t solely be the fire which wards them away? I imagined the food you cooked would have attracted them..? Also, some details on the choices you’re making regarding the style of camp for the night.. eg. Bivvy, hammock, tent. Or the equipment you’re using eg. Pot, pan, lighter, spork. Even the weight of your gear would be interesting to know… I just have an inquisitive mind but I enjoyed your video 😊
There are very few wild animals in the UK and in particular very few that can do harm. As it was winter the insects are also limited so there were no issues. The fire was all but out when I slept so no issues with animals :) I wanted to use a bivvy on this one to keep it minimal as I was in a forest so didn't want to be seen. Have you seen the links to my gear below the video? Thank you for watching and commenting, very much appreciated
That was great Simon ✌ I bought some Rab down pants, very good for sitting around in. What make is your bivy bag please. Wish you the best in your new home too. 👍🍺
Hey Simon a welcome return! Covid and moving house sounds like a stress. Better than my excuses for not getting out though - too cold/wet/dark/can't be bothered😀. I liked the title sequence.
Really good to see you out again and love that tarp set up. Not so keen on the camouflaged fish but that looked a proper pukka restaurant standard meal, mine are always quick and simple affairs. I was out in the hooped bivvy Monday night, partially under the Silwing. It was frosty in the morning but I was toasty. Another house move, geez is that three in as many years?
